Sir K claims "a budget for Working People", ha!!!

I’m happy with the budget and looking forward to another 10 years of Labour budgets, policies and laws. I’m now looking forward to the LD party being the official opposition in the next Labour government.

Rachel Reeves expense account is relevant because she is a public servant and in her decisions affect people's income. She is apparently unable to do her own tax returns, employs an accountant and claims the cost on expenses.
Do as I say not as I do is the mantra of this government.

If it means taxpayers are not paying employers' profits in the form of top ups to their low wages, then that has to be a good thing.

I don't think unemployment figures are high - in fact we keep hearing that it is difficult to fill many vacancies - so if one employer doesn't want to pay NI, employees should be able to find one who will.

It seemed months of waffle about very little.

Most on NLW won’t be better off - what they gain in wages they will lose in UC top ups.

Whether employers decide to lay people off, because of the rise in Nat Ins, remains to be seen. 🤷‍♀️

, being a worker wasn't just to provide your "main source of income" (which is as far as Labour's definition goes) - it was to provide for pensions and savings for your later life. So the transition from worker to retiree means we are worthless

Oh good. If Labour has given a definition maybe the speculation about what they meant will stop now.

I don't know about anything they've said about retirees being worthless though. All they said was that they would not raise key taxes (defined as income tax, NI and VAT) that would affect working people. How does that translate to 'non-working people are worthless'?

A Prime Minster is meant to hit the ground running. This Prime Minister is still scrabbling around in the locker room looking for the key to his locker.

The Labour party have been in power now for over 3 months. Certainly it is too early to see the implementation of their policies, but so far we haven't even heard which policies come first and how they intend to implement them, and with so many of them not even getting a mention in the budget, we can be pretty sure that many priorities, like education have been put on the back burner.

All we have had is cloth-eared and clumsy policy statements that show that they have not been thought through clearly (WFA) and silly arguments about definitions that any half savvy government would have completely avoided.

This government has 60 months in power before the next election. 5% of it has already been wasted.

Allira my latest brainwave was to buy a Winston Churchill oil painting on paper. Then I found out about- ‘In the manner of the artist…’ I had a hankering for a time when Prime Ministers were head and shoulders above the rest….. still it makes a good conversation point.

The bus fares up from £2 per journey to £3 so a working person who catches the bus five days a week will pay £30 . This person is likely to be on minimum wage .

As I mentioned already. £30 for DD and £30 for DGD with no oyster zip or IGO options and not everyone working for the NHS got a pay rise.

my investments consist of some free Barclays ( was Woolwich) shares and some free Santander (was Abbey National) shares. Hardly get rich quick.
And some Premium Bonds.

Well of course he did, because that who this budget is aimed at. and it is the only term Labour understand, their definition of course.His definition may be different.
Good to see him tearing into Labour. Starmer laughing away, shoulders heaving; Reeves looking less than comfortable.

Just listened to the budget. After 5 pages of knocking it as aa viable term to use and to criticise Starmer, did anyone catch Rishi Sunak's reply to the budget.
