Not quite there yet, however . Get ready for yet more of his manic speeches
Cannot wait for his bat crazy eating garbage orange faced triumphant speech , he’s expected on stage very soon .

Brilliant Aveline, sadly!

Democrats have suffered “a total and complete repudiation” after losing control of the Senate while Kamala Harris fell short in the White House race, a party source has said.

The individual told Punchbowl News: “This was as bad as I’ve ever seen.

“This was a total and complete repudiation of the Democratic party. People are not buying what we’re selling. Period.”

For whatever it's worth, you Brits should know that approximately half of us "crazy Americans" feel sickened and horrified by the prospect of four more years of that monster in the White House. Due to our arcane Electoral College system, it could be more than half. Majority rule doesn't count in this country.
We in the blue (Democratic majority) states did what we could, but it was apparently not enough. The pundits will be yammering for weeks or months now about what went wrong.

So sorry.
Your pain and horror at seeing Trump elected resonates around the world.
😣

Thank you!

I have both family and good friends in your Country and know many of you are just as horrified as some of us here across the pond!

I sincerely wish you luck x

You were unfortunately rather stymied by Biden not really supporting Kamala.. dark days ahead for the whole world now I think..

I am interested to hear from somebody who actually knows what they are talking about?

How much power does he have or is he a figure head?

Thanks

Allira - yes, it was I who objected to the phrase. I still do. I understand that others are happy with this level of debate find it necessary to refer to me as the " thread police ".

It's ok, it is rude when used in that context, I agree, although the 'a' word is often used colloquially in different contexts and doesn't seem so rude then.

Bootlicking always reminds me of an over-excited dog I remember!

Boot licking is fine.
It's the word arse which is offensive, apparently.

Really, Fleurpepper? shock
I feel rather queasy now.

Bea65 Wed 06-Nov-24 15:40:35

IMO Elon MUSK bought Trump voters - of course we’ll never find out if this is fact or fiction as he’s Ttump’s ally… feeling very disturbed and family in Cali still trying to process this result..

Re the abortion debate. I will repeat story I have told before.
Two women known to me learned, during a scan, that their much wanted second pregnancy had resulted in a foetus with severe abnormalities that were not commensurate with life.
After much sadness and discussions with their families, one woman terminated the pregnancy, the second to continue to term. Her baby survived two days.
In the middle of such terrible grief, I am comforted that these women live in a country where the decisions were theirs to make, not those of the (old/male?) lawmakers.
Have pity for any American woman in this situation tomorrow.

Yes. I apologise. Boot licking

And you think this is better, really?

But as Trump wears a nappy and poos himself deliberately when angry- not even his best supporter would want to lick his *se!

Little factoid (probably known by many), the Amish came out to vote for the first time ever.
They must have thought it an unusual election to have made such a decision.
They generally hate anything associated with the English world

The catalyst was raw milk.

Just as good a reason as any other.

It is very expensive here, as I know, we have it delivered from outside of our county, as no farms produce it near by.
A valuable food source imo

Oh come on- the Amish can keep their own cows if they wish.

Can you explain your comments, please?

Simple enough, still a very rural community, with land and farms- so keeping a few cows for raw milk, either as families or communities, should not be a problem.

I think the raw milk from the Amish community is sold widely and there was a court case earlier in the year (was it because of listeria?).

Trump supporters turned up in support of the Amish farmer because, of course, they wanted their votes. The Amish community traditionally don't vote but Pennsylvania is a swing state.

I think Sarah Smith, the BBC’s America correspondent summed it up well when she said “ Voters were presented with two different versions of America - they chose Trump’s “

It’s as simple as that.

Nice! Like a lot of people they choose racism, false promises, greed and narrow mindedness.

The full horror of this is sinking in as the day goes on.

So all those millions are wrong and you are right. OK 🤣🤣🤣🤣

That's rather rude. What is good about him please? Which of his policies or speeeches do you like?

Thanks

I feel beyond sickened. There'll be dancing in the Kremlin tonight.

Not sure about that tbh on the face of it you’d think so but if things had been different Putin may have liked having a left wing softie liberal in charge of the US ( his thinking) rather than an unpredictable hawk type.

theunpredictable hawk type can easily be made into an ally- not the other one (whom you choose to call 'left wing softie liberal). Quite 'simple'.

Not to mention the well-known anti-vaxer, Robert F. Kennedy, who Trump may be lining up to put in charge of health. Good luck USA!

Remember what he said about oil, too. Drill, drill drill sad. All we need at this moment in time is a climate change denier.

foxie48 Wed 06-Nov-24 14:59:31

Sadly the Sarah Smith comment sums it up perfectly. Like many on here I have difficulty understanding why anyone would vote for Trump but perhaps that's because I'm not in the right sector of society. Denigrating people because their experience is different to mine is IMO not only pointless it's also completely unhelpful. I don't think Trump will improve their situation but they've clearly not been helped by the Biden administration either, so why wouldn't they take a punt on Trump? The problem that Kamala faced was not only her gender and colour but she was also too closely linked to an administration that many voters felt had failed them. That's a huge mountain to climb and she was also short on time and talent. The fact that the Republicans control the house and the Senate is also very worrying, the US could be in for a lot of change that could be quite distabilising
