Anniversary of Israeli massacre

In two days time it will be the anniversary of the Israeli massacre where around 1200 people were murdered and around 300 people were taken hostage.
Today there is a big pro Palestine march him London. Would it have been more respectful and appropriate to have waited till next week or later in the month for this march to take place, especially since the first bombing of Gaza started on 13/10/23 and Israeli troops first entered Gaza on 27/10/23.

lixy, this is the first time I’ve seen the phrase ‘gang reporting’ and I found it offensive.
Occasionally on this forum there have been unpleasant comments about ‘queen bees’ or ‘cliques’. My impression hasn’t been of that kind of silliness but of discussions on news and politics where posters may comment in support of a post that mirrors their own views.
On this thread, I find myself alienated by simplistic suggestions that ‘it’s’ all the fault of Balfour…/ the Israelis ‘. Etc.

Exactly, but they push all the buttons. But the truth probably does break their guidelines and they will gang report to get banned and silenced.

So keeping away for now.

Your truth may indeed break guidelines. That’s why you may get suspended again. It isn’t about ‘gang reporting’. It’s about trying to discuss a very difficult subject while seeing that ‘the truth’ isn’t so simple here It needs international negotiators and willingness from the main players to compromise

Interesting this …. I have no idea how gang reporting would work but it seems the very antithesis of supporting a democracy.

Agree that this is a very tricky subject to try to keep any kind of objectivity, and hoping for international compromises real soon.

I doubt the unrest will ever be over but Israel is more powerful than Hamas and Hezbollah and will surely win in this conflict. I just have great sadness for all those who have died.
Before I married I had what people thought of as a Jewish name and I had instances of antisemitism aimed at me. It was horrible and demeaning and I have the utmost sympathy with those who suffer from wicked behaviour from ignorant people.

I doubt this war will ever be over, too. Both sides are as dedicated as each other in destroying the other. It is a war that can never be 'won'.

Well said Iam64.
I made an ill judged comment a few weeks ago and have learned my lesson.

Sometimes what we want to say just isn’t acceptable. I now try harder to engage brain before posting.

Hamas & Hezbollah are proscribed terrorist groups in the West, but there are countries in the "Civilized world" that are not in the West, and Hamas and Hezbollah are not proscribed terrorist groups in many of those countries.

The truth is that Hamas and Hezbollah are on the list of proscribed militant terrorist groups, along with very many others.
Does the civilised world want these groups to take over?

It is all so desperately tragic, innocents have died, but these groups hide behind ordinary citizens and terrorise others so how can they be stopped?

What’s “truth” on here as distinguished from opinion?

Israel may well be more powerful than Hamas and Hezbollah combined, although I think that is debatable, but whatever, Israel is most probably not more powerful than Iran. That is the problem.

As long as Iran keeps on supplying weapons to terrorists there’ll be a problem but Israel aim to reduce them where they can.
Terrorists hide in schools hospitals and the like and close to UN buildings in Lebanon just as in Gaza so a hard nut to crack but the IDF have had some stunning successes recently.

Hiw on earth can people make sure you are silenced. What on earth do you mean. They might put a different view forward and argue with you, this is not silencing.

Report and get banned- easy. So keeping away.

Yes, Haaretz- gives very different points of view from Jewish people who oppose Netanyahu and his aims.

Very strange🤔
It seems to be other posters getting deleted on this thread and not you Fleurpepper !

Well they can only ban you if you say something that breaks guidelines. So try not to do that and you will be fine. It's kind of how I operate in most discussions.

The rise of Neo-Nazi networks is worrying. We hoped to see the end of Nazis when WW2 ended. I don't think they ever really died out in Germany but now they are everywhere.

Anniebach Sat 19-Oct-24 16:59:41

Or dismissing the holocaust ‘something which happened in the past’ , does he/she dismiss WW1 and WW2 the very same ?

*a Jewish friend reminded me today that in the Jewish religion, no one should rejoice in the fall of an enemy*. (Fleurpepper)

Well I can confirm that my Jewish friends continue to rejoice in the fall of the Third Reich

I would have thought most decent people would.

Unfortunately, time has passed and many people do not know about the horrors of those days or may even deny what happened allowing that kind of hatred to be rise up once again.

It seems Fleurpepper has decided to withdraw from this thread.

I'll have to go back to reading the Jewish Chronicle, Arutz Sheva and the Times of Israel to find out what thousands of Jews are thinking now. wink

Ooh, I see what you did there 😉

You could also read Haaretz, also read by Israeli Jews, for balance. I get a daily update every day. As in every country, opinion divides along political lines.

My opinion isn’t divided along political lines antisemitism is rising here, that is so evil
