I found this very disturbing, especially the look on his face with the first one.

rafichagran Mon 20-Jan-25 22:33:36

Yes, I found it disturbing, it was manic and also very strange.

Sago Mon 20-Jan-25 22:34:11

Very odd.

Syracute Mon 20-Jan-25 22:38:24

Three times no less ! This man deserves no place in this government ! That was no accident .

keepingquiet Mon 20-Jan-25 22:39:06

Very disturbing indeed. Maybe he didn't realise what he was doing which makes him an idiot or he knew exactly what he was doing which makes him an evil megalomanic who knows no one can reign him in. Shocking behaviour so early on.

nanna8 Mon 20-Jan-25 22:42:17

It is illegal to do that here and they have actually prosecuted people for doing it. Musk is a seriously weird man.

Bea65 Mon 20-Jan-25 22:43:03

I think he’s more dangerous than DT

Allira Mon 20-Jan-25 22:57:18

He must know what he's doing, keepingquiet, he can be stupid, can he? Arrogant yes.

I didn't see it but have just seen pictures which are all over the media. Yes, some have termed it a fascist salute. It was certainly a very strange gesture.

Allira Mon 20-Jan-25 22:58:01

can can't be stupid, can he?

SueDonim Mon 20-Jan-25 22:59:04

It was chilling and frightening.

HousePlantQueen Mon 20-Jan-25 23:15:53

Israel have already commented I believe.

Dickens Mon 20-Jan-25 23:17:55

My gut reaction is that he did it instinctively and does not / did not make the same connection we are. I think he got a bit carried away with it all.

I detest him (yes, I know he's very clever), but I think he's an oddball, and unpredictable.

But I'm not convinced it was a deliberate Nazi salute.

nanna8 Mon 20-Jan-25 23:25:04

I think you are right, Dickens Perhaps it isn’t considered such a threatening insult in the USA?

"But I'm not convinced it was a deliberate Nazi salute."

I mean he retweets and shares Nazi rhetoric and fully supports the modern-day Nazi Party (in Germany).

So I'm sure his salute that looked like the Nazi salute was just a mere unfortunate coincidence 🙄

Galaxy Mon 20-Jan-25 23:34:11

I sort of agree Dickens, but it was bizarre.
I think he is not neurotypical, but obviously am diagnosing a stranger on the internet which is not acceptable!

Whitewavemark2 Mon 20-Jan-25 23:43:10

He supports the AfD a Nazi political party.

So the salute is neither surprising nor innocent.

Musk could be very dangerous if he isn’t reigned in.

imaround Mon 20-Jan-25 23:49:05

I want to clear up the thought that he Nazi salute is somehow acceptable in the US.

It is not.

Unless you are a member of a neo-nazi group and march the streets with Swastikas. They absolutely believe that this sort of thing is acceptable.

imaround Mon 20-Jan-25 23:54:13

His statement just before he did this questionable gesture was "the future of civilization is assured"

A very dangerous man. Of his trolley.

The salute

From the article Wyllow3 posted:

"On top of that, Musk also recently signaled further support for the far-right when he changed his X username to “Kekius Maximus” and updated his profile to an edited picture of “Pepe the Frog,” a meme that had been co-opted by the alt-right and white supremacists in online spaces such as 4chan. And just a week ago, Musk — who has relentlessly promoted imprisoned far-right extremist Tommy Robinson while injecting himself into British politics — criticized the prison sentencing of a neo-Nazi who helped incited riots in the UK."

When someone tells you who they are, believe them.

maddyone Tue 21-Jan-25 00:37:12

I wasn’t sure what I’d missed when I started reading the thread, but then I saw the picture.
It definitely looks like a Nazi salute to me.

imaround Tue 21-Jan-25 03:13:55

The neo-nazi groups in the US are celebrating the nazi salute.

mae13 Tue 21-Jan-25 05:21:53

And Musk needs to brush up on world history: America planted the flag on the moon in 1969, and is that not a planet?
Tough Musky, Neil Armstrong beat you to it.

escaped Tue 21-Jan-25 05:30:47

I'm not at all comfortable with this.

Allsorts Tue 21-Jan-25 05:34:25

If you look at his eyes he is manic, he literally thrives on conflict. It would be interesting to know if he has
had any long term relationships. He will have a book in him when it goes pear shaped with Trump, two big ego’s.
