We were just watching this on the news. Social media has a lot to answer for with this kind of thing.

Just follows up from another white supremacy group I've posted this week, either, and the leaders off abroad.

Oh, absolutely - they are the ones who start it all, but social media has unfortunately given them an easy platform on which to spread their vile views.

It seems the perpetrator of the site publishing this material is Finnish and lives in Finland. BBC invetigative reporters have done the research that enabled them to indetify him and when challenged, he said, he would sue the BBC for revealing who he was.

This was on R4 6.00pm news today.

And it comes at us from ALL angles it appears…

In August 2020, Insp Ehikioya accused his employer of exercising an “abuse of power” when he was pulled over by two white officers “for no other reason other than the fact that they have seen a black man driving a car”.

He said at the time: “I just feel they have done this because I am black and this is well out of order and it shouldn’t be the reason you go round intimidating members of the public.”

I first read about Putin’s involvement in influencing the Brexit vote along with reports he had said he would flood Europe with people seeking sanctuary a couple of years ago. The claims were dismissed as nonsense,conspiracy theories by some. There is now evidence the Russian state deliberately inflamed anti immigrant feelings by giving false information that the murderer was a young Muslim man who arrived in a small boat a week earlier. A false name was included to make the lies more believable.

I wonder if the fact it’s hard to believe that Putin could be determined to de-stabilise us and other European countries is why this thread has not attracted many posts

I find it hard to believe that people do not think that Vladimir Putin plays mind games via bots and social media fake accounts.

I do think the U.K. and other Countries need to have an in-depth look at why there are so many disenfranchised young predominantly white males who are open to this sort of persuasion.

There is now evidence the Russian state deliberately inflamed anti immigrant feelings by giving false information that the murderer was a young Muslim man who arrived in a small boat a week earlier. A false name was included to make the lies more believable.
Following this the perpetrators were thought to be a man living in India, a Canadian, an American and one other, possibly British, who ran a small internet company that would post anything for money. Cannot recall names or identities now.
I remember the post appearing on Gransnet and several posters believing it.

I do think the U.K. and other Countries need to have an in-depth look at why there are so many disenfranchised young predominantly white males who are open to this sort of persuasion.

I think, in part, they are the product of ignorant and often racist parents, who mistakenly blame others for their own lack of achievements.

Then we as a society need to look at how the circle can be broken.

Unfortunately like all things if it happens at home it’s difficult. It will come down to education, more political studies taught in schools would be a start.

Encouraging our children to reach for the stars not a life of odd jobs and UC.

I agree with you absolutely GrannyGravy, especially the bit about encouraging children to reach for the stars. I once worked in a school where the headteacher gave a talk at the beginning of every school year about reaching for the stars and landing at the top of the trees, but reaching for the top of the tree and landing somewhere in a bush.

The website that posted the false rumours was not deemed to have links with Russia.

They’re all linked to Channel3Now - a website whose story giving a false name for the 17-year-old charged over the Southport attack was widely quoted in viral posts on X. Channel3Now also wrongly suggested the attacker was an asylum seeker who arrived in the UK by boat last year.”

I was also not trying to suggest in the O/P it came from Russia, but that he used information from a Russian Website on Arson.
