Trump in fighting mood

President elect Trump was in fighting mood yesterday with his promise that 'all hell will break loose' should Hamas not return the remaining hostages before his inauguration.
He also wants to take by force if necessary, Greenland and the Panama Canal.
Oh and the little matter of changing the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America.
Strap in everyone, we're in for a bumpy ride.

Meanwhile, Trump is blaming Newsom (governor of California) for the terrible wildfires. Unbelievable. (short video)

Apparently there has been $millions reallocated to the homeless of LA which would (could?) have gone to the Fire Department. Less Fire Department personnel.

This is being given as the reason for some fire hydrants to be empty (not sure how the US system works) and fire crews have been using swimming pools as a source for water.

The above was discussed on ITV breakfast news this morning.

Perhaps Musk could turn his mind to producing clean energy as well as just electric vehicles.

Philippa111 Thu 09-Jan-25 13:44:42

Trump is a narcissist. They like to appear omnipotent. He's high on power and speaking like a dictator. He and Musk are a very unpleasant duo!

Wyllow3 hopefully Elon Musk will concentrate on his electric vehicles, space programs and satellites.

All of which could be beneficial to mankind…

I imagine that POTUS Trump’s ego has been sorely dented by unguarded and deliberate slurs aimed at him by politicians and media worldwide since his last tenure of the Whitehouse.

His response is to come out fighting

I doubt very much if all, or even any of his threats will be carried through

I hope so, certainly agree it's true to an extent. the politics of far leaves a lot to be desired. And yes, the sooner the bromance breaks up the better, what will Musk do with himself then.

GrauntyHelen Thu 09-Jan-25 13:19:02

He really needs a nice quilted jacket that buckles up the back !

knspol Thu 09-Jan-25 13:07:23

Trump and Musk in partnership does not bear thinking about. Hopefully Musk will turn his back on Trump at the first disagreement and the bromance will be over and then just one
fantasist in charge of what is probably the most influential nation in the world.

In Trumps position I would talk tough too we will see what his actions are soon enough.

What exactly is Trump's 'position' that he needs to talk tough about?

Is the US seriously threatened in any way?

mabon1 Thu 09-Jan-25 12:48:57

The man is crazy.

David49 I admire your confidence. Trump going into this presidency is very different to the Trump who went into the Presidency last time. He is less rational, and far more willing to disregard all accepted norms the get what he wants.

We may manage to come out of the next four years safely, but I wouldn't want to bet on it.

“Accepted norms” yes he threatens to break them but others blatantly break them China, Russia, Israel and others. In Trumps position I would talk tough too we will see what his actions are soon enough.

I am curious to know how Trump negotiates with Putin over Ukraine as we all know that Trump is going to stop the war. So war should be over very soon?

Trumps "fighting mood" is just Trump the Man Baby having one of his routine brattish tantrums, and I should imagine Musk is right in the firing line.

I hope.

Trumps extreme way of setting policy aims doesn’t bother me, because it won’t happen, he’s no more going to take over Canada than move the White House to the moon.

It’s his way of negotiating, other leaders know that, he didn’t start a war or do any thing extreme last time he was president, this time he aims to end 2 wars.

It’s become Dr Strangelove. Two egomaniacs in charge of the world. It’s terrifying. So agree we are so vulnerable as no longer in the EU. Who to blame? Farage and Johnson.

Wyllow3 Thu 09-Jan-25 00:27:44

I think we have to try and trust that people in the USA will set limits: Trump mouths off big time a great deal but there's a lot of things he has said he will do that are very controversial. And he won't be able to deliver on easily, like grocery prices.

Lydie45 Thu 09-Jan-25 00:06:57

I find it very worrying, he is a mad man who could destroy the world. If it was a film people would say it’s too far fetched.

Journalists need to find some real issues to write about and give less time to attention seekers like Musk, Trump and various Tory so-called leaders. Of course, it's easy for lazy hacks to write up cheap rhetoric rather than search for real news.

Yes they should concentrate more on showing up the hypocrisy of this Gov.

Oh, I've been fuming! I could barely watch the news yesterday. Knowing him, he will start inciting mobs to march over the border, which by the way, he is calling an imaginary line. Funny how their southern border isn't imaginary, but needs a wall.

I can feel my blood pressure rising. Today at work, a younger person said it would be a good thing, to which someone else retorted to 'just move there'. This is already causing division here at home.

US is not subsidizing Canada! They have a trade deficit, which means they purchase more from us than we do from them. In Trump's twisted mind, he has turned that into a subsidy.

The dangerous thing is that the more misinformation he spews, the more people believe it and don't check any facts.

He can say the same for UK, you have a trade surplus of 72 billion GBP, so he can say that he subsidizes the UK.

Hello😊.

I’ve been waiting for your comments.

Thank you for putting that straight.

Thanks from me, too. Always good to get some local knowledge!
