‘BBC presenter Laura Kuenssberg's scheduled interview with Boris Johnson has been cancelled, after she accidentally sent the former prime minister her briefing notes.
Boris Johnson: The Laura Kuenssberg Interview was due to be broadcast on Thursday evening on BBC One.
However, the BBC's former political editor said, external it was "not right for the interview to go ahead" after sharing notes with him which had been intended for her colleagues.
Kuenssberg described it as "embarrassing and disappointing", but that "red faces aside, honesty is the best policy".
The BBC said it had agreed with Johnson's team that cancelling the interview was "the best way forward".
Johnson is currently taking part in media interviews to promote his new memoir, which has also been recently serialised in a newspaper’.

I'm rather disappointed. I was looking forward to shouting at the telly.
LK a fan of BJ? Really?

eazybee Thu 03-Oct-24 15:21:24

Well, it has been said that Laura Kuenssberg Is A Conservative.
I was hoping it might be an interview when Boris was able to finish at least one sentence without interruption.

Oldbat1 Thu 03-Oct-24 15:29:42

Thank goodness it was cancelled!

Aye, right. She probably sent it to him but copied in a colleague who has picked her up on it

My first thought, too.

Mine as well.

The BBC was always biased against Boris id rather see an unbiased interview anyway Starmer had work events that looked like a party lt was a party when it came To Borris

Well, the official investigation deemed it to be a party. Unlike Keir’s ‘ party’ which wasn’t. Nothing to do with the BBC.

It would have been interesting. We are all capable of forming our own opinions when watching. Some will strongly dispute whilst others will strongly agree.

I wonder what repeat show will take its place

Maremia Fri 04-Oct-24 13:08:42

Grandmabatty, nailed it!

Boris Johnson is being interviewed by Tom Bradby this evening on ITV at 7 pm if anyone is interested.

I might be washing my hair.

How does anyone know LK is a fan.of Johnson? I thought the BBC including her was very left wing. My immediate reaction was that she had done it deliberately not wanting to give him a platform for his book. Instead he has got himself plastered all over the front of the Daily Telegraph. I did vote him in, big mistake, and won't read anything by or about him now, same with M and H. The South Park thing said it all, don't read anything about them now.

You don’t have to watch it.
I wouldn’t have watched it.

I think I’m washing my hair too.

The opinion that the BBC is left wing has always confused me.

I read I player news everyday (more detail than TV) and the coverage is very broad and alternative POV always quoted. It's still got correspondents over the world for direct news for example whats happening in Israel. Their fact checking on major issues is especially valuable, they don't use discredited sources. Above all, I player has a myriad of smaller non political stories you can't get now unless you buy a newspaper because of paywalls

My experience is that left wingers complain it's too right, and vice-versa. If you want leftish, you go to further sources, at least the Guardian is still free, ditto right, to GB news.

LK was never "left"!

Yup. As his number 1 fan, I'm sure that she would have run the questions by him and removed any that he didn't want to answer...
She is not only biased, but incompetent as well. Give her job to Victoria Derbyshire - who is at least efficient and unbiased.

For Flutterby, what on earth is that "I did vote him in, big mistake, and won't read anything by or about him now, same with M and H. The South Park thing said it all, don't read anything about them now."? Who are "M&H" (I know M&S, and 'M' is in James Bond) - and I thought South Park was a cartoon?!

For Wyllow3 - HURRAY! It was shown long ago that folk see and hear just what they want to see re politics, left and right wingers both claim bias, it's a bit like footy fans yelling at the ref, when their opinion depends at which end the incident happened?!

Both Labour and Tories have moaned about the BBC being against them at some point in the last 4 decades, and both have tried some moves to get more control over what is broadcast. Neutrals can therefore deduce that the BBC is broadly treading a line somewhere down the middle -- as it should be (despite their occasional misjudgements and incompetence).

Nor do I get the fuss about LK, she happily shredded Tory ministers as needed in the last 2 election campaigns (easy targets!), and had previously had Labour fans crying because she was supposedly nasty to poor lame-duck Corbyn, when she was just trying to get him to answer the question.

Maremia Fri 04-Oct-24 15:56:13

Conrast the photo of LK on the night/morning when Johnson won the 2019 election, with the expression on her face when the Tories were voted out this time round. That should show you where her loyalties lie.

Wyllow3 Fri 04-Oct-24 15:58:56

If you type in a search engine, "is Laura Kuenssberg biased" immediately comes up accusations from both sides of the political spectrum!

Soniah Fri 04-Oct-24 16:05:51

Mistakenly my foot!

I think Flutterby refers to Meghan & Harry. There was a South Park programme where Boris featured.

Lisaangel10 Fri 04-Oct-24 17:26:25

camilla Tominey will be doing a 1 hr interview with Boris Johnson on GB News on Sunday 6 October at 9.30am. Repeated at teatime.

She is by far the best female interviewer on any channel. Beats Burley, Kunnesberg etc hands down.

valdavi Fri 04-Oct-24 17:47:01

I think she's pretty good, I think she likes or did like Boris but would spear him as neccessary regardless. As someone who's come to grief with email chains / includes many times, think it was probably just an error, if she'd been slipping him the notes illicitly she WOULD have checked the CCs.
