Oh dear the crazy Americans seem to of voted in his favour yet again . A former president now with a criminal background . Could be reelected 50% to Kamala’s 49%
Not quite there yet, however . Get ready for yet more of his manic speeches
Cannot wait for his bat crazy eating garbage orange faced triumphant speech , he’s expected on stage very soon .

What has been said is on record and can’t be changed, all polititians get that sort of flack, it bounces off, coming from European leaders just means he is less disposed to us, so don’t expect any favours. Polititians should know when to keep heir mouths shut, but that’s not in the nature of them, they have to play to the audience.

The US voters have made their decision, Trump with all his failings is a better prospect than Harris with all her liberal policies. It wasn’t a marginal choice it was a resounding victory. Although Republicans control both houses Trump does not get a free run there are plenty of his own party who are moderates and would have preferred someone else

Musk is interesting, he gets things done, as Minister
of Technology he could really turbocharge the US economy.

Anybody else wondering how long it will take for Trump and Musk to fall out? Two egos the size of planets, in one little Oval Office. Could be fireworks.

I imagine that POTUS will want to keep Elon Musk on side, his multi billion dollar business employs 1,000’s and I imagine is good for the GDP of USA .

...But Starmer and Lanmy need to apologise??

Boris Johnson once made a damning observation about Trump - quite rude in fact - which ended (I can't remember the exact phrase) with the conclusion that Trump was not fit to be President.

I wonder if the same people who expect Starmer and Lammy to apologise also asked the same of Johnson?

Johnson not in Government anymore. These two are, unfortunately.

Johnson not in Government anymore

Missing the point somewhat.

Which is whether those same people calling for Starmer and Lammy to apologise also suggested that Johnson did the same when he was in government.

In other words, it's about the impartiality of those calling for an apology. Not the politicians involved in the name-calling.

Wow! Mt61 I couldn’t have put it better myself. How refreshing to see a post that doesn’t have any vitriol and name-calling.

Babs03 Thu 07-Nov-24 22:30:41

@Mt61
You seem to be a supporter of Trump so am curious, what are his actual policies and how do you suppose he will implement them with regard to funding etc?

Today bullying and evil have won.

Name-calling; lack of empathy; shouting louder than your opponent; humiliate; be-little; lie; break the law… all these have been legitimised today.

God help the world. And God help the young women of America.

Putin will certainly be celebrating!

TDS at its finest. Have you actually seen any of the campaigning? Plenty of name calling, lack of empathy etc has come from the Harris campaign (the absurd Hilter claim time after time after time). Lying? You’ve been lied to for so long about Bidens mental capacity by Harris and her party but it was only the office of POTUS so what harm can a weak leader do (apart from say allowing a Russian invasion of the Ukraine)? Beyond astonishing. Unfortunately some people seem to believe everything they see clipped up in the MSM (the claims there will be a bloodbath if he loses when he was talking about the auto industry) or read in the right wing despising Guardian. They call Trump the misogynist while all the while removing women’s safe spaces and allowing Trans to compete against women in sports. Everyone wants equal rights for Trans but when it infringes on women’s rights the line should be drawn (though obviously not according to the Dems).

There are so many areas where the left on both sides of the Atlantic gaslight their way through but now thanks to Social Media people can see the hypocrisy so easily and the arrogance of people claiming millions of Americans thinking they know better is astonishing and I think says more about them than those Americans who have seen through the biased - as witnessed by their reactions to the Trump victory - legacy media.

I’m wondering if I’m missing something critical as his leadership obviously appeals to some. Just out of interest which of his policies do you support and are you not even a little concerned that an inarticulate, felon, misogynist, racist weirdo is the leader and role model for democracy? I fear for the future of the planet and that my children and grandchildren have to live amongst this geo political madness.

Correction - his own VP not VC

Babs03 Thu 07-Nov-24 21:27:44

As was said on the politics show it wasn't just Starmer and Lammy making insulting comments about Trump, most European leaders have said something at some point about him, none of it complimentary, am wondering if one big apology by email with all the leaders and related ministers signatures, including his own VC would be acceptable.
And in the spirit of apology perhaps Trump could apologise to all the world leaders or associated ministers/colleagues he has insulted over the years, including Sadiq Khan.
I imagine his email will be lengthier.

I know what can you do when women wobt behave as you want them to.

Maremia Thu 07-Nov-24 21:06:12

A woman at a pre-election MAGA rally was asked why she was voting for Trump. Her answer, he was 'authentic'. Now I am not sure if she meant his fake tan, his bird nest hair, his religious beliefs or his sincerity. Authentic! There you have it.

Babs03 Thu 07-Nov-24 20:32:43

Trumps own VP Vance called him hitler a few years ago.

Fleurpepper Thu 07-Nov-24 20:22:46

Calling those comments 'meme' is just appalling.
All the signs are there, just as they were then.

Oreo Thu 07-Nov-24 20:07:02

The Hitler meme yet again.🙄

Mr Trump will be a dictator. Mr Trump already is a fascist.

This is the nub of it. Thius is why it's not a case of "not liking" him or one / another of his policies. Don't be complacent, it happened in Nazi Germany, the signs were there but no-one believed until too late that Hitler could become dictator.

Fleurpepper yes we’re in the same boat here. Certainly we want a fairer society but please why does it need to be open? Open in what way? Closed might be better?

Interesting reply- but I do not understand what you mean exactly. I mean open to those who are different from us, in so many ways, open to positive immigration, which we need to replace an ageing population, and in so many other ways. What do you mean by 'closed might be better'?

As for friends, I shall repost here the stats about who voted for whom (as they look very similar to who voted for what in 2016)

There we have it, replacement. Just what Blair and his globalist mates want for Western countries.

Allsorts Thu 07-Nov-24 19:36:46

The people that voted obviously see something we dont.

Oreo Thu 07-Nov-24 19:33:41

For goodness sake, why do we not ask WHY he has been elected? All the self-righteous, patronising remarks serve to emphasise that a certain section - over half, seemingly, of Americans - do not feel they have a voice and they are treated like dirt, called fascist, racist etc. by the woke brigade even told they are 'disgusting' (MissInterpreted, that last epithet is yours!). So Trump says he will be their 'voice' and they want to believe him - same as most of us want to believe our favourite party. Until everyone gets listened to with respect, until we can have tolerance, openness and equality for all, including those who do not agree with us, we will continue to have these stupid political situations, and these highly questionable people governing us.

Dear Trump Cheerleaders, just what was it the the serial cheating, draft dodging, hero mocking, convicted felon had over his opponent? Was it that he wasn't a black woman? Can females be misogynistic too?

Oh yes- it is just incredible to see so many women flocking to Trump. It is just unfathomable, and yet.

And all over the world, immigrants who have found their feet where they have moved to- become even more anti-immigration than others. In France, huge numbers of Lepen supporters are secondos and thirdos from Italy, Spain and elsewere. And same all over. Remember reading 'a view from the bridge' by Arthur Miller. Italian immigrants really denigrating a new wage of Italian immigrants in New York.

I had a cousin who was part Navaho and part Italian, from Naples- poorest of the poor- married to a third generation Swiss and German immigrant. They were racist in the extreme and would have voted for Trump had they not both died a couple of years back. The things they said about Obama and Michelle were truly awful- and we quietly cut ties with them.

Ask the 52% of US voters.

No point asking most people on GN.

Apparently it was largely to do with the US economy.
Money wins over most things for many. Including principles sometimes.
Eating is important.

People in the US and here seem to think[and have done for decades] that right wing Politicans are better with finances for the economy, than the left wing Politicans.

Fleurpepper Thu 07-Nov-24 19:19:08

Well, yes. And yet, with a declining population no longer replacing itself, and a large increase in older people on pensions that live much longer, that need to be paid for, as well as health issues, etc- one could argue that immigration is key to success in so many ways.
