Eazybee it was Badenoch who attacked Johnson et al in her speech today. This thread is merely discussing what she said.

I thought Labour were telling people what they didn’t want to hear though Allira!

I think Labour have announced measures but not thought through the consequences!

^She attacked Labour for announcing policies without a plan to back them up^

Pot and kettle come to mind!

Yes, she said that as well, did you miss that?

she says that Labour are doing what the Tories did with many policies:
"These mistakes were made because we told people what they wanted to hear first and then tried to work it out later."

People still talk about Churchill eazybee. I think we can safely say that Boris Johnson’s tenure and misdemeanours will go down in history, never mind still be talked about a couple of years after he left office, much like Tony Blair. It’s not diversion, it’s context.

Still attacking Boris Johnson in an attempt to divert attention from the economic disaster unfolding now as a result of the incompetents that Labour supporters inflicted on the country.

It 's not quite what Badenoch said and she says that Labour are doing what the Tories did with many policies:
First announce what woul happen, then try to work out how to achieve that.

"These mistakes were made because we told people what they wanted to hear first and then tried to work it out later."

She attacked Labour for announcing policies without a plan to back them up.

I did mention on another thread thst we seem to have a lot of incompetents in local and central government.

The plan for Johnson was to win a bet with his old mate Cameron. Was just the winning that mattered after that there was no plan and that went for his whole time as PM.
He flew by the seat of his pants whilst delegating for others like Cummings to do the actual hard work.

Yes, how refreshing for a Tory to admit to a mistake!

Cameron only called the referendum to appease UKIP (remember them) because they were leaking Tory MPs.

It was a very short term and seriously misjudged measure that the people of the UK will have to bear the consequences of for a very long time.

I think this is a shrewd move by Badenoch, as she seems to be walking a line between admitting Brexit was a mistake, whilst also lifting the responsibility from the shoulders of the electorate. I think this will also signal she is not frightened of taking on Reform, and good for her!

Not sure her move will pay off though...

Johnson, Farage, Gove, Cummings to name just 4, led this country blindfolded into the greatest economic disaster of the 21st (and 20th) Century.

I will NEVER forget the looks on the faces of Johnson and Gove the morning after the referendum result. As they got into a car they were surrounded by reporters asking “so, now you’ve won the referendum, what’s the plan”? I have never seen two more frightened individuals - rabbits in headlights doesn’t even come close.

Shame on them!

At least Badenoch has owned up to what many of us already knew - there was no plan! … although she was part of the government that kept dragging it through.

I will NEVER forgive the Tories and Farage for taking MY country out of the EU.

Whitewavemark2 Thu 16-Jan-25 16:20:08

We always knew that to be the case.

What is different is that the Tories are finally admitting the truth.

GrannyGravy13 Thu 16-Jan-25 16:17:10

Old news Whitewavemark2 it is well known that David Cameron assumed that the remain side would win, and therefore had no contingency plans for a leave result.

Why do you think he resigned the next morning.

Whitewavemark2 Thu 16-Jan-25 16:15:08

The Tories owe every Brexit voter an apology for admitting that they voted for a pig in a poke - there was never and never has been any pan.

What a shower her government is.
