By January 2025 there will be two increases in energy bills on his watch. I am currently listening to Labour’s Secretary of State for Energy, who is repeatedly saying that bills will be £300 less, but adding by 2030.

So not any cheaper then as they are consistently rising…

Imo Starmer has been busy rebuilding this countries relationships with other countries; something that was somewhat sidelined by the previous government as they were too preoccupied with constant infighting and leadership elections.

Oh dear, not sidelined, just not a priority. This country is in an even worse mess than when the Conservatives left, and they weren't much use either. Now I look around, see the news, not bbc, and I despair even more. We are becoming a laughing stock, police knocking on someones door for criticism of hamas after their atrocity. This Government attacking working people, favouring foreign countries and it's people over their own, billions to Africa for farmers and pot holes. 500 million off our defence spending, when the Russian bear is showing his claws. Still with Starmer the farmer harmer popularity dropping by the day, perhaps we won't have to wait four and a bit years for them to destroy our country completely. Nothing you or any of the Labour grannies will convince me otherwise.

I think the (rotten) Tories had a word for these cuts. Erm… oh yes ‘austerity’.

I didn’t expect the government to find anything easy. 14 years of Tory mismanagement, of an unnecessary, destructive austerity approach to public services meant huge investment would be needed to scratch the surface to improvement.
The previous government could and should have settled the dispute with doctors. It suited them to let it run, in full knowledge Labour would have to sort it, along with trying to redress the other salary losses teachers, police, social workers etc etc faced

I’ll answer my own question then. Cameron gave us austerity. And then Brexit. May didn’t ’get Brexit done’ because of Johnson. Johnson then ‘got Brexit done’ (sort of) but, in the process got rid of pretty much most of the decent Conservative MP’s ( those who he didn’t actually get rid of refused to serve under him anyway), tried to illegally prorogue parliament amongst other things, and ended up leaving office in disgrace. Sunak called an election which resulted in such a humiliating defeat for his party that the few remaining decent MP’s lost their seats. Oh, and I’m forgetting Truss who, in the space of, was it,forty days (?) trashed the economy. Not bad for fourteen years in power. Whatever people think of Labour and Starmer it isn’t their fault that the Conservative Party had made themselves unelectable ( which they still are…).

The Tories destroyed themselves by getting rid of Boris, and deserved to be voted out but I am not really comparing with Labour. I have never voted Labour, its the party of tax and spend and they are living upto this. How do you defend losing the winter fuel allowance for pensionerswith the allowances they vote for themselves? Just interested to know.

Did they negotiate with the doctors or just give in? They certainly gave in to the train drivers. They are two powerful groups who now think they can get whatever they ask for. There are other equally important groups who can hold the country to ransom and they will be along with their demands too. The farmers could also copy the French and block road and ports. It wouldn't take them long to disrupt the nation's food supply.

I've heard people say they held their noses and voted KS in. Maybe they should take a trip to a dairy farm and take a good long sniff in.

When the leader of the political party you favour is criticised, deservedly or undeservedly, it feels like an insult to your intelligence. After all, you chose them indirectly! So you feel the need to fend off the attacks.
When posters start to call others infantile or insane in their affiliation with a particular party, as I saw on GN certainly over the past 4 years I've been here, it then becomes even more personal and offensive. Is it any wonder, now the boot is on the other foot, that some retaliation for that behaviour will occur?
