Did anybody else see the video of Yvette Cooper in a Morrisons store handing out mince pies today?
It was hilarious because a local female resident could not resist going over and telling her what she thought of her and the Labour party.
She has just been on GB News talking about how very disappointed she has been and that she has always been a Labour voter. She told YC exactly what she thought in a very restrained way. She also said Yvette was making out she was donating mince pies but Morrisons donated them. She also ignored a homeless man who always sits outside the supermarket and did not offer him one.
This smart shopper told her exactly what she thought about the way Waspi ladies have been treated, how they keep on about a massive black hole yet they are giving more than that away to foreign countries for climate research, illegal immigrants, Ukraine, etc etc. she ended by saying she should be handing out blankets to freezing pensioners not mince pies.
She was just a 52 year old Mum but she was great!
Good on her I say.

Sent too early. Well done for starting a very goady thread.
It's Christmas eve. Why be nasty about anyone. This thread is full of goodwill. Well done to Primrose for starting a
Why does anyone having a go at YC suggest a real lack of warmth, humanity, or humour?
Because they don't think it's fair that anyone should have a go at their personal choice of political party, that's why. My memory isn't what it used to be but I'm fairly confident that their wasn't the outpouring of annoyance, or any begging for warmth, humanity or humour when Farage got milkshake thrown at him. Mince pie gate will be the least of Labour's problems if they don't improve on these survey results pdq.
IPSOS survey:
61% of Britons say they’re dissatisfied with Keir Starmer, his worst performance as Labour leader
Overall dissatisfaction with the Government remains high at 70%
Economic optimism continues to deteriorate, with 2 in 3 (65%) expecting the economy to get worse over the next year – the worst score since the end of 2022

I don’t understand. People have a go at politicians all the time. All parties, all politicians. It’s normal. The MPs know and expect it. So long as no violence is involved, then it’s par for the course. Someone threw milkshake at Nigel Farage during the election campaign. Someone threw eggs (?) at John Prescott some years ago. MPs are used to it. If they can’t take the heat they need to get out of the kitchen. Why so many on GN are so very offended on behalf of YC is beyond me. Criticism is actually allowed in this country.
The thing is Petal, it is okay to be nasty about Tory politicians - the nastiness around Johnson for e. but heresy to criticise Labour. Politics was never nice - a rough old game.
I think KS is in the wrong job. I don’t think he’s suited to being PM. There are a few rumours that he’s not happy in the role, but who knows, maybe just gossip.
Actually I don’t care what any of them are doing. It’s Christmas. Enjoy 🎄
At least YC engaged with angry lady!
KS was confronted in a Liverpool coffee shop. The lady was pointing out certain issues in a robust way. She spoke for a good minute. Keir just sat there looking petrified. Didn't say a word.
Eventually his minders asked her to leave

Three cheers for Yvette Cooper for getting out there meeting people and listening to what they have to say - she could have been at home making mince pies after all.
And well done to the lady who took the opportunity to say what she thought.
I guess this will be a ‘Brenda from Bristol’ moment.
Let’s celebrate that we are able to speak freely, and try to use that freedom kindly.
So agree with this balanced and spite free post. Well done!
Oreo YC has been handing out mince pies in her constituency for twenty years. It’s a local tradition.
Has she made it into a “media stunt” for the past twenty years? The only reason anyone (apart from locals) now know about it is because this woman chose to hijack it - fortuitously filmed it and got straight onto GB News. Quelle surprise🤷♀️

Honestly - finding it ‘hilarious’ that someone has a go at Yvette Cooper suggests a real lack of warmth, humanity or humour in life
God it's depressing here.
Oreo the mince pie tradition is 20 yeas old hardly a "stunt"
Likely set up as an annual tradition "meet your MP" way back.
Meanwhile in Clacton, 'You'll have had your mince pies'.
Merry Christmas Everyone

Excerpt Cooper didn't film it and find it "accidentally" on tv.

I would have liked to see KS handing out mince pies & maybe blankets ha- now that would have made good viewing!
M161 KS is probably out of the country on yet another trip unless he's in his freebie box at the Emirates watching Arsenal.

Primrose from GB news online:
The Daily Mail has suggested that the voter is a "very active" Reform UK supporter who has previously barraged the Home Secretary with abusive emails
Nannato2 so nothing. I don’t care who this woman supports - I was simply relaying what has been reported.
Merry Christmas🎄Thank you Lizziedrip.
"The Daily Mail has suggested that the voter is a "very active" Reform UK supporter who has previously barraged the Home Secretary with abusive emails "
This whole thing has "pre planned media stunt" behind it.

…so does handing out mince pies in a supermarket.
Can’t you find anything else to have a dig about! Why shouldn't she, or anyone else, have a dig at a politician who she's annoyed with? If it had been Farage in the supermarket, handing out mince pies, would you have been similarly disdainful that he'd been approached and heckled? No? Thought not.
Honestly - finding it ‘hilarious’ that someone has a go at Yvette Cooper suggests a real lack of warmth, humanity or humour in life Oh get over yourself Iam64! Where was your warmth, humanity or humour when politicians from opposing parties were being heckled by a member of the public? Or is it just when it happens to be a member of a political party that you support?
I am not a Labour supporter, never have been I doubt I ever will be.
Politicians of all parties like to be seen as of the people and therefore do these stunts even more so at Christmas.
It is the electorates right to let our elected representatives know how they feel, it is one of the ways that MPs get first hand knowledge of how they are perceived.
Whether I think this ladies actions were was right or wrong is irrelevant, I do defend her right to do them.

*ronib*.
Britain hasn't been self sufficient in food since the 19th century. At which time the population was tiny in comparison with today. Why do you think our navy spent much time guarding convoys of food imports in WW2? And this was despite the fact that farms were producing as intensively as they knew how and huge numbers of the population were 'digging for victory. But we still had rationing and apparently nobody saw a banana for years..
A moment or two of reflection might bring to your mind a list of common foods which can't be grown in meaningful quantities in the UK. Like... 🍌 😒
Well seeing as the Government are so happy to support african farmers instead of our own, says a lot.
