Chief reporter Daniel Boffey hits the nail right on the head!

He says what a lot of people are thinking but are afraid to speak out for fear of being branded racist/homophobic, etc.

That is what they always say about 'pub bores'

There is no evidence it is true.

Well maybe some of the things Mr Musk suggest that he just might be a misogynist racist homophobe.

He is pushing for an enquiry after the racist, misogynistic, homophobes raped thousands of young girls across the UK.

I see no harm in that.

Daniel Boffey bless him.
You do know that some of the feminist writers left the guardian due to the intolerable working environment.
We arent in a Disney film you know, the world cant as easily be divided into goodies and baddies.

Can you link to the article you are talking about please?

This is the one I read but it doesn't really sound like the one being talked about here:

Also, it was "X" contributors not the Guardian who started the "pub bore" companion.

his comments – which have been compared to those of a “pub bore”

Pub bores don't usually have the power to follow through their opinions.
Musk does.

Yep, love0c, that’s freedom of speech for you!

What do you mean?

GrannyGravy13 Sat 04-Jan-25 10:51:18

Even pub bores are entitled to their opinion.

If we all kept our thoughts to ourselves, never discussed anything, what would be the point?

FlitterMouse Sat 04-Jan-25 10:57:39

Another misleading thread title.

No, the Guardian has not branded Musk a pub bore. This is what Boffey wrote:

The world’s richest man has been using X to lob insults and slurs in the direction of the prime minister, while teasing the prospect of donating tens of millions of dollars to the Reform UK party.

This potentially gamechanging money has meant his comments – which have been compared to those of a “pub bore” by some users on his own social media platform – have provoked (arguably unmerited) political reaction and media debate. So what issues have been enraging Musk?

He then goes on to report what Musk has been saying about grooming gangs, Yaxley-Lennon, Reform and the British economy.

Rory Stewart on TRIP doesn’t underestimate just how powerful and dangerous Musk is. Listen at 31 minutes:

Musk is supporting Tommy Robinson. I think Musk is a dangerous "bore".

Chief reporter Daniel Boffey hits the nail right on the head!

Problem is, he's not just your average pub bore who holds court in the Cock and Bull, he's rich and powerful with the ear of the POTUS elect and other politicians.

That story is far more interesting than boring Elon.

I see no reason why UK politicians have to listen to Musk. He shouldn't have any power in the UK.

I note that even our very own home grown pub bore, Nigel Farage, is rowing back on Musk's support for Tommy Robinson.

(Though I don't suppose that would stop him taking Musk's money)

Things are hotting up all round:

“Sir Keir Starmer is bracing for a major row with Donald Trump within days of the president-elect entering the White House after the Prime Minister was accused by Trump supporters of criminalising free speech.

Elon Musk, Mr Trump’s most high-profile backer, has been using his social media platform X to campaign against restrictions on free speech in the UK imposed by courts and Parliament amid a perceived rise of Islamism in the UK.

Sir Keir has already come under attack in the US over plans under discussion to ban content from social media that is deemed harmful even if it is not illegal.

Matters are expected to come to a head at the end of January when the trial of the alleged Southport knife attacker Axel Rudakubana - whose arrest led to riots last summer - is due to begin on the same day as Mr Trump’s inauguration.

Free Speech campaigners said the row would present a major diplomatic headache for Lord Mandelson, due to take over as ambassador to the US later this month”

Musk's mission is to sow unrest and distrust, hatred and division in the UK (and other instances like in Germany)
He consistently mentions "civil war". He's doing this from his own international social media platform. It does us no good as a country - we can make our own politics thank you very much....

He's criticising us for issues that he is not acting on/posting on within his own country, and that should be a real lesson

Wyllow3 Sat 04-Jan-25 11:39:40

And thats a prime example FGT of Trump/Musk trying to mess with us on UK matters. It's not their business.

LizzieDrip Sat 04-Jan-25 11:48:37

FGT how do you feel about Trump / Musk interfering in UK politics?

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Sat 04-Jan-25 11:50:00

I knew you’d like my post ladies!
Shows I’m even handed.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Sat 04-Jan-25 11:54:25

LizzieDrip - it would seem that the only way Starmer could stop overseas comments would be to ban the 'X' platform entirely. That will be put us on a par with china .....
