Wow!
All eyes will be on America.

I hope he lives up to his speech. I can see why he won.

Whitewavemark2 Mon 20-Jan-25 23:08:43

History is being re-written I see.

Apparently Nancy Pelosi was responsible for Jan 6 th.

Who knew😄

merlotgran Mon 20-Jan-25 23:04:24

And who here is a staunch Brexiter still, and not a full enthusiastic supporter of Trump

Take out the words staunch, full and enthusiastic and I’ll happily hold my hand up.

You really do have a skewed opinion of how and why people vote.

Not that it’s really any of your business.

Mt61 Mon 20-Jan-25 23:00:51

I agree with a lot of what he says- wokeness has gone mental

NanKate Mon 20-Jan-25 22:46:49

Don’t like the man but I do agree with ‘No men in women’s sport’. However taking away women’s rights regarding abortion I don’t agree with.

I found his speech uplifting and inspiring.

The part of the speech where he is going to rename the Gulf of Mexico and Denali ? Are you looking forward to the invasion of Panama Canal ?

To be fair the world laughed when POTUS Kennedy wanted to put the American Flag on the moon.

🎶🎶“They all laughed at Christopher Columbus, when he said the world was round”:…🎶🎶

It is all deeply depressing... poor America, they are going to be sucked dry by the new oligarchy and then they'll be free to suck us dry too.

I hope I am completely wrong about Trump and that he really does care about the ordinary folk of the US who voted for him.But there is zero evidence for it- I have never seen so many criminals standing in one place pretending.

Let's test it here. Who here voted for remain who is an enthusiastic, positive and optimistic supporter of Trump?

We’re not playing your game.

I have answered you up thread, am sorry if it didnt fit your ideas of what boxes people should be in.

Louella12 Mon 20-Jan-25 20:47:25

Oh for heavens sake . Your children and grandchildren will be fine. So long as you're not inflicting your thoughts on them.

Do we think there's a US Gransnet where everyone is wailing about Starmer? Or Farage? I very much doubt it.

It's bordering on hysteria and paranoia.

You seem a bit hyper tonight if you don’t mind me saying.

Oh my. I am not the one who is hyper enthusiastic and excited.

But yes, hands up, I am very upset, very scared and very worried. Not about me, mid 70s, had a great life- but for my grandchildren, their generation and the ones to come. VERY upset, yes.

But let's test my 'theory' - why not. Who here is a remainer AND a full and enthusiastic supporter of Trump?

And who here is a staunch Brexiter still, and not a full enthusiastic supporter of Trump?

No harm in testing this, even if a bit anecdotical.

Galaxy Mon 20-Jan-25 20:31:23

Yes because it is all as simplistic as that.
I voted remain, and probably would not do that again, I wouldnt vote Trump but under no circumstances would I have voted for the Democrats who I consider deeply regressive in some areas.

Skydancer Mon 20-Jan-25 20:28:27

GrannyGravy13 Melania carefully angled her head so that he couldn't actually make contact at all.

That’s a silly sweeping statement, saying that British people who voted for Brexit are all Trump supporters! In fact it beats any comments about Melania Trumps hat.

Looking at all the people I know- this assumption seems pretta accurate.

Claremont Mon 20-Jan-25 20:12:43

Wait and see what he will unleash on the UK economy- and then rejoice.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Mon 20-Jan-25 20:07:59

Trump's ego was certainly riding high tonight.

Calendargirl Mon 20-Jan-25 19:22:13

Think he took a leaf out of Meghan’s book, the one about ‘going to hit the ground running’.

Hope it turns out better for him than her.

Casdon Mon 20-Jan-25 18:53:44

A Hard Rain’s a-Gonna Fall was never more apt.
