A new WASPI petition has been launched.

I realise there are always lively debates on this subject, but for those of us most affected it is important to keep campaigning.

madalene Fri 22-Nov-24 11:42:03

I didn’t know that. I’m affected, but I don’t believe anything will happen, however many campaigns are launched. Governments of all colours simply wait for the people affected to die. Look at the dirty blood campaign and the Post Office campaign.
What’s happened?
Zilch!

Sarnia Fri 22-Nov-24 11:45:58

Still completely ignores those women born before 1950.

HeavenLeigh Fri 22-Nov-24 11:46:03

I’m affected too, but I agree nothing will happen, I won’t hold my breath!

madalene Fri 22-Nov-24 11:49:21

It’s ignoring all women Sarnia.
They will wait for us all to die.
It doesn’t make any difference which party is in power either, they will all do the same thing.

Aveline Fri 22-Nov-24 11:52:16

Signed but fully expect nothing to come of it.

Still completely ignores those women born before 1950.

Women born on or before 5 April 1950 weren't affected by the increase in state pension age.

Done thank you.

LizzieDrip Fri 22-Nov-24 13:25:27

Signed👍 Not holding my breath but it’s good to keep the campaign alive.

Added my name.took 2 minutes.
Nothing ventured nothing gained and all that. 😊

spabbygirl Fri 22-Nov-24 13:37:39

I've just signed, nothing ventured etc. Not that we want it to happen, but surely if someone did die, their executors could claim on their behalf?

Signed. I creep in the top end of 1950's and expect nothing but fingers crossed. I'm still waiting for my first payment next year.

AskAlice Fri 22-Nov-24 13:50:25

Signed.

Me too. I think we've (still!) got a long wait even after all these years, but the important thing is to keep pestering because governments insultingly adopt the default attitude "women will always put up with being rubbished or just die".
I suspect the current government would favour the latter.

"women will always put up with being rubbished or just die"

I agree mae13.

I’ve always thought there’s a sexist / misogynist element to this issue. I don’t think any government would have, so rapidly, increased the pension age of millions of men by 6 years!

But of course, they thought that 50’s born women would just do their ‘womanly duty’, shut up and suck it up.

They were wrong!

Spinnaker Fri 22-Nov-24 18:41:12

Signed 👍
