Oh dear the crazy Americans seem to of voted in his favour yet again . A former president now with a criminal background . Could be reelected 50% to Kamala’s 49%
Not quite there yet, however . Get ready for yet more of his manic speeches
Cannot wait for his bat crazy eating garbage orange faced triumphant speech , he’s expected on stage very soon .

It's the cost of stopping those conflicts that concerns me. An apparently quick solution can leave open the door for more conflict rather than less.

Its aa bad day for those hoping to see commitment to climate change, as Trump doesnt believe its happening.

Correction - eye watering

Well I’m delighted. 🤩
Congratulations Mr. Trump. You’ve shocked the naysayers.
There will be howls now (think Brexit here). Some people only like democracy when their side wins.

Couldn’t have put better myself. He’s won fair & square!

Just listening to Starmer’s letter to Donald Trump! What a creep and turncoat Starmer is after all he said.

I repeat .... what else can Starmer do? He has a responsibility to act in the best interests of the UK, whatever his personal views. I am sure that it all sticks in his throat, but he is doing it for you and me. He cannot blatantly alienate someone so powerful who is able to make our lives and our commerce very difficult.

Babs03 Wed 06-Nov-24 10:25:25

Well even if posters are not bothered about getting rid of NATO which is sheer folly unless they support Putin and a resurgence of autocracies around the world. I wonder how they will feel after the US inflict watering tariffs on any trade deals we have with them, which is what Trump threatens to do, resulting in prices in the UK going up again. Happy with that?

Without NATO and with Trump possibly aligning himself with Putin the whole western world is in danger. Ukraine must now feel extremely vulnerable as must other nations previously part of the USSR.
Israel is another problem that Trump might seek to eradicate with a throwaway remark or post on X. Bibi is certainly hoping so. And with Gallant sacked Bibi is readying himself for the final push indeed he held on for this very result.

I absolutely agree wholeheartedly and anyone who doesn’t agree needs to take a good long look at themselves and consider how mentally stable Trump, Putin and Netanyahu actually are, not forgetting Kim Jong Un!

We will be living in a very dangerous world with very dubious allies for the USA.

ronib Wed 06-Nov-24 10:23:51

Yes Cossy it takes a super deranged man to take on other super deranged leaders. They speak each other’s language. More shame on them but we are helpless and just sit and watch.

ronib Wed 06-Nov-24 10:21:09

I have often wondered about the choices a foetus might make if it could be asked. Do you want a life or is it okay to be destroyed now?
I think for me a lived life suits best.

AGAA4 Wed 06-Nov-24 10:18:58

There is now a criminal as Potus. He will change laws to suit himself. Any charges against him will be dropped.
How can someone who flouts the laws of his country be expected to keep law and order in the US?

As a pacifist first, I don’t endorse the continuation of war. I don’t understand why anyone would? NATO needs to take a step back - it has not covered itself in glory. If it takes Trump in power, then so be it.

You genuinely believe Trump can stop Israel and Russian pray you are correct!

Good result for the USA. He listens to the people. All the attacks are personal

No, the “attacks” are not personal.

All he stands for sets young women back to Victorian times. I would hate my daughters to be in todays America! Pro life? No, it’s anti abortion, no one should tell any woman she cannot terminate a pregnancy, especially those resulting from rape or where an embryo would result in a very damaged baby!

I’m shocked, horrified and very sad!

We all know from his last stint as POTUS, that’s he is totally off his trolley, and very clearly, so are 52% of America.

I almost understand old white men voting for him, and the weirdo Bible Belt, but anyone else? 😱😱

madalene Wed 06-Nov-24 10:14:27

Sadly the Democrats have brought this on themselves and on America, and possibly on the rest of us. They hung on to an elderly man who clearly has either dementia or something similar, for far too long. They they parachuted Harris in at a late stage in the proceedings. I wondered if she was electable when that was done, and so it turns out, she wasn’t.

The Democrats need to choose better next time. They need to take stock and reflect on what they did wrong.

“Greyisnotmycolour- I feel just the same. To know that some on here actually support him and what he stands for - I just can't do this.”

I agree fleurpepper, although I do feel sorry for many Americans (particularly young women) waking up to this nightmare today. In their country the racist, misogynist bullies now rulesad

Fleurpepper I think you have over reacted. Trump is not our President in the Uk. He isn’t interested in the Uk and will put America first. We are a forgotten backwater. If Trump is able somehow to stop the endless slaughter of our young people in Ukraine and Israel, why is that not desirable?

It's how he'll do it that matters.

I do think its a dark day for the world, but I also think he will erode democracy in the USA by continuing to politicise justice so its under control by a ruling elite not for the good of all.

In his speeches, Trump has promised "revenge"

The world was in a dark place- and now tips even deeper. I feel sick to my stomach, heart and soul. I fear for my grandchildren and all the young ones out there.

Watched 2 documentaries recently on Trump supporters and rallies, and it is scary, terrifying. And this will affect us all- wherever we live.

Greyisnotmycolour- I feel just the same. To know that some on here actually support him and what he stands for - I just can't do this. Yes, America, you disgust me.

I agree.
Is a dark day today and those celebrating have no idea what kind of world they have just imposed upon those who live in other countries whose politics is affected by US foreign policy. Yes is a democratic vote but those abroad now rightfully worried - including Europe and the UK - didn’t vote for this. Zelensky will be very worried as will all countries previously ruled by the USSR, if Trump makes good on his threat to get rid of NATO Putin will be free to do as he pleases. And this is without even mentioning Israel and the fact that Bibi deliberately held off from calling a ceasefire in order to further his nefarious agenda with Trump.
If only this affected Americans I would say let them get on with it but it doesn’t and those celebrating on this thread are either very shortsighted or in agreement with Trump’s plans for NATO etc., perhaps they could clear that up?

LovesBach Wed 06-Nov-24 10:07:08

This man does not believe in global warming or, indeed, democracy, given his performance at the last election. I am not alone here in feeling extremely concerned that an elderly narcissist, who will blatantly, relentlessly lie, and will do anything at all including quite public bullying to become the most powerful man in the world. How has he been elected again?

Maybe see if it happens before all the handwringing.

Sensible as ever Oreo.

He may well go for a third term

He can’t.
I thought you’d have known that.
