I know why you posted it, but the words were emphasised. Which immediately makes one wonder what Must was regretting about Germany’s failure.

I apologise if my response was not in the best of taste, but what else could he possibly be regretting? After all, Germany has been a vert successful country post WW2, but Musk is close to the AfD.

While I do believe he has stated that he is on the spectrum. I find the discourse of using that as an excuse exceptionally problematic. Using Austism as an excuse is disgusting and puts a lot of wonderful humans who happen to be on the spectrum in danger.

If he really does have autism it does explain the childish overreaction and excitement he exhibits.I don’t think anyone on here can say he doesn’t have it definitively.
I would say those of us who don’t see it as a N salute are not excusing him but just don’t see it that way.

Having watched the video clip I don’t think it was a Nazi salute. I think it was yet another media beat up. They love to attack right wing types, quite boring really.

They love to attack right wing types, are you aware that here in the UK, The Mail, Express, Sun and Telegraph - all Right-wing leaning media - have a combined circulation of roughly 1.8 million copies; and that only the Daily Mirror and The Guardian are broadly Left-wing, with a combined circulation of roughly 300,000?

The Times, Sunday Times and Evening Standard are more middle of the road in their political coverage - though they all endorsed the Conservative party during the previous general election.

That means our press is more Right-wing than Left.

Musk's gesture is clearly open to interpretation, but it is definitely reminiscent of the Nazi salute, so I don't think there's any reason why the media, Right or Left, shouldn't question it.

Another aspect of this is that controversial headlines sell newspapers, hard copies and online subscriptions. The bigger the readership, the bigger the advertising revenue.

So it's not really a question of the media 'attacking right wing types' at all, since the media is predominantly right-wing - but even they are questioning the salute, as they know their readers will, so are capitalising on the matter.

I have just watched the full clip, he was touching his heart then extending his arm saying my heart goes out to you.
Always look at the full context the media are so good at sending the wrong message to further their biased views.

Really people need to not be led by the nose by the media. Look at the whole speech. He clearly was holding his heart then stretched out his arm to share his heart with the crowd.
One photograph taken totally out of context and people (some people!) are up in arms.
This just proves how easily people (some people!) are manipulated by the media

Please think about it- we are talking here about the start of a new era of Trump and Vance, supported by Musk.

I just wonder how much longer Musk will be Trumps favourite toy when the man seems to be in the limelight so much, more than Trump in fact, and whether is negative or positive publicity Trump wants all possible attention on him.
I imagine this will all end in tears before bedtime.

Oh well that clinches it then.
I am hoping all this is just a reaction to the Trump victory and that after a suitable period of processing people get round to examining why they lost. If they continue behaving like this I can see the Republicans being in power for a long time.

I saw it live and I didn’t think that it was a Nazi salute. He does have bizarre behaviour, I wonder if he has adhd perhaps.
Don’t know if he has a partner but he does have a little boy who was on stage with him at the inauguration and has an adult daughter.
