Pensioners paying income tax don't need WFA. It would have been so much dangerous if HMRC were just asked to cooperate with DWP and only those NOT paying income tax still got it. At least for this year anyway.

As for Brexit we would be the laughing stock of the world and the rest of the EU would take us for a vast amount of money if we tried to reverse it.

That is how long this government has been in power.

The Tories had over a decade to completely trash our public services and economy, and they did so with skill and thoroughness.

This petition is undoubtedly being fuelled by Musk. The vulnerable are being led by the nose.

But nothing will come of it as we all know.

Sorry rowyn Parliament does NOT have to hold a debate, it will only be "considered" for a debate if it gets more than 100,000 signatures ( source petition.parliament.uk ). The petition was started by a Tory voting pub landlord, and the majority of the signatories are concentrated in conservative or Reform safe seats ( what a surprise!) ( source independent.co.uk ).

There seem to be very short memories of what a mess we were in before the last General Election. A lot of the measures needing to be taken now are because of the problems which were left by the previous Government .

I agree. Just what on earth do people think the Tories will do ?

Really, money laid by for projects in planning under the Conservatives, well it's become a a bigger mess under Labour, massive pay rises to already very well paid train drivers. The Dr's yes, but they're going on strike again in January, they now know they can hold the Gov to ransom. Billions to Africa, one of the first things they did, not necessary, while in the meantime helping destroy family farms and eventually our food supplies, whilst encouraging cheap tasteless imports from abroad. Taking money from people who were born here, and helped to build this country, many of them now feeling the cold,. Asylum bill rising exponentially, these people are so happy Labour are in, they said so in Calais, no disincentive now , is there. If you think this is a good thing, there is no hope for this country under a Labour Government.

Well said Freya5 . There is definitely no hope under this Labour government. The rich will just leave, the laziest will just carry on claiming benefit after benefit and the hard working middle classes will be screwed within an inch of their lives. No incentive to work hard and save at all.

Pensioners paying income tax don't need WFA.

I disagree. Income tax kicks in at £12,571 and whilst any pensioners on the higher rate of income tax would not need the WFA, those on an income of £12,571 or just above might be struggling. It would be better to continue with the WFA for those pensioners rather than find that they end up in hospital with cold-related illnesses, costing the Government more in the long term.

I tried to find out how many people were entitled to vote in the Brexit referendum. I THINK there were about 68 million but the brexit vote went through on 17.5 million. Would you call that democratic.? I still only know of 2 people who admitted to voting for brexit

In 2019 a petition calling for the government to ‘Revoke Article 50 and remain in the EU’ garnered over 6 million votes.

It was the most-signed government petition in history.

What is interesting is that those signing the petition are still believing the lies of the ringleaders.

Petition won't make the slightest bit of difference, they never have and they never will. Any more than protest marches do.

A handful of MPs will 'debate' this petition in Westminster Hall and an anodyne response will be published.

Far more than that voted for parties other than Labour back in July so they are probably no great fans of the government. What’s more remarkable is that anyone is taking this stuff remotely seriously. In this new world, anything you don’t like can be reversed within minutes. Apart from Brexit. That must never be tampered with under any circumstances.

We have arrived at the point where the wokest people are those who rail loudest against the wokerati. Poor Nige. Can’t manage another second under a Labour government. Of course, like most things Farage, he tries to pass it off as just a joke. A bit of populist mischief-making. But you just know that – beneath the surface – he’s deadly serious. Because if there was any chance of blagging a general election through the petition, he’d take it.

Fourteen years of mismanagement, a disastrous Brexit. It's going to take a good few years to sort out the mess. Give them a chance.

Not even 6 months into the job and some are setting up infantile petitions to have an election. I think the electorate made their feelings very clear in July.

Many Labour supporters also disgruntled, especially those struggling without WFA. Or are they on the right as well.

I disagree as well, MP’s who pay income tax do not need fuel allowance either.

About 46 million would be eligible to vote in Parliamentary elections then, plus the 5.5 million UK citizens estimated to be living overseas, and potentially eligible to vote at the EU Referendum.

68 million would be the total population but not everyone is eligible to vote.

About 46 million would be eligible to vote in Parliamentary elections then, plus the 5.5 million UK citizens estimated to be living overseas, and potentially eligible to vote at the EU Referendum.

It was a relatively high turnout for the referendum at 72.2%

A bunch of people, who think that there's a quick fix for the mess left behind by the last government. Fantasy thinking stirred up by those who bear responsibility for the mess.
