The result will be announced at 11am tomorrow (Saturday) morning.

The "turnout" was not high. (Telegraph).

Kemi Badenoch was the favourite last week

"A survey of Tory members by the ConservativeHome website last week suggested, external Badenoch led Jenrick by 55% to 31%, with a further 14% undecided."

As regards discussion had to find an accessible website

Will there be a surprise?

Well we were told relentlessly to wait for the budget before passing judgement. May I suggest we do the same with KB and her new cabinet.

Trott - she has so little experience I think its a bit early to label her One Nation just because she was brought in by Sunak.. No, I think she's been chosen as "malleable".

Little experience?
Have you checked?

Special Adviser (Chief of Staff), County Councillor, PPS for Transport, Under-Secretary for Pensions, Chief Secretary to the Treasury. Worked in industry and as a Policy Fellow at Cambridge.
So not exactly inexperienced.

No less than Kemi Badenoch I would think.
Although, of course, Kemi has her working class credentials as she worked in McDonald's when doing her 'A' levels. Not sure how that works but no-one seems to have questioned it.

My Grandson is working at Macdonalds whilst doing his A levels. Don't knock it
a) at least they're working.
b) if you can work with the public in MacDonalds, you gain real work life skill.
b) have you ever worked in hospitality, it's bloody hard.

Not that I'd complain if the Shadow Cabinet has centrist elements...

We all know that FGT2

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Mon 04-Nov-24 15:20:08

Well Kemi Badenoch has shown her One Nation colours from the off then! Laura Trott!
It may be there are actually few to no conservatives left to choose from.
I will be staying with Reform.

Wyllow3 Mon 04-Nov-24 14:57:51

She promised Jenrick a place in the Shadow Cabinet when she became leader, but not sure how that would play out. She might chose people with less experience she can shape around her views.

It’s said by some that Badenoch will give Starmer a run for his money at the despatch box.

Anyone could give weak Starmer a run for his money at the despatch box but I fear that the Tories still have a long way to go.

Wyllow3 Mon 04-Nov-24 14:29:53

Someone called Laura Trott appointed Shadow Education Secretary - she's been a shadow under secretary in the treasury.

spabbygirl I don’t mind waiting a few months to see how the new opposition shapes up. I think it’s interesting that Kemi Badenoch shows loyalty to Boris Johnson. At the end of the day, most damage is done by the government and not the opposition.

I think she's awful, when I first saw her I liked her but she is just too aggressive and forthright and I don't like her views on maternity pay, NHS etc. In short, she could start a fight in an empty room. I'm sure sooner or later this will get her chucked out of the lead job.

Iam64 Mon 04-Nov-24 13:08:17

I know KB likes to be challenging and forthright but, seriously, saying Johnson was a great PM and partygate over exaggerated

Wyllow3 Mon 04-Nov-24 10:58:54

Too early to get a "flavour" of a new cabinet? I don't know these figures. Its who will be chancellor, Home Secretary ...

I presume that people who supported Badenoch strongly in the elections?

Casdon Mon 04-Nov-24 09:50:14

More appointments, Sky News again (they seem to have a hotline).

‘Sky News understands that Nigel Huddleston and Dominic Johnson have been appointed joint chairmen of the Conservative Party.

The role involves overseeing Conservative Campaign headquarters (CCHQ),

The two men, who held junior ministerial roles under Rishi Sunak, are expected to join the new Tory leader at CCHQ on Monday morning to meet staff.’

I’d love to have seen you dressed up as a whoopee cushion MissA.

MissAdventure Sun 03-Nov-24 22:08:07

Thanks, I am.
I should have gone to s services offices in my whoopee cushion outfit, I think.

MissA 💖

MissAdventure Sun 03-Nov-24 21:37:06

She briefly sorted out transport for my grandson to get to school (3 weeks, then it was cancelled by social services, with no prior notice, and him waiting at the window, excited because he was finally going to be able go swimming with the rest of his class)

In light of that, she came to my daughters birthday party, where I was dressed up as a whoopee cushion. smile

Wyllow3 Sun 03-Nov-24 21:31:03

She's been Deputy Chief Whip, (just checked to out) so no surprise.

MissAdventure Sun 03-Nov-24 19:35:06

I cam second that.
She is very good at taking on individuals issues and sorting them, too.

GrannyGravy13 Sun 03-Nov-24 19:29:29

Rebecca Harris is my MP, her voting record is not always to my liking, but she has been flipping good on local issues.

Quite a lot of looking up ahead since never had heard of R Harris and probable other faces.

My money is on the shadow cabinet being Home Counties/London-centric with a high percentage Oxbridge-educated. I bet Gareth Bacon gets a job.
