In two days time it will be the anniversary of the Israeli massacre where around 1200 people were murdered and around 300 people were taken hostage.
Today there is a big pro Palestine march him London. Would it have been more respectful and appropriate to have waited till next week or later in the month for this march to take place, especially since the first bombing of Gaza started on 13/10/23 and Israeli troops first entered Gaza on 27/10/23.

I watched the BBC programme tonight as I felt I should in the interest of balance.

Kalm Tue 15-Oct-24 22:28:00

I am watching this like I used to watch Dr who. Pretending to check what's on the other channels. I admire their faith though. May god help them and may god help Palestine.
The Palestinians don’t have Thaad or F16’s which is sad. shock

Tonight the second part of the BBC's reports from the region was shown, this time "Life and Death in Gaza BBC 2, 9 to 10pm, also on catch up I player.

"The experiences of four Gazans as they live through the ongoing conflict. Filmed by the participants themselves over the course of a year, the documentary follows Khalid, Aya, Adam, and Aseel and their families as they endure bombing raids, multiple evacuations, family separations, deaths and even a birth"

BBC comment:

It’s safe to say this will be a tough watch, but an important one.

After two recent documentaries that evoked the horrors of the Hamas attack on Israel last October, a feature-length Storyville shows the impact that the resulting war has had on ordinary Palestinians

We will follow four Gazans as they document their daily lives over the course of a year, through bombing raids and evacuations, family separations and reunions, deaths and a childbirth amid the chaos.

Khalid is a physiotherapist and father of five. Aya is a women’s rights advocate who recently graduated from law school.

Adam is a youth worker for an NGO. Aseel is a young pregnant mother with a toddler. For each of them, the war tests their resilience, while some have to contend with a corrupt trade in evacuations that feeds on desperation and misery.

(I'm not watching it today, but feel its a must watch to hear from the other side of the border)

BNP marches can never be justified they don’t believe in free speech and encourage violence towards ethnic minorities. So with respect anyone who justifies BNP marches need re education.

Kalm Tue 15-Oct-24 20:41:23

It’s good to listen to other countries news programmes that for reasons of culture, religion and politics are generally neutral when it comes to Palestine. We are taught that BBC Sky and CNN are somehow the guarantors of truth is clearly been proven wrong.
I also fail to understand why the IDF is not deemed a terror organisation. The indiscriminate killing in whole or in part of occupied non combatants like pregnant women is NEVER justified murder is murder regardless of who commits.

"I don’t know a Rabbi who marches/marched"

Perhaps you don't know many Rabbis but fb Rabbi's for human rights is a good place to start.

Allira Tue 08-Oct-24 20:56:19

It is wrong when Jewish campaign groups have had to cancel proposed marches due to fears for their safety.

Pro Palestinian is NOT pro Hamas The vast majority of Palestinian people including the thousands of dead children are innocent peace loving people who have been hounded ,terrorised and treated appallingly for Decades by Israel. The Israeli State is rotten .I march FOR Palestine slmgside many of the Jewish faith who wholeheartedly disagree with Israel lamdgrabs and the treatment of the Palestinian people
Are these people anti semitic ? Even the Rabbi,s who march.?

I don’t know a Rabbi who marches/marched

Galaxy

I support their right to march and m y right to find them terrifying, however at the same time we have to support the right of the likes of the BNP etc to march.

Of course.

And the rights of people to go out and about their daily lives without fear.

Pro Palestinian is NOT pro Hamas

That's right. Hamas is not the whole of the Palestinian people who just want to live peaceful lives.

A minority of protestors may be unaware of this, or not.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Tue 08-Oct-24 20:16:19

Well, I happen to think the Palestinian people have been appalling treated by Hamas. How sick are this organisation to use their own citizens as human shields with tunnels, command centres and bunkers underground, below hospitals and yes, even schools. A proven fact.

Because we live in a democracy, pro-Palestinian marches or any peaceful marches should not be banned.
Jewish people, including children, should not feel intimidated as they go about their daily lives, or feel they have to hide any sign that they are Jewish.

However, in the UK, supporting a proscribed terrorist group is illegal, including the wearing of clothing and display of articles or publishing such. If that makes certain other groups feel intimidated that is very wrong too.

Iam64 Tue 08-Oct-24 19:18:14

eggplant - I read your comment as a patient if ironic responses to some comments suggesting the Pro Palestinian marches should be banned
We are a democracy where free speech supports the right of groups/individuals to express views with which you disagree

We live ( allegedly) in a democracy. May I politely suggest that things are a tad more complex than terrorists are bad, Israel is good.
Just a thought.

I hadn’t thought of it that way 🤔
It’s food for thought though. Any more pearls of wisdom you’d like to share?

This is starting to feel personal so I will bid you Good Evening.

All terrorists are bad in my opinion. Murdering, raping, burning, beheading; I’m sorry I can’t see any value in those actions, whoever are the group behind such things.

We do live in a democracy.

In the UK, supporting a proscribed terrorist group is illegal, including the wearing of clothing and display of articles or publishing such.

There are 81 groups on the UK Government list of proscribed terrorist groups.
