With regards to Haaretz, it is the source for me of what is really happening in Israel. Countries that attempt to censure news from their own press are a cause for concern.

Netanyahu crimes
(247 Posts)This is a very serious matter. How do you feel about the international community issuing an arrest of this man accused of crimes against humanity, genocide, starving civilians children and elderly disabled. Is he justified in responding to a terrorist group killing his civilians or has he lost his sense? Such a bad time with no foreseeable end to this terrible violence.
And it really has happened, here we are at day one of many, many to come I sincerely hope.
Now to do the same for Gaza, though that’s looking a long way off. Keep thinking positively. 🕊️

BREAKING NEWS:
Israel has agreed a ceasefire with Hezbollah.
It’s a very welcome first step. Now let’s hope the Knesset approve it.
The N Israel/Lebanese border has seen many rockets going in both directions this afternoon.
Point taken. I know of thousands of people. Thanks.

Of course Netanyahu wants to shut them up/down. They have exposed his lies from the start.
I know thousands who are totally anti-Netanyahu- and very critical of what has been done in Palestine - but none of them are anti-semitic at all.
You know thousands of people ? Not possible

I’ve just had a look at Haaretz which I read regularly and their headline reads Netanyahu’s government wants to shut us down
The government has apparently imposed sanctions on Haaretz.
Yes, David49, I am uneasy about the retention of Israel’s right to attack if a violation by Hezbollah is perceived - that feels very subjective to me. But then I am aware that rockets have been flying into Israel for nearly 20 years.
The Lebanese army will need much support from the UN and the five countries, not just moral and financial support but actual boots on the ground I feel.
Gosh, this is being a very long day. 🕊️

Any ceasefire will last as long a Hezbollah cease firing rockets into Israel
Wether the Lebanese army are effective enough to control the terrorists has yet to be proved
True, but Israel has been very effective in getting rid of those at the top of Hezbollah food chain so a good time for a ceasefire.
They’ve been firing missiles into Israel since the day after the October killings by hamas and are paying the price of that just as hamas are.
On antisemitism I think/know it’s always there both simmering under the surface and overtly but it’s given them a self righteous reason to show it during the last year.Anyone who will threaten /attack British Jews here is showing their true colours as they have nothing to do with the Israeli government.

Thoughts to Israel and the Lebanon for a plan that stops the killing.
On a school trip to a farm just North of London, my five year olds were happy to wander around with staff and parent helpers, all learning a lot about the different animals.
Another school trip was escorted by bodyguards wearing body armour. They were clearly identifiable as being Jewish by their clothing and hairstyles. The adults in that party were clearly on the alert for abuse.
This was about ten years ago.
Similarly a Jewish family living near my last home had a police escort as they walked to and from their synagogue on a Saturday morning.
Anecdotal I know but I feel antisemitism has always been there and the Gaza conflict has brought it to the fore.
Meanwhile, today the Israelis are discussing a peace plan with Hezbollah. The BBC site says there are no big obstacles in the way unless Mr Netanyahu changes his mind. So much power resting with such an unstable man. Please send positive thoughts to Israel. 🕊️
Afraid to wear school uniform travelling to and from school
because Hamas launched an attack on Israel 7th October 2023
I do wonder if this harrowing Gaza war has increased antisemitism worldwide or just uncovered it.
I would think uncovered it is probably correct although I coul be wrong. It is often below a conscious level but takes something like this war to bring it to the surface.
Why, for instance, should British Jewish school children in this country be assaulted and many now afraid to wear their school uniforms in the street because of the actions of the government of Israel?
That’s an interesting question, has the Gaza situation increased worldwide antisemitism or uncovered antisemitism?
I don’t know.
I just know I’m more aware of it happening now.
I do wonder if this harrowing Gaza war has increased antisemitism worldwide or just uncovered it. Israel has always used antisemitism as an name-call to deflect any criticism of its actions as a nation. In the UK to be labelled antisemitic is a huge stigma.
Many of us have been compelled to criticise Israel in recent months, not wanting to be complicit in genocide. I don't believe we are anti-semitic now, & we weren't before Netanyahu's actions.
But there are always those who hate another group (LGBT people, muslems, neurodiverse people face negative perceptions all the time from a minority). For a longtime the taboo on expressing antisemitism kept a lid on this - maybe the criticism of Israel recently has got the antisemites crawling out of the gutter.
I appreciate that the incidents are just as upsetting & deplorable either way, but it's not the same. I think nearly everyone can see the difference between a rogue government and a religion - it's not a subtle one.
Gaza is becoming medieval, when cities were put under siege the population either surrendered or starved. It may take a long time for Hamas to surrender.
In an unsurprising turn of events, Israel and Hezbollah exchanged missiles over the weekend. Hezbollah’s volley included 250 rockets, which ended up wounding seven Israelis on Sunday when some of the missiles landed in the Tel Aviv area. The rocket barrage was a response to an Israeli attack on Saturday, which killed at least 29 people and injured 67 more in the central Beirut area. Another Israeli attack on Sunday – this time targeting a southwestern Lebanese army center – killed one person while injuring 18 others.
Meanwhile, the IDF ordered the evacuation of more parts of northern Gaza over the weekend, forcing hundreds of Palestinians to flee the area. The Israeli attacks only add to the hellish situation in northern Gaza, according to multiple international aid agencies – tens of thousands of people in the area are unable to access water, sanitation, food, and medical supplies thanks to Israel’s sustained offensive. Over the weekend, a senior member of Israel’s security cabinet said that the IDF would be stationed in Gaza “for years,” stating, “Gaza will never be a threat to the state of Israel, no matter how long it is going to take … I think that we are going to stay in Gaza for a long time … I think most people understand that that will be years.”

There, that’s two lines, is that acceptable!
If that's what she wants to do then fine it is up to her as I said, but it doesn't do her any favours when people are trying to figure out what her real arguments are and what kind of information she has to support them.
But it is what it is.
Oh, do give over.

Anniebach I think it’s time for either a glass or cup of something cheering.😃
