Indeed, but the point is under our rather antiquated and flawed system, they did win with a good majority.

I think people are drawn to Reform for a number of reasons, certainly immigration is very near the top of the list.

I think Farage fans like him because of his “blokey, pie and a pint” facade.

Cossy we met him many years ago, he was articulate, intelligent and very polite.

I can understand why people are drawn to vote for him, especially when looking at the two main parties who appear to be so similarly to each other.

I really struggle with the insults on the N & P threads, it is just point scoring against posters with different views as opposed to discussion.

Reform is a change party something different but not politically significant in this parliament, yet they are generating probably 100 times the publicity of all the other small parties combined.
I have no idea what their policies are and nor do most others, yet they polled 14 % of the vote in the GE, thank god we don’t have PR.
In 5 yrs time with proper organization and finance they could hold the balance of power, as we saw in the Brexit vote there are a lot of voters who think the Tories are too soft. They believe migration is the root of our problems in the UK and will vote for them on that policy alone.

Farage is on record as saying he wants a US style insurance based health care system. This is a huge red flag for me because I was hospitalised for 10 days when in the USA on holiday and the cost was $120,000 twenty years ago. I was insured thankfully but it took several months for the insurance company to pay up, the hospital gave debt collectors my number and they were very aggressive in requesting payment even though I assured them the insurance company was covering the bill; being hounded like that is the last thing you want when you are recovering from an illness.

The only other policy I know of is that Reform want to raise the tax thresholds eg the lower rate of tax not to apply until earnings are £20,000. This sounds wonderful but when you look at the numbers it doesn’t seem viable, if this was the ruling the tax payer would save £1500 a year so the Treasury would lose that amount multiplied by the number if workers which is 33.77 million and the eye watering amount is £59 billion six hundred and fifty five million. These figures don’t include pensioners who pay tax.

So perhaps the Reform supporters on here could respond and explain how these two policies would work?

For clarity I am not a Reform member or voter.

I am not impressed by any of the parties, I did vote in the 2024 election for the sitting MP in my constituency due to their local record, not because of the party they belong to.

I honestly don’t know why you have to clarify that you don’t vote Reform.

I would imagine the slogan would be very attractive to some. I am sure many would not particularly associate it with Trump.

If most people had felt as you do, the Labour Party wouldn't have got in with a landslide.

I'm not sure what you mean by plausible alternatives resolutions, but they have stopped the strikes, are working to cut queues for medical treatment, have extended the cheap bus fares scheme which was due to end in December (albeit by raising the fares by £1), have increased the number of people claiming Pension Credit, ramped up housebuilding, pledged to keep the triple lock on pensions and more.

To be honest Whitewavemark2 I don’t think any of the current cohort of politicians of any colour have the stomach to do what is needed.

My humble opinion is that you have to speculate to accumulate, the government should have been ready to go on their election, after all their back room politicos have had 14 years to prepare.

Her change to NI will stifle a lot of businesses, they should be encouraging businesses of all size.

When businesses bloom and grow they employ more staff, more taxes for the treasury, more money circulating in the economy, more investment in businesses.

They should be employing more council staff, police, fire personnel etc. again more revenue for the treasury.

All RR is interested in is cuts and taxes.

I know Ian Murray has run several businesses, so yes. Maybe others, I haven’t checked.

Reform are doing fantastically well, their membership is increasing by the minute! Check out their Conferences this weekend. You cannot believe the mainstream media as they are too far left. Well done Nigel, standing for free speech, democracy and the British people and our values. He doesn't care what your skin colour is, or what orientation you are. Only Reform can bring back common sense and decency to our declining country. Reform all the way!
