Will Kier Starmer time as the head of the CPS, ( 2008 to 2013) involve him being questioned with regard to the Al Fayed scandal apparently it was during this time they, the CPS, decided there wasn't enough evidence for a prosecution. We shall wait and see🤐

It's beginning to look like the foundations of Starmer's leadership are cracking.

I can only hope for an avalanche of dissent that will force him to resign and set in motion a leadership contest.

I didn't vote for an android Tory hell-bent on another programme of crucifying austerity.

She’s a controversial figure, within the party and locally in her constituency, has been since she was first elected, but I agree with Galaxy, she’s definitely not left.

Anniebach Sat 28-Sept-24 21:18:14

I respect that she has principles and this has caused her to leave the party but I really don’t think she is courageous, courageous for me remains staying in the party as Robin Cook certainly did

Galaxy Sat 28-Sept-24 21:13:42

No she isnt a Corbynite.

Allira Sat 28-Sept-24 20:48:32

I don't think she is.

She is very principled.

Anniebach Sat 28-Sept-24 20:46:16

She did the right thing, but I don’t think it courageous , she won the seat when Corbyn was leader so perhaps very much to the left ?

Allira Sat 28-Sept-24 20:40:27

Anniebach

Rosie remains an MP, so what courage?

So she should!

She has no reason whatsoever to resign.

M0nica 👏👏👏

Anniebach Sat 28-Sept-24 19:47:08

Who has accepted favours from friends and given favours in return ?

Spinnaker Sat 28-Sept-24 19:40:07

Well said Monica

I just KNEW days ago that he'd get the blame for this the minute I read that he was head of the CPS at the time.
I doubt if he was any more responsible for Al Fayed not being prosecuted than he was for Saville.

But please don't let that thought spoil your enjoyment.

As they say in journalistic circles 'never let the truth stand in the way of a good story'.

Is anyone else bored by all the Labour/Kier Starmer bashing that is infesting GN at the moment?

Do all you right minded Tory ladies really want the other lot back or Nigel?

KS seems to come in for more flack than your darling Boris who, in my humble opinion, was the dreaded end as PM.*

*Not to mention Liz Truss

No not, remotely bored, but unfortunately when someone has built a party and their leadership and won an election on the basis of occupying the moral hgh ground compare with their rivals, with a leader who is untainted by the sins of their rivals like accepting 'favours' from friends, who then get special favours in return and whose election promises have been to help the poor and those struggling in these difficult economic times.

Then, no sooner is that person on power than they prove themselves to be a whited seulchre. Found to be accepting favours from friends, left right and centre, and giving favours in return, and then without warning, condemning all those older people, whose incomes are just above pension credit to a winter, where the choice will be eat or heat

You do not need to be a right minded Tory lady, never voted for them in my life, to feel cheated, betrayed and throuoghly let down.

Rosie51 Sat 28-Sept-24 19:35:42

Withdrawal of the whip is seen as a punishment so surely voluntarily giving it up shows courage?

ronib Sat 28-Sept-24 19:27:39

Rosie joins the merry band of 14 …. Good for her. The courage of her convictions maybe Anniebach ??

Rosie51 Sat 28-Sept-24 19:24:28

Anniebach

Rosie remains an MP, so what courage?

Ah but one without the backup/protections of her party.........oops forgot Starmer had already treated her as persona non grata. Do you approve of him excluding the only elected Labour MP in Kent from his election launch in that very county?

Anniebach Sat 28-Sept-24 19:20:13

Spinnaker Sat 28-Sept-24 19:20:02

Aren't they just proving to be a complete set of shysters !!

Lisaangel10 Sat 28-Sept-24 19:17:01

Very true

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Sat 28-Sept-24 18:59:45

Ah Rosie. Such eloquence and personal courage in summing up the outrage felt by so many. I can only wish her well.

Lisaangel10 Sat 28-Sept-24 18:59:24

Good for Rosie!

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Sat 28-Sept-24 18:56:04

Labour said they’d scrap tuition fees.
Instead they’re raising them to £10,500 a year.

Spinnaker Sat 28-Sept-24 18:54:44

Well done Rosie Duffield !! Why on earth anyone would want to align themselves with Starmer et al beats me. Hopefully a few more MPs will see the light.

Yes, I am bored, it's often an echo chamber. The Conservative Party seems to have completely disappeared from the news/GN yet there is a big election coming up.

Rekarie Sat 28-Sept-24 18:35:47

Well done, Rosie. Not just the tabloid press upset with Keir.

Rosie51 Sat 28-Sept-24 18:31:46

Galaxy

Dear God Rosie Duffields resignation letter.

She hasn't pulled her punches has she? I really admire Rosie and she has been treated very poorly by Starmer. When he launched his election campaign in Kent who did he not invite to that launch? That would be Rosie Duffield the only elected Labour MP in Kent! Earlier he was happy to be photographed with Kent Tory MP Natalie Elphicke who defected to Labour but had said she wouldn't stand at the next election. I wish Rosie was my MP, I know people in her constituency who say you always get replies from her and she works really hard, in stark contrast to the lazy labour MP I have.
