Is Queen Camilla more poorly than we think?

She wasn’t well enough to attend the Remembrance Service. Now it’s been confirmed that she will not be going to the Royal Variety Performance tonight. (Not that I blame her, I’d duck it too if it was on my itinerary). However these engagements are 3 weeks apart. It got me wondering. I hope she’s okay.

Allira

I'm taking iron with Vits B as well but this virus seems to be the gift that keeps on giving!

I know what you mean. Every time I think I've turned a corner it just starts again. My poor nose is raw, literally bleeding and scabbed from blowing it.

vintage1950, I had what I thought was a flu type virus and tried to keep working. My gp wrote a sick note against my instructions, no I said, I can’t take time off this week. You can and will, he said, you’ve got pneumonia, go home to bed. I was about 43, so a much fitter woman than I am now at 75. I really feel for Camilla, this will take some time to recover from. I hope she’s able to avoid too much exposure to other people, her immune system will be low. Plus she’s faced the awful reality of a cancer diagnosis in her husband (and the Princess of wales)

I've had a mild viral pneumonia, many years ago. Had a persistent cough and felt rather unwell but not so bad I couldn't get on with things and was very surprised when GP told me what I'd got. She's clearly being well looked after and has the opportunity to rest and recuperate.

Apparently she now has post viral fatigue. I had that after covid and am still not back to my usual self several months later.
Rest and a good diet as well vitamin supplements will help, I have taken feroglobin, gentle iron with vit B complex, can also get it with vit D and ginseng.
Seems to be helping 🙏🏾

Yes Kate1949 I just read it on BBC News, poor woman

Kate1949 Tue 03-Dec-24 15:17:18

Apologies. She has HAD pneumonia, wasn't hospitalised and is recovering according to BBC News.

Anniebach Tue 03-Dec-24 15:10:50

Does she ? there is a video of her with the King welcoming the guests

Kate1949 Tue 03-Dec-24 14:50:07

She has pneumonia

I think Camilla has probs had a whole bunch of illnesses like my other half, it started with a nasty cold and awful cough which then turned into a nasty chest infection that then turned into sinusitis he is on his second lot of antibiotics.
Is never ending.
Hoping all those struggling similarly this winter manage to surface soon.
🌺🙏🏾

It's the outdoor bit at Horse Guards that Camilla is going to miss, and I've just read that the Princess of Wales is stepping in for that part.

MissAdventure Mon 02-Dec-24 22:36:23

Hopefully she's just resting up, and waiting until she's feeling 100 percent better, rather than struggling on, feeling unwell.

Iam64 Mon 02-Dec-24 21:12:33

Camilla has always seemed like a stoic who cracks on with what’s expected of her. She must be feeling washed out. it’s a pity she can’t just rest up and recuperate without exposing herself to all the awful viruses going the rounds

The Queen is to miss the ceremonial welcome during the Qatari state visit due to the lingering side effects of a chest infection, Buckingham Palace has announced tonight.

Camilla, 77, is expected to attend other elements of the day as planned.

It is understood the programme has been tweaked because the Queen, who contracted a chest infection after her long haul trip to Australia and Samoa, has been left with significantly diminished reserves of energy.

Whitewavemark2

We had the nasty cold that lasted about 3 weeks and still felt total exhausted even then. We then went on a short break, and on return to cut a long story short, DH has recently returned from hospital having survived sepsis, which started with a uti and quickly developed into sepsis.

I am convinced that if he hadn’t been so run down after the nasty viral cold this would not have happened, and the bacteria would not have been able to exploit the situation.

He is clearly going to take weeks/ perhaps months to recover fully.

I think the moral of our story is to be kind to yourself and rest, rest, rest if your body is indicating that need.

My sympathy whitewave I think this vicious virus doing the rounds feeds on previous problems - and triggers them.

DH has been told explicitly that the viral infection he had six weeks ago triggered the acute heart problems he has had since and has led to weeks of hospital treatment and the permanent decline in his health that has followed.

Allira Thu 28-Nov-24 20:56:07

I'm sorry to hear that, Whitewave

Having had sepsis myself, I know it can be frightening and can take hold when your immune system is low. Mine was knocked out by medication.

I hope he makes a good recovery, boosting his immune system with vitamins should help; it takes time.
Vitamin D, C, B vitamins, minerals, and I hope he has had a blood test to see if he needs to take iron too.

Best wishes.

MissAdventure Thu 28-Nov-24 19:18:53

Sending all good wishes to you and yours, Whitewave.

escaped Thu 28-Nov-24 18:55:16

Every best wish Whitewavemark2.

Whitewavemark2 Thu 28-Nov-24 18:51:33

Thank you for your kind wishes.

Recovery is going to take ages I think, but as long as he remains well, I’m ok.

Casdon Thu 28-Nov-24 17:43:45

Sorry to hear about your husband’s illness Whitewavemark2, I hope he recovers quickly.

Iam64 Thu 28-Nov-24 17:06:21

Whitewave, sorry to hear what a tough time you’ve been having. Hope your husband recovers well

LizzieDrip Thu 28-Nov-24 16:59:09

Whitewave I’m so sorry to hear this about your husband. It must have been such a worry for both of you.

I think you’re right regarding being run down - look after yourselves now and take it easyflowers

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Thu 28-Nov-24 15:37:27

So sorry to hear of the stormy time your husband has endured Whitewave. Such a shock.

theworriedwell Thu 28-Nov-24 15:17:13

I had a cold six weeks ago which rapidly turned into a chest infection. Two lots of antibiotics later I'm still coughing and still feeling rotten although not as exhausted as I did. I'm just hoping I feel better by Christmas as we will have a houseful.

I can well understand her not wanting to go out, DH wanted to take me out for a meal, he's disabled and can't cook a proper meal, he thought it would be a break for me but the thought of going out and sitting in a restaurant, choosing food, waiting for it to be served and then eating it made me feel like bursting into tears. We ordered a takeaway.
