Is Queen Camilla more poorly than we think?

She wasn’t well enough to attend the Remembrance Service. Now it’s been confirmed that she will not be going to the Royal Variety Performance tonight. (Not that I blame her, I’d duck it too if it was on my itinerary). However these engagements are 3 weeks apart. It got me wondering. I hope she’s okay.

So do I as that family have already been through enough. Whether or not you agree with royalty, we do have them so we can only wish them well.

BigBertha1 Fri 22-Nov-24 15:20:59

Chesty colds can hang about at this time of year and be very draining. If one were to speculate which one shouldn't especially about royalty (used to be treason) our dear Queen is an ex-smoker and may well find recovery slower than non smokers.

Royal Variety Performance with a cough ?

Calendargirl Fri 22-Nov-24 15:31:55

I assume the King is going?

If so, I expect someone will be drafted in to accompany him.

They probably draw lots, hoping it’s not their turn to attend.

Joking aside, I hope the Queen is soon better.

I wish the Queen a speedy and full recovery.

As we age it takes longer to shake off infections, I guess she is running on empty after the stresses and strains of the past year.

She’s a smoker so it maybe one of those lingering coughs, that drive people mad in the theatre…

Probably heartbroken about her dog too. Get well soon Camilla.

If it's the same virus that I had, which is doing the rounds and so many people have (not Covid), this is the first day I haven't coughed except for a little first thing this morning. Touch wood.
That's five or six weeks of a very irritating but not chesty cough.
I don't smoke either.

Sarnia Fri 22-Nov-24 16:43:25

The aftermath of chest infections can linger so she may have been advised not to be amongst large crowds at the moment, just to be on the safe side. No, FriedGreenTomates2 on a nippy November evening I know where I would rather be and it wouldn't be the Royal Variety Performance.

theworriedwell Fri 22-Nov-24 16:45:34

I've had a bad chest infection, 12 days ago doctor in A&E said it was 50/50 that I'd be admitted, I got to go home. 12 days on after a 5 day and then 7 day prescription for antibiotics I'm still not 100% and I'm younger than the Queen.

I'm also a lifelong non smoker so I can't even blame that.

Yes, I know how long it takes not to have teary eyes and low mood after that.
I hope she is on the mend soon.
Is The Princess of Wales doing her carol concert this year?

B9exchange Fri 22-Nov-24 17:03:04

Yes, Katherine will be doing her Carol concert.

BlueBelle Fri 22-Nov-24 17:05:43

Many people here are having Covid symptoms being really bad for longer periods but testing negative I don’t think the tests have kept up with the changes in the virus

Thank you. I enjoy that.

I suspect that the Queen has the really vicious chest infection doing the rounds, as others have mentioned. DH and Ihave both had it. I usually get over these thngs in a week but with this one it was nearly 3 weeks before I felt well again.

DH's attack of it was so bad, it triggered his other health problems and ended with him having a fortnight of almost daily health interventions and it has significantly damaged his health.

I felt ok after a few days but quite tired and my iron levels were rather low, apparently, although that could have been a coincidence.

It was the irritating cough which was draining and annoying.

I hope your DH feels better soon, is he taking Vitamin D and other any other vitamins to boost his immune system?

She gave up smoking 20 years ago.

Casdon Fri 22-Nov-24 18:06:02

I don’t think she is very unwell, because according to BBC News

‘She returned to public duties last week, but is understood to still be under the weather after a busy week of engagements.’

She’s probably tired and run down, but it doesn’t sound serious.

Primrose53 Fri 22-Nov-24 19:13:43

I hope she gets well soon. I have rather warmed to her recently.

madalene Fri 22-Nov-24 19:26:00

I feel the same Primrose.
I hope she gets well soon.

MissAdventure Fri 22-Nov-24 19:40:54

She is a smoker, still.
Plenty of pictures if her with a fag on the go.

Ilovedogs22 Fri 22-Nov-24 19:41:24

I'm not a royalist butI think Camilla is a wonderful force of nature & very attractive. However, don't forget that she will be receiving the very best of healthcare & be toasty warm too, unlike the rest of us poor Plebs who just pay the taxes & get sub-standard healthcare & can't afford to heat our homes properly. Open your eyes people, don't believe all the spiel.😬

I thought she gave up years ago because Charles disliked it so much.
