There are no links between the riots and this case, except for the timing.

As people have pointed out, this case is one amongst many waiting in the CPS queue moving at normal speed.

Seems to me Reform have picked it deliberately because of the backgrounds of those arrested, trying to make some point about favouritism, when there is no evidence for that at all.

Oh dear. Should they be allowed a free ride .

Prosecutions take time. Most of the people convicted after the riots pleaded guilty, so there was no prosecution preparation or trial- the matter went straight to sentencing.

pleaded guilty because they were threatened with a long time on remand if they didnt.

I would suspect that a private prosecution would only be allowed if the CPS decide not to prosecute.

They weren’t even charged yet alone prosecuted.

They're on bail. The CPS will decide about a charge.

Excellent news. I’d like to know why it’s taking so long. Their disgusting act has been caught on film.

Somebody I knew was killed by a speeding car two and a half years ago. The inquest has only just taken place. The wheels of justice can be slow.

Greater Manchester Police submitted a file of evidence to the CPS in August about the incidents at Manchester Airport and are awaiting a charging decision. They have not provided ongoing commentary, in order not to jeopardise the cases.

Three months later?!
People were jailed for throwing something or pushing against police in the riots and within a week.
In this case we have seen the footage of these two violent men punching police to the floor.
It’s right that police kicking a restrained man on the floor should be def looked at, but these two men should have been charged straight away. The two cases could have run in tandem.
But no, one policeman was suspended and no charges yet to be brought to vile individuals acting in blind rages with nil respect for authority.

I thought this prosecution was still in progress?

Have I missed something?

No, you haven't. It is still in progress.

Kircubbin yes indeed.

kircubbin2000 Tue 08-Oct-24 12:27:58

I think they are afraid of the backlash and riots which might occur.

BevSec Tue 08-Oct-24 12:14:51

Good, thanks for bringing this to our attention, it needs highlighting.

Good.
I thought it had been swept under the carpet. T2 at Manchester airport this summer when a WPC had her nose broken.

It’s clear from the video that they should have been jailed immediately without bail and prosecuted. Something is very wrong here.
