Is Queen Camilla more poorly than we think?

She wasn’t well enough to attend the Remembrance Service. Now it’s been confirmed that she will not be going to the Royal Variety Performance tonight. (Not that I blame her, I’d duck it too if it was on my itinerary). However these engagements are 3 weeks apart. It got me wondering. I hope she’s okay.

vegansrock one of our friends has had the chest infection bug/virus which seems to be doing the rounds, she is still feeling exhausted, coughing, wheezy with no appetite five weeks on. Three courses of antibiotics, no more allowed.

Rest, rest and more rest, wishing you well.

💐. Rest up and recuperate vegansrock.

I’ve got a horrible bout of bronchitis which I am trying to fight off. I’m a bit younger than Camilla, but it’s knocked me for six and I still feel dreadful after 4 weeks. I’m on antibiotics which have had zero effect. It’s as much as I can do to lie on the sofa Let alone go out and about. These things take longer to recover from when you are older.

Exactly Iam64, thank heavens indeed.

Thank heavens for gransnet the. Silverlining48, keeping you up to date with the essentials 🌞

I didn’t even know Camilla was sick. Nor that she smokes or smoked or that her dog died. How does this pass me by. .

Anniebach Tue 26-Nov-24 11:57:08

She was a heavy smoker ? I assume she gave interviews and said how many she smoked daily

Allira Tue 26-Nov-24 11:29:22

Oh crikey, crossing bridges before we get to them!!

Fleurpepper Tue 26-Nov-24 11:18:32

Fingers crossed. She was a heavy smoker, and even though she has stopped for a while, the legacy can be brutal, as was for my cousin.

Charles would fall apart without her.

I believe she’s off like a bolting rabbit to spend a belated Christmas at Ray Mill with her family as soon as all the Sandringham stuff is over and done with.

Sounds good to me!

Anniebach Tue 26-Nov-24 10:59:10

So many at Sandringham over Christmas , and she spends
time with her children and grandchildren as well, all with the
press waiting for !

Calendargirl Tue 26-Nov-24 10:32:09

And of course with Christmas coming up, she’ll be expected to appear at Catherine’s Carol Service, hosting the lunches for the minor royals who don’t get the invite to Sandringham, Christmas Day at Sandringham Church plus walk about, then the big Christmas dinner there…

And yes, I know she won’t be peeling potatoes and sprouts, rustling up mince pies and sausage rolls, basting the turkey….
but it still will be daunting if you don’t feel 100%.

A chest infection can rattle on for a long time but imagine she is getting excellent medical care and advice, the advice being no royal duties right now. Like many of us as we get older we often have other underlying health probs and am pretty sure she does too.
I imagine she will wait until the new year now.

merlotgran Tue 26-Nov-24 09:44:12

The late Queen had the right idea by insisting everything from a mild sniffle to full on snot as a ‘chill.’

I used to imagine her propped up, wearing a lacy bedjacket, delicately sniffing while flunkeys brought her an endless supply of soothing potions. We were none the wiser.

Get well soon, Camilla. Even those of us who have never smoked know what it’s like trying to shake off a hacking cough.

Iam64 Tue 26-Nov-24 08:36:24

A serious chest infection takes time to recover from. I once had 3 lots of antibiotics and steroids. A friend who was younger had 6 weeks off work - let’s hope Camilla is recuperating

escaped Mon 25-Nov-24 21:46:05

Yes, I think I agree that it might all have just caught up with her, and she has nothing left to give. I'm pleased she has chosen, or been advised, to take time to recover.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Mon 25-Nov-24 21:39:17

Indeed Anniebach very true.

Anniebach Mon 25-Nov-24 21:21:21

She may have exhaustion, she has had a very stressful year,
when Charles was first having treatment she carried out duties
on her own, must have stressful when Catherine was diagnosed, too much stress in one family

Iam64 Mon 25-Nov-24 21:08:43

FGT - I hope you’re wrong but fear you may be right

Labradora Mon 25-Nov-24 16:52:58

I had wondered about this.

Hope nothing too serious and that she recovers soon.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Mon 25-Nov-24 16:12:44

I just have a ‘feeling’ about Camilla Fleurpepper no more than that. I hope I’m wrong, but you sense it too.

Fleurpepper Mon 25-Nov-24 14:18:02

I thought we were talking about Camilla here, not Kate or Catherine.

And yes, I do think Camillais proably more ill than they let on.

theworriedwell Mon 25-Nov-24 14:15:09

I always use my DDs correct name. Her friends call her something else. I don't think it's the gotcha people think it is.

Grunty Sun 24-Nov-24 11:49:01

For 40 years I'd always been addressed by a shortened version of my rather unusual name; it was easier to pronounce, easier to spell and just a more common version of my real name. But as I got older, I decided to reclaim my name; in it's proper pronunciation, it's beautiful and unique. More importantly, it's my name, the one my parents chose especially for me. My name doesn't sound "more royal", but it is MY name and their came a time when I wanted to use it. Maybe Catherine feels the same way.

No different to other names in the family , William , Elizabeth
