I’ve started this thread because for some unfathomable reason the one discussing the latest agreement has disappeared.
An important subject for all concerned, and too important to ignore.
So as you were folks.
When will Jews have a home country , not be persecuted

Palestinians have been attacking Israel for 50yrs, plus this current war was started when Palestinians killed 1200 and took hostages.
There will be no peace unless Gaza accept defeatwhy should so many completely innocent Palestinians suffer and also accept defeat.. They've had their lands and property taken away and destroyed, thousands of them killed, and I would warrant that many of them didn't want to live under Hamas rule.. they've been unable to fish their seas (beyond a few miles) unable to easily travel abroad.. had to live off foreign subsidies, they haven't been free for over 70 years.. These ordinary Palestinians people did not capture hostages..
When is the world going to help enable these poor people to live in their own country in peace and freedom...
The world hasnt helped Gaza so far, all it’s done is give false hope, sympathy does not win wars, Iran armed them and they lost, all Hamas achieved was 70,000 deaths and destruction of the region.
Israel has got to change as well, treat Palestinians fairly, when a peace minded leader in Gaza emerges, that will be the signal for hope. Without that there is no hope, extremists will continue to attack Israel, they will respond.
How can a peace loving leader emerge when Hamas is still there? These people don't seem to have any chance.. And I don't see this latest agreement lasting beyond the first phase..

if we want this to happen, then we will have to give ours, or part of- not steal it from another people. Wales perhaps?
When will Palestinians have such a home country (ah, they did have one).

Me neither pascal.
I don’t normally dip into these threads, but my view is it won’t last because the hate is too deeply entrenched on both sides. There will be a lull, some hostages may be released, they will all then regroup and it will start again.
To get down to practicalities, here are the 3 stages of the deal: note, to get all the live hostages back, it has to move to stage 2
First stage
The first stage would last 42 days, or six weeks, and see "a full and complete ceasefire", US President Joe Biden said as he confirmed a deal had been reached on Wednesday.
Sheikh Mohammed said Hamas would release 33 Israeli hostages, including "civilian women, female soldiers, children, the elderly, and sick and wounded civilians".
In exchange, he added, "a number" of Palestinian prisoners held in Israeli jails would be released.
Israeli government spokesman David Mencer previously said most but not all of the 33 hostages - which include children - were thought to still be alive.
Three hostages would be released on the first day, a Palestinian official previously told the BBC, with the rest of the exchange taking place at regular intervals over the six weeks.
During this first stage, Israeli troops will pull out of "all" populated areas of Gaza, Biden said, while "the Palestinians [could] also return to their neighbourhoods in all the areas of Gaza".
Almost all of Gaza's 2.3 million people have had to leave their homes as Israel has carried out continuous strikes across the territory and issued mass evacuation orders for large residential areas.
There will also be a surge in humanitarian aid deliveries to Gaza, with hundreds of lorries allowed in each day, as well as the rehabilitation of hospitals, clinics and bakeries, Sheikh Mohammed said.
The Palestinian official previously said detailed negotiations for the second and third stages would begin on the 16th day of the ceasefire.
Biden said the ceasefire would persist "as long as the negotiations continue".
Second stage
Stage two would be "a permanent end to the war", according to Biden.
The remaining living hostages, including men, would be released in return for more Palestinian prisoners.
Of the 1,000 Palestinian prisoners Israel is thought to have agreed to release overall, about 190 are serving sentences of 15 years or more.
An Israeli official previously told the BBC that those convicted of murder would not be released into the occupied West Bank.
There would also be a full withdrawal of Israeli troops from Gaza.
Third stage
The third and final stage involves the reconstruction of Gaza - something which could take years - and the return of any remaining hostages' bodies.
I’m hoping that the children will be given care - food, medical and importantly psychological. What they have witnessed must be beyond imagining. My psychologist soon to be DIL works with traumatised children, and says that any child traumatised will never make balanced adults without help.
the rehabilitation of hospitals and clinics seems rather optimistic as most are in ruins..
Children held as hostage ,
I cannot imagine what any child hostage has gone through, given what previously released hostages have said.
The two little red haired boys taken with their parents, I wonder if they’re still alive.

Children held as hostage ,
Yes if they are still alive, I’m sure they will be given every help necessary. They are lucky enough to be returning to a country with all the necessary resources.
what about all the thousands of Palestinian children traumatised and homeless, who have lost their families? do you think they will be given psychological support.. this agreement has to work for ALL the children
Yes I don’t distinguish between any of the innocents.

Dear God, lucky enough
Well here’s hoping things do improve, if only for a short time .

Its going to take so much international laid to even begin to reconstruct.
aid
Hamas have said they will be releasing children in the first group of hostages, so we have to assume there are still child hostages.

Yes, 'lucky enough' in the context that Israel holds many children hostages, and have done for so long. If and when they will released, they will be released to what, to whom?
No mention of child hostages in Israel in the ceasefire, prisoners in jail yes child hostages no.
