Chief reporter Daniel Boffey hits the nail right on the head!

Neither if those camps that should say.

Galaxy Tue 07-Jan-25 07:29:19

Yes I think it is a form of institutional cowardice, and distraction. You trying to use the victims to try and stop me saying that isnt going to work. The victims as they are ordinary women and girls hold all sorts of views and beliefs, some will support Musk, some wont. I belong in neither of those csmos to be honest.
As I say the 'be kind' stuff doesn't work with me, I have seen it used before and it was disastrous for women and girls.

When you say people who talk about Musk are guilty of a form of cowardice you are saying that you consider them to have cowardly qualities or behavior; that they are cowards. Otherwise why use such an extreme description of a group of people who could be anyone, including victims of rape, etc., who were not vitims of the particular groups that are the only perpetrators Musk is chosing to highlight.

Galaxy Tue 07-Jan-25 06:55:10

I don't respond to emotional blackmail, it was a technique used in all the gender ideology debates, (when the progressives harmed women and children under the cover of being the good guys) so many of us are familiar with it and have considerable experience of not responding to it.

Galaxy Tue 07-Jan-25 06:52:35

Oh you are doubling down, excellent.
So we are clear then I didn't call the victims cowards.

PoliticsNerd Tue 07-Jan-25 06:47:57

I think it is easier to talk about Musk than to discuss the issues relating to the child rapists. It is just distraction and a form of cowardice. (*Galaxy*)

Instead of labeling this as "cowardice", we should be able to have open discussions. You seem to be trying to shut such conversations down with no thought for how your comments may affect victims.

Can you point out where I have called the victims cowards.

You didn't, your words were twisted and that was a disgraceful accusation.

So how do you think all those who have been assaulted, attacked, used and/or raped must now be feeling?

I imagine it's triggered some terribly. But you would call these people "cowards" because they don't fit your bias. Shame on you.

Casdon Mon 06-Jan-25 21:03:48

On a thread which is about an article about Musk it’s perfectly reasonable to discuss Musk Galaxy. If you want to talk about the child rapists specifically, why not start your own thread about that?

I think I’ve just read the best description yet of Elon Musk.
F+&£#@g moon howler 😂

I think we should take the war to Musk and enquire about the extent of his crusading in South Africa and if he has done nothing, and I am pretty sure that will be the result, we can accuse him of hypocrisy and, by doing nothing colluding in the abuse of vulnerable children.

Sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander.

I don't think we should engage with Musk .. I much prefer Keir Starmer's approach of not even naming him..

Iam64 Mon 06-Jan-25 19:28:17

MOnica - that would be interesting.
David49 - my comment about Musk as a Bond villain wasn’t an exaggeration - it was irony. But - some truth in there

I’m another who appreciated the way Starmer spoke today. The grown up in the room

Well, we want to "get on" with the USA foreign relationships wise, as in a normal diplomatic way, but Musk is a thorn in the side of getting there as long as the USA administration is letting Musk fire off his broadsides against our government - just read 50 since Jan 1st.

Starmer didnt mention him today, well done him.

M0nica Mon 06-Jan-25 14:59:26

Why are we all so obsessed by Elon Musk. The man is not a British citizen, he does not live here and does not have a vote,

More to the point, I think he is South African. Could we know about his votiing record there and whether he has raised his voice on the subject of child abuse there. The South African experience of child abuse is that it is extensive, especially of pubescent girls What has he said and done about that.

Wyllow3 Mon 06-Jan-25 13:55:45

Also I wonder how the unknown to us Richard Grenell (Trump appointment as foreign policy adviser) feels about Musk dabbling in foreign policy. Has it been discussed? Musk seems to be doing what Trump used to - fire off policy tweets at odd hours.

Wyllow3 Mon 06-Jan-25 13:50:01

If Trump does will he still be allowed access to X? Or at last curb it?

Babs03 Mon 06-Jan-25 13:33:18

I imagine Trump will tire of his latest plaything. If Musk continues to hog the limelight instead of Trump and eclipses his rep as a media menace, there will be a parting of the ways.
Trump has always had a fixation with certain people, singing their praises, before dropping them like a hot potato.

Wyllow3 Mon 06-Jan-25 13:26:47

I agree pascal

Read what he said this morning.
