“We are killing like we haven’t killed since 1967”
How ironic - some HMRC staff essentially committing fraud.

Good.
I thought it had been swept under the carpet. T2 at Manchester airport this summer when a WPC had her nose broken.
It’s clear from the video that they should have been jailed immediately without bail and prosecuted. Something is very wrong here.

Wyllow3 this feels like a "non-problem" sort of problem!
They weren't that clear! Your heading and your O/P are both inaccurate:
"It’s clear from the video that they should have been jailed immediately without bail and prosecuted. Something is very wrong here".
1. Since they pleaded not guilty when arrested, this could not happen as it has to go to CPS.
2. As regards you title, they cannot contemplate a prosecution until they know if the CPS will charge or not. The accusation of being "thrown under a bus" is inaccurate, the case is with the CPS.
I’m sure Reform aren’t cogitating this all by their own big selves. They will be taking expert legal advice.
I do hope this ridiculous grandstanding doesn’t interfere with justice. No doubt if it somehow disrupted the process, Farage would be delighted

It's a publicity stunt and rabble rousing.
Farage would be better occupied holding some surgeries in Clacton and actually doing his job. He lied that he'd been advised to not hold surgeries due to security issues, got caught out and is now back tracking on his story.
👏👏👏
I doubt that will happen.

Also that Farage is a mini trump, stirring up divisions
Agreed. Neither Farage nor Tice are stupid, they know how the justice system works; this grandstanding illustrates their opinion of their supporters. Like it or not, we live in a democracy, and everyone, irrespective of their race, religion, ethnicity, or guilt, is entitled to a fair trial in a court of law, not the court of public opinion with video clips provided by the press as evidence of guilt.
Farage and Tice are also aware of sub judice and know any MP should not involve themselves in current or impending court cases. This could backfire in their faces and the perpetrators could get off scot free.

I thought the same thing - and if they did, you can guess how that would be interpreted by those determined to insinuate that the law is biased.

All predictable - You'd think that Reform might actually try and be involved in the day by day discussions and debate in parliament -so much going on atm re social and economic policies -
and instead, they are grandstanding on this racially motivated suggestion, which as we have seen, has little to do with how our CPS actually operates - and hiding matters in Clacton.
It's a publicity stunt and rabble rousing.

The accusations of "two-tier-policing" - which is really what this is all about - really does not help our police force who are under enormous pressure both from funding and recruitment problems.
Not knowing what they are going to face when they are called out, whether it's a minor fracas or a major event - by an agitated and dissatisfied public, just puts them in more physical danger.
How many reports do you read of both ambulance staff and police being either verbally abused or physically attacked when attending an incident. Those notices in hospitals about abuse not being tolerated are there for a reason.
This action will not make life any easier for the police or emergency responders.

It’s becoming increasingly obvious that there’s a huge divide between those of us who have some understanding of and faith in our CJS and those who dont
If you read the guidance from the CPS, it doesn’t look as though a case they have already taken on will be allowed to proceed to a private prosecution, they would have to agree to that happening, which they won’t do as it’s already in progress.

I still think it’s smoke and mirrors from Reform.
karmalady, the process will take time, as has been stated . A private prosecution may follow an outcome from the justice system, not precede it.I would not want money to buy queue jumping in the courts - would you?
karmalady
Excellent. I hope they set up a crowdfund
Fools and their money are easy parted comes to mind. Anyone who thinks that crowd funding is the way to achieve a criminal prosecution needs to educate themselves into how the British legal system works.
The system is clogged and this case will be dealt with in due course. Covid and serious underfunding over the previous decade have all contributed to the frustratingly slow process, but be sure, giving money to the Reform party is not the way to sort it out.
At least Farage now has a home in his own constituency, not quite Clacton, just outside the “gates” in Frinton, which is still in his constituency, where he’s joined the Frinton Cricket Club, where he’s been a few times, maybe these folks don’t scare him as it appears holding surgeries does!
karmalady
Excellent. I hope they set up a crowdfund
Why?
What are you hoping this will achieve?
Excellent. I hope they set up a crowdfund
Thank you for answering growstuff.

I would suspect that a private prosecution would only be allowed if the CPS decide not to prosecute.
This is simply Reform attempting to discredit the other parties.
Lots and lots of cases do take years to come to court (this isn’t a good thing).
Yet another “click-bait” headline!

I’m wondering if the person you know is the same person who was on Question Time last week. It was a man who said his nineteen year old son had been killed by a drink driver two years ago, and although the person who did it was known and charged, they were still waiting for the case to come to court.
It’s very sad and actually unacceptable that people have to wait so long for justice. This situation has been caused by insufficient funding for the courts, obviously exacerbated by Covid, but that is not the main reason. I do hope that Rachel Reeves, in her efforts to continue austerity in order to fill her black hole, will not continue to deprive our courts of the funding they need to operate properly and in a timely manner.
No, he wasn't the same person. The driver wasn't drunk.
Greater Manchester (which I assume is the correct area is slightly faster than the national average to get to completion:
