Thanks for that flittermouse - I don’t follow the shenanigans too closely - but I suspected that Farage hadn’t given up control.

Absolutely, Maybee. The public are being played.

Habib was sacked by Farage.

I loved your quote from Monty Python's Life of Brian.
It made me laugh out loud. Very apt.grin

So, Musk falls out with Farage because Farage has stuck to his principles and doesn't want Tommy Robinson anywhere near Reform. I would go for Farage's principles over Musk's money every time.

Yesterday you wanted both! It grieves me, but yes, I agree with Farage about Tommy Robinson, he is not some sort of folk hero, he is a criminal.

"He is not The Messiah, he is a very naughty boy"

The only reason Farage is distancing himself from Robinson is that he has to pretend that they don’t share the same political beliefs even though they do.

I too wish Ben Habib were more involved. He wasn’t selected as an MP though. Then he left.

Musk will fall out with Trump next.
After the inauguration.

Whitewavemark2 Sun 05-Jan-25 16:42:16

What’s the betting that they will be all cozying up at the inauguration?

This really is a pantomime.

Mt61 Sun 05-Jan-25 16:42:01

I much preferred Ben Habib

Musk has seen far too many Bond films: he probably really does believe "Ha! Ha! Soon I will completely control the world!"

All he needs now is a white Persian cat with a diamond collar.

But he'd do well to look back to the Wall Street crash of 1929. It happened so fast that men who had been powerful multi-millionaires one day were jumping to their deaths the next, broke and ruined.

Excellent response from Farage.
Measured & calm as usual.

Measured and calm??!! That is not Farage’s default setting however much he would like you to think it was.

What a hoot.

If it all wasnt so serious.

Reform has just 5 MPs. 5!

More votes than the wet dems, who should be the ones with only 5 seats.
Yet Rupert Lowe etc are standing up for British people more so than Davey. In fact all of those 5 have more nouse about them than all the wet dems put together.

😄😄 that’s not how I would describe it!

I wrote about this on the other thread. He was making a lot of noise about "surrendering" his shares but retaining the party leadership. There is nothing in Company House records yet that says he has done so.

Last year, the company was technically insolvent, owing Tice over a million pounds. He was repaid £200,000 in the summer, sources say as a sweetneer so that he would step aside as leader in favour of Farage but that still leaves £800,000 owing which must give his a good deal of leverage.

Did Farage get rid of his shares, as he threatened to do at the end of the summer? If so I bet he is regretting that decision!

"^Speaking to the BBC's Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg, Farage described Musk as a "friend^" and said he planned to "have a conversation with him on a variety of things" - including Robinson - at the inauguration of President-elect Donald Trump.

I saw this on LK this morning and Farage was fair bursting with pride as he spoke. Now the poor chap has to face the fact that his friend may not be up for having that conversation after all and his invitation to the inauguration might even get lost in the post. In exchange for his promised donation, Musk seems to want to call the shots. Is Reform up for being dictated to like this?

LizzieDrip Sun 05-Jan-25 15:46:01

It would appear free speech is only allowed if it agrees with Mr Musk. Farage is now finding this out (it’s been obvious to many of us for a very long time)!

HousePlantQueen Sun 05-Jan-25 15:36:53

Well, as Farage told LK on BBC this morning, he supports free speech. gringringrin

GB news currently reports what Farage said before the elections on Tommy Robinson

"However, tensions rose when Musk came out in support of campaigner and former English Defence Leader Tommy Robinson, someone who both Farage and Richard Tice have distanced themselves from.

Farage said: "Everyone says, well, what about [Musk's] comments on Tommy Robinson? Look, my position is perfectly clear on that. I never wanted Tommy Robinson to join UKIP, I don't want him to join Reform UK, and he won't be."
"He later said: "Musk sees Robinson as one of these people that fought against the grooming gangs...the truth is Tommy Robinson is in prison not for that, but for contempt of court."

"We're a political party aiming to win the next general election. He's not what we need."

Well, I never thought I’d say it, but in terms of Robinson aka Yaxley )aka other names!) I actually agree with Farage! He’s not just not what Reform needs or wants, no political party needs or wants him.
