Just pondering on the next headline our fabulous press will come up with next!

Anyone else have any good headlines?

I didn’t care for Cummings but the way the press camped outside his family home was bordering on full on stalking and harassment.

MissAdventure Sat 28-Sept-24 19:32:34

No, overall.
A bit like rats deserting a sinking ship.

Allira Sat 28-Sept-24 19:31:58

Yes, all very well but cats are gods and Starmer should realise that.
It does not bode well if the gods, including chief of the gods, ie Larry aka Zeus, are displeased.

Not in 3 months?? MissA

Well how many Labour MPs have resigned from the party in just 3 months ?

It was 57 overall while boris was in.

I can’t recall any new PM being hounded by the press until Starmer, what do they fear ?
I can't remember anything like this either. I wonder whether the press sense a weakness in his leadership and think they can bring him down just to show that they still have some power in this age of digital media.

Can it be they can’t find mud ?

Named after the artist formerly known as Prince.

What's his name now then?

Oh, just checked, not a good choice of name, surely 😮.

ronib Sat 28-Sept-24 19:05:55

Breaking news - Rosie Duffield has resigned from the Labour Party.

Why are we never discussing the Conservative Party - in the middle of key leadership elections, with its tensions, and the aim of being an effective opposition?

I started a thread on the Conservative leadership race, not a lot of interest I’m afraid.

Follow the money, Annie. People who have it tend to be very scared of the idea of more equitable distribution. That applies both to big business and ordinary people.

There are some scurrilous stories about Kier Starmer. Clearly he has hit a nerve with some very nasty people. I don't recall the Tories being hounded by the press in the same way.

I have seen some stories today on social media which are jaw dropping makes GN look like the Beano (other comics are available)

Despite being a Conservative I want the current Government to succeed, because if it fails so does the U.K.

Prince - named after The Prince? Interesting choice. Larry won’t be the only one put out then.

Allira Sat 28-Sept-24 16:45:49

I'm more worried about Larry, do hope his whiskers haven't been put out by the new arrival, Prince.

What were you thinking, Sir Keir?
Honestly, this is a pretty bad start to life at No 10.

I've only just spotted this thread Cossy - I had started to count how many threads were complaining about Kier Starmer!
grin

I'm not going to now. I am obviously not alone and now I have the perfect thread here!
Thank you Cossy

Maybe an audit should be kept on the wellbeing of the school hamsters!! grin

Absolutely the worst half term of my life was one of the children having the honour of bringing home the class hamster.

It was far more stressful than having a newborn, I was certain it would die ^on my watch^

Friends of ours had the school hamster for half term (talk about short straw) and one of the children let it out and it escaped.

Minutes later the cat appeared and seemed to have grown a fat, ginger moustache. You can probably guess the rest. The cat was not called Kier Starmer as far as I know.

😯

At least DH managed to catch the reception class rabbit before it managed to burrow its way out of the garden. I should have kept it caged up.

Had to look that one up, Mamie

"Meanwhile, Boris Johnson has claimed he considered launching an “aquatic raid” on a warehouse in the Netherlands to retrieve Covid vaccine doses amid a row with Europe.

The former prime minister wrote in his new book Unleashed that he considered sending the British Army on a daring raid to snatch the vaccines from an EU warehouse, although he rejected the idea, saying: “The whole thing was nuts.”

Mr Johnson’s book, Unleashed, is being serialised in the Daily Mail and has seen him defend his actions during “Partygate”, which eventually led to his resignation after he was found to have lied over flouting lockdown rules."

Mamie Sat 28-Sept-24 15:23:05

Well at least Starmer isn't planning an invasion and drugs raid in Holland. 😂😂😂

Wyllow3 Sat 28-Sept-24 15:11:16

Gosh, surely not, Anniebach?

Anniebach Sat 28-Sept-24 15:06:05

Could it be because he is a member of the Labour Party?
