I think it was rather the dangers of angering the President of the US than hurt feelings as such, y’know diplomacy and all that.

There was a very good question on Mental Health provision from I think an NI MP, and the perhaps the most moving moment was that clear point when it came clear the whole house supported the Ukraine - and no doubt all had on their minds the possibility that Trump might pull out of support.

So Keir Starmer is the PM and former director of public prosecutions whose job it was to ensure justice was seen to be done. No one is above the law (as we are told in liberal democracies). Yet he was congratulating Trump, Why ? A convicted felon, rapist, anti democratic revolutionary, alleged fraudster, all round bad guy. Why ? any respect for him and Lamy and most politicians now disappeared for me. Although I don't like Lamy for his support for genocide he should not be apologise to a vicious question from Kemi.

The kind of petty adversarial politics demonstrated during PMQs and many other debates (when more than a handful of MPs actually turn up) are point scoring juvenile nonsense. Our parliamentary system would benefit from more listening and less screeching, stomping and shouting. The behaviour during the budget was a particular low. This is not debate, it is not adult and it should not be acceptable.

She is just what the House of Commons needed...she's a breath of fresh air. So forthright and articulate. Starmer seems so insipid beside her.

The only difference is that you agree with what comes out of one mouth but not the other.

Badenoch accused the government of not mentioning defence spending in the budget. It did. 5 times. She criticises others for dragging up old tweets, yet dragged up something from 6 years ago to criticise Lammy. She accused Starmer of reading from a script whilst - reading from a script. So far so hypocritical.

Kemi Badenoch is putting what is best for the country first, unlike Labour who are very conspicuously putting what they consider appeases their party first.
I thought the title of this thread referred to Mrs, Badenoch demanding an apology for the tweet Dawn Butler forwarded, but wisely, she concentrated on repairing international relationships.

Starmer is so out of his depth as PM, but I am very surprised he has not sacked Lammy!

I don’t like Lammy, but polls out suggest only 18% of British people think Trump winning was good.

So, Badenoch seems more out of touch with voters, of all parties, than anyone else is.🤷‍♀️

I’m sure you’re right DiamondLily, Kemi B isn’t reading the room. Trump isn’t popular with the majority here, no matter which way they lean politically.
As for accusations of hypocrisy. Don’t be silly. We may not like it but Trump is the Potus and our politicians, business leaders etc will diplomatically work to establish positive working relationships. As much as that’s possible with a personality like Trump
