This is a very serious matter. How do you feel about the international community issuing an arrest of this man accused of crimes against humanity, genocide, starving civilians children and elderly disabled. Is he justified in responding to a terrorist group killing his civilians or has he lost his sense? Such a bad time with no foreseeable end to this terrible violence.

I didn't.

CariadAgain said it.
You defended her.

I don’t believe that. I think it’s propaganda.

Oh, for heaven's sake. This is a whole page of search results showing reports of the ignoring of the Israeli spotters who warned of unusual activity on the border and whose warnings were ignored.
Includes reports from 2023 by Haaretz and the Times of Israel. The Telegraph, the Financial Times and the BBC.

It took no time st all to find.

The determination of some to paint Israel as whiter than white is deeply concerning.

So you don't believe the Jewish people should have a homeland then?

^It's about time those Israelis that still think it's their country^

Jesus bloody wept.

How the hell did you reach that conclusion?

Disgraceful comment from you CariadAgain

The thing is, anyone could join Gransnet and post their propaganda.

Jaberwok

Within a week of the creation of Israel, she came under attack from surrounding Arab states. (The first Arab - Israeli war). This has been the pattern for Israel, from that time till now. No wonder she takes defence very seriously.

This.

Anniebach Sun 24-Nov-24 15:28:07

I do not believe there was knowledge of the attack by Hamas
such effort trying to lay all at the feet of Netanyahu,, who we are told has a prison sentence awaiting him,
He has served a total of 17 years as pm, the longest serving pm in Israel history. So we must believe Israelis knew of the attacks
on Gaza ?

Wyllow3 Sun 24-Nov-24 14:59:42

I don't feel any of us can really know.

I can't imagine for a second that had they known what would happen it would have gone ahead:

but Israel intelligence is one of the most sophisticated and successful in the world - and to believe they had no foreknowledge at all, when we have had people saying they did give warnings of something to come?

It's very historically controversial, jaberwok, because of what became known as the Nakba, or the expelling of civilian Palestinians.

The whole of Palestine was a power-keg in the 1930's-40's under the British administration. I support the formation of the Israeli State but not everything they have done!

Grantanow Sun 24-Nov-24 14:33:39

Anniebach and Wyllow, Israel is not a Jewish state .Netanyahu want you to believe this as an excuse for his colonising aggression.

The Old Testament says it is wrong to steal and to covet other people's things. (Ten Cammandments)But Israel has extended its 1967 boundaries into other folks' lands and farms. Now Israel is colonising the whole Gaza strip and the West Bank. This is theft with violence, pure and simple. And nothing to do with Judaism!

The OT does say that but when Moses led his people to the land of milk and honey it was already occupied by others.

paddyann54 Sun 24-Nov-24 13:38:24

Annie the JEWS head a place of safely the issue was their governments over the decades decided to expand the place they were given. They looted and razed homes threw families off land they had worked for a long time herded people into a tiny area withheld essentials from them and settled the stolen lands I don’t know what version of Israeli government you know but mine came from people both Jews and Palestinians who totally disagree with how the successive GOVERNMENTS have acted. It is NOT antisemitic to disagree with government just ask the ever increasing number of people of the Jewish faith who march in the PRO Palestine cause.Would YOU happily let your neighbour throw you out of your home ,treat your family in the most horrific ways and ignore the authorities attempts to make them behave …as ISRAEL has done time after time with UN resolutions?I doubt it!

Anniebach Sun 24-Nov-24 13:31:21

petal it came so naturally to him, this to troubled me

petal53 Sun 24-Nov-24 13:24:13

Yes, I saw that too Anniebach.
I think people are allowed to be openly Jewish in this country, whatever that means.
I think the policeman might have been more careful with his choice of words that day.

Anniebach Sun 24-Nov-24 12:53:17

A police officer at a demo described a man wearing a kippah
and leaving a synagogue as - openly Jewish , no matter what the man had done or the police officer thought the man may
do,- openly Jewish is antisemitic

Caleo Sun 24-Nov-24 12:40:51

Petal, The police aught to have stopped that demo for its hate speech.

petal53 Sun 24-Nov-24 11:40:07

I saw a placard on one of the pro Palestine marches that said Hitler was right. That doesn’t suggest hatred of Netanyahu, but hatred of Jews in general.

Anniebach Sun 24-Nov-24 11:14:58

Elegran
He makes it less safe by making life-long implacable enemies of the relatives and friends of all those dead Palestinians.
That is not only for the inhabitants of the State of Israel, but also for Jewish people around the globe who have been living amicably with their Gentile neighbours, but are now implicated in his actions.

So the rise in antisemitism in this country is the fault of one
Man ? Not true.

petal53 Sun 24-Nov-24 11:07:22

Unfortunately though, antisemitism is being displayed widely across the world, and is much increased since last year, after the massacre. Therefore whatever people on GN think about Netanyahu, the evidence over the last year seems to point to many, many people blaming the Jews, even those who don’t even live in Israel.

Wyllow3 Sun 24-Nov-24 11:01:20

Yes it is petal53, its that its important people are aware that if there is criticism of Netanyahu then it is of a specific Israeli regime, not criticism of Jewish people as a whole.
