Yvette Cooper gets minced

Did anybody else see the video of Yvette Cooper in a Morrisons store handing out mince pies today?

It was hilarious because a local female resident could not resist going over and telling her what she thought of her and the Labour party.

She has just been on GB News talking about how very disappointed she has been and that she has always been a Labour voter. She told YC exactly what she thought in a very restrained way. She also said Yvette was making out she was donating mince pies but Morrisons donated them. She also ignored a homeless man who always sits outside the supermarket and did not offer him one.

This smart shopper told her exactly what she thought about the way Waspi ladies have been treated, how they keep on about a massive black hole yet they are giving more than that away to foreign countries for climate research, illegal immigrants, Ukraine, etc etc. she ended by saying she should be handing out blankets to freezing pensioners not mince pies.

She was just a 52 year old Mum but she was great!
Good on her I say.

Can’t you find anything else to have a dig about !

buffyfly9 Tue 24-Dec-24 02:15:01

Yes, I saw it too and had a good laugh. I couldn't work out why only YC's lower half was visible but it was clearly her. I expect she was tired after handing out the mince pies (let them eat cake anyone?) and returned to her second tax payer assisted home nicely warmed by her heating allowance because after all, she is a very important MP and must be seen to move amongst us.

What an awful thread! So we should ignore wars in Europe, climate change and the misery of illegal immigrants! Let's just think of our little island and ignore the rest of the world and our collective future!

ronib Tue 24-Dec-24 05:47:04

mumofmadboys whoever the Uk ignores is very selective. The beggar in our midst is invisible. Yes we should ignore wars in Europe - Europe is happily ignoring us. Yes let’s just think about our tiny tiny island for once. No one else will.

eazybee Tue 24-Dec-24 05:55:36

I don't know the name of this person but she presented the unvarnished truth in a restrained yet pungent way. This country most definitely does not ignore the plight of the dispossessed, but this government it is spending the money of the people who have earned it with a reckless disregard for their own well-being and safety.

BlueBelle Tue 24-Dec-24 07:20:18

Well said mumofmadboys so little thought for anyone or anywhere except to dig insults at someone in such a pathetic way So very narrow minded brains never thinking beyond this small sinking island
Ronib I thought ‘the majority’ wanted to separate from Europe hence Brexit so now you complain they are not bothered about us 🤣 you couldn’t make it up
Such a mean minded thread Freya

Anniebach Tue 24-Dec-24 07:26:47

I am puzzled how it was easy to know who it was when only her
lower Half was visible , most odd

Exactly, season of goodwill and all that!

Three cheers for Yvette Cooper for getting out there meeting people and listening to what they have to say - she could have been at home making mince pies after all.

And well done to the lady who took the opportunity to say what she thought.

I guess this will be a ‘Brenda from Bristol’ moment.
Let’s celebrate that we are able to speak freely, and try to use that freedom kindly.

We are fortunate here in the UK, not only can we approve our elected representatives but we can let them know our opinions on their decisions and actions.

👏👏👏for democracy!

GrannyGravy13 Tue 24-Dec-24 07:44:33

Approve should be approach

Oh so we are not allowed to have a dig at the very obvious cock ups this awful Gov have made since day one.
This lady said what millions are thinking, good on her.

Anniebach Tue 24-Dec-24 08:07:26

I cannot claim to know what one person is thinking, to know
what millions are thinking ? Horrific

Sarnia Tue 24-Dec-24 08:09:02

I am with Primrose53 on this.
Why shouldn't a UK resident have her say? Charity begins at home, in my opinion.
The climate will not change much until China, India and the US come on board and with Trump upcoming that will not happen on his watch.
Illegal migrants cost us millions in hotels and preventative measures (ha,ha) to stop the boats.
We won't stop throwing money at these when it could be used far more productively.

Casdon Tue 24-Dec-24 08:17:20

As exclusively reported by the right wing press. Well done Yvette Cooper, it’s good to see politicians on the front line taking it on the chin rather than avoiding their constituents.

Iam64 Tue 24-Dec-24 08:23:41

Honestly - finding it ‘hilarious’ that someone has a go at Yvette Cooper suggests a real lack of warmth, humanity or humour in life

LizzieDrip Tue 24-Dec-24 08:27:24

Just a couple of facts:

Yvette Cooper has given out mince pies in her constituency for the past 20 twenty years.

The woman who confronted her is a well known supporter of Reform UK PLC, who has recently been sending Ms Cooper a series of ‘unpleasant’ emails.

Anyway, Happy Christmas Primrose - peace to you and yours!

Chocolatelovinggran Tue 24-Dec-24 08:30:41

So - an elected representative listened to a constituent who listed her shortcomings.
Well done to both, I'd say, celebrating our rights as citizens to declare our views and the ability of an MP to take it on the chin.

mumofmadboys whoever the Uk ignores is very selective. The beggar in our midst is invisible. Yes we should ignore wars in Europe - Europe is happily ignoring us. Yes let’s just think about our tiny tiny island for once. No one else will.

But this tiny islaand of ours cannot live in isolation. It is dependent on the rest of the world for so much else from the food we eat to materials and items that make our homes liveable.

We are dependent on legal immigrants for the operation of our health services, the care of our elderly (us) and service when we have as much as a coffee outside our homes.

Global warming affects everyone. This week it was announced that within a few years one in four houses in this country will be at risk of floods. Mine is one of the houses under threat. When we moved to our current home nearly 30 years ago the last two floods to affect our village had been in the 1890s and 1947. This year the village has flooded 3 times, it flooded last year, and the year before that. It hasn't reached our house - yet. but the road floods.

If you want to go off and live in your isolationist hobbit house, well, that is your choice, but I care about my children and grandchildren - and other people's children and grandchildren - and climate change is a planet problem and we cannot isolate ourselves.

LadyGracie Tue 24-Dec-24 08:34:38

Agreed Primrose53.

There are some pretty nasty people on Gransnet, we are all allowed an opinion, or are we?

Why shouldn’t we think of ourselves and our country first and of a lot of our own people in dire straits.

Those in power certainly don’t.

MaizieD Tue 24-Dec-24 08:37:15

Handing out mince pies in a supermarket seems like a very odd thing for any MP to do.

Whitewavemark2 Tue 24-Dec-24 08:41:39

Now I understand why I am no longer interested in partaking in the N&P threads - it’s the tiny narrow mindedness.

Still one thing that helps to balance the pettiness -

Since Labour took office there have been 29000 forced repatriations. Up by nearly 30% since this time last year.

Labour has now in place a number of agreements - negotiated by Cooper- with various countries which will help with repatriation,

Reasons to be cheerful eh?

ronib Tue 24-Dec-24 08:44:48

Monica so we are dependent on the rest of the world for food? I thought British farmers were capable of producing food here well at least until Labour won power.
You do realise that the Uk is responsible for only a tiny fraction of global warming? We’re impoverishing ourselves and for what?
The Uk needs to adjust. Its days of Rule Britannia are well over.

So what? This woman has every right to email Cooper expressing her views, and you have no idea what details were in her ‘unpleasant’ emails. As for being a Reform supporter nothing wrong with that.

Completely agree with Primrose on this.
