Most people in the HoP don’t have a bus pass, but how does that explain their lack of understanding?.
Don't they? TBH I have no idea of the figures for bus-pass holding Lords, and didn't know they even existed
. I was referring to what seems to be the average age of those in the HOL, which to the naked eye looks more than old enough to qualify. What are the stats, please?
Also, in what way do the Lords not understand? Are you talking about not understanding struggles to pay fares? I didn't know they'd been asked about that. Maybe I am missing something here.
FWIW, I would be happy to pay more tax (and willingly to forego things like the WFP) to make public transport free for all age groups and reduce the number of cars on the roads. I do, however, understand why the government won't do that. After the outcry when the WFP was means-tested, they will be very careful about making concessions that may later have to be reduced.
