Israel is a Jewish state. Although Israel has some Arab citizens, and some Christian citizens, and probably a few citizens of other faiths or none, primarily Israel is a state formed by the Jews, for the Jews. Any Jewish person who wishes to go to live in Israel is able to, and to become a citizen. That is not true of any person of any other faith in the world, so therefore Israel is a Jewish state.

He makes it less safe by making life-long implacable enemies of the relatives and friends of all those dead Palestinians.
That is not only for the inhabitants of the State of Israel, but also for Jewish people around the globe who have been living amicably with their Gentile neighbours, but are now implicated in his actions.

Netenyahu will continue to ignore international opinion, the threat of trial and imprisonment means nothing to him, he believes in the action he is taking.

He is Commander in Chief of the IDF who he is asking to risk their lives for the nation, any penalty that he faces are nothing in comparison. All the talk about taking him to court is just talk and means nothing to him or Putin or Hamas leaders or any other despots.

We are talking about Palestinians rather than Muslims so can we please talk about Israelis rather than Jews. Otherwise we get bogged down with matters that are not political.
But in answer to your question ‘no’ Israelis will not have a place of safety if it is built upon the elimination of another people. Netanyahu has not made Israel safer but far more dangerous, already Israelis are leaving the country, some because they are conscription age and don’t want to be a part of the war, others because they can see how Netanyahus war games has drained the country economically and made the nation a pariah state.

But they won't even have succeeded in ridding themselves of ALL the Palestinians - in any genocide there are always those who somehow survive, or are out of the country at the time, and have links with those who died. These people will not forget, and they will not forgive.

This is just as there are Israelis with links to those who died in October 2023 who will not forgive or forget. The difference is in numbers. The sum of future hatred generated into the world by the Israeli overkill more than equals that generated by the Hamas attack. It exceeds that by the ratio of the death and destruction of the past 13 months of bombardment to the death and destruction that triggered it, which is a far higher ratio than the Biblical prescription of an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.

Yep. We all sat comfortably at home and watched genocide in real time, wondering when and how someone would make it all stop, but nobody did.

I have just been to a talk by someone who has worked regularly with the children in Gaza over many years. He says that much of Gaza is completely flattened, and it will take many decades to clear the land of toxic substances including asbestos of which many buildings were constructed. There are also hundreds of bodies buried in the rubble, and body parts are visible everywhere. It is completely stomach churning.

No one, Israelis or Palestinians will be able to live there safely for decades to come.

Well, I've given my thoughts, that I worry its part of the current regimes Endgame, and damages chances for negotiation, and makes matters worse, ie just inflames,

Its an uncomfortable but key question, because it involves not defending Israel, but actively taking territory from Palestinians and incorporating it legally into Israel (there are a number of legal steps but thats whats happening).

In the current Israeli cabinet, Smotrich the finance minister, actively supports the annexation of settlements in the West Bank.

This effectively scuppers what for many years the international community has been trying to foster, which is a two-state solution.

You do realise Caleo that the majority of protesters attending marches in the UK and other countries are from Muslim communities? They identify with Palestinians for that reason.
