22 years ago, my youngest son died at the age of 25 years old. A tragic death. He was very involved politically and Waheed Ali was very much a sort of Mentor for him. Lord Ali was so kind and friendly at that time to my family and myself and a couple of my daughters had tea with him on the terrace of the House of Lords. My memories of him are of very good.

I don't know if careers advisers are any better these days, or if indeed they still exist, but in my day they were useless. This is a classic case in point it would seem.

I must assume, then, that those of you who are thanking the OP for information many of us had already bothered to find for ourselves have been speaking from a position of ignorance when previously commenting on this bout of RW hysteria. 🤔

I used “this” as a nod to all the notoriety in the media. Hence my curiosity. I read up on him, part Wiki, part other sources. Wiki didn’t mention the careers advice he was given at school, that was from an interview article.

I just assumed politically aware posters were aware of who he is, how he got to be in the financial position he’s in.
