My goodness the statement from the Murdoch is extraordinarily damning.

I wonder what it is that they are keen that we don’t hear at a trial.

woodenspoon Thu 23-Jan-25 18:28:51

I don’t think it’s the Murdoch lot that done want us to know, as you phrase it.
If the trial had commenced and Harry lost which apparently was quite likely according to what I have read, he would have been liable for his costs and NGNs totalling around 30 million pounds. Harry pushed to settle on the last day. Three times the trial was delayed at Harry’s solicitors request. NGN were fully prepared to go. It’s been written on all media, newspapers and BBC correspondents. They all stated it was last minute and highly irregular.
Not being a lawyer, I can’t comment either way but one would assume he’d sue again if they were incorrect?

Sleepygran Thu 23-Jan-25 18:23:59

Ordinary folk couldn’t have afforded to take this court action as far as it has gone.Well done on him for continuing with it. What do the Murdoch lot not want us to know?

Anniebach Thu 23-Jan-25 18:23:27

What was said about Diana that affected Harry before he was
12 years old, is it possible to sue a newspaper because of something they said of a deceased person ?

Maremia Thu 23-Jan-25 18:22:47

Not many people wanting to criticise Murdoch, and his vile methods. Just want to Harry bash instead? Each to their own.

ViceVersa Thu 23-Jan-25 18:11:58

Harry wasn't the one who talked about his mother's 'paranoia'...

Granniesunite Thu 23-Jan-25 17:59:09

My mother I mean… so upsetting

Granniesunite Thu 23-Jan-25 17:58:35

The sticking up for his mother is puzzling, he was 12 years old
when his mother died, what was his knowledge of the press and his mother , why was an apology given ?

Most strange,

I was seven and I stick up for her all the time

That comment really is awful……I’m so sad to read that.

I do wonder what the media has discovered about Harry and his mother that he is so desperate doesn’t come out. Maybe it will in due course. It’s certainly discussed widely on internet forums.

SparklyGrandma Thu 23-Jan-25 17:47:24

Well done Prince Harry. And what more could you want from a son? He has stood up for his mother. And for the rest of us in challenging news gathering techniques.

Everyone has the right to tell their own story. Is circumcision frowned upon? I would likely find much hilarity in anyone telling me they hadn't whispered a fact about a family member. Rather simply, your book wouldn't sell.

It wasn’t his story to tell, but as you say it was to sell , he sunk so low but he could probably sink lower

Of course curcumcision isn’t frowned upon. You’re being disingenuous as you know. How would you react if the Sun had written that Harry was circumcised or, how would he? Another court case perhaps.

Jaberwok Thu 23-Jan-25 17:44:01

That actually sums it up Alllira, ironic indeed. I don't think information about your brothers circumcision is 'dirty linen' or the totally irrelevant information about the School matron, nor yet the loss of his virginity to somebody very easily identifiable. Tacky comes to mind.

Anniebach Thu 23-Jan-25 17:42:25

He betrayed his brother, he fed so much to the press with his book, poor William had the press writing about him being
circumcised, that was acceptable because Harry knew grief as a
child ?

Everyone has the right to tell their own story

But not someone else's.
Especially your siblings.

No this isn't dislike, it is stark hatred. How does it benefit? Dirty laundry of the entire Royal family was shared by the press using the very means Harry has put a stop too. Entirely shortsighted to not celebrate such a win. So where is the benefit I ask?

I don’t think that’s quite true. In his book we all learned his brother was circumcised, now I don’t recall the media telling us that little piece of info, or many other things he wrote in his book. Invading privacy? Dirty laundry?

Love him or dislike him (or feel completely indifferent about him) it's quite ironic, isn't it, that Harry sues the media for intruding his privacy and publishing stories about his private life yet does exactly the same thing himself by publishing stories about his family, including his once beloved brother.

Any thread on the royal family brings criticism, who can
forget the criticism of the King and Catherine when they went
public with the fact they both had cancer. There was criticism
when Catherine released the video on her time through healing .

Granniesunite Thu 23-Jan-25 17:22:35

I’m told “this is what happens on social media granny!

Yes it is hatred of a stranger towards another stranger .

I think it's mainly Harry's hypocrisy that makes people dislike him, among other things.

Jaberwok Thu 23-Jan-25 17:11:19

Perhaps Harry could learn by this example, perhaps he could offer apologies to people whose privacy he's violated?!

ViceVersa Thu 23-Jan-25 17:10:40

I thought this thread was about the apology that Harry and Tom received from the powerful news group?

Not a bash harry thread surely that’s been done to the death!

Because the minute either Harry or Meghan are mentioned on here, you can bet someone will be along to start the bashing! In fact, they don't even have to be mentioned in a thread - any hint of the Royal Family brings the H&M bashing brigade out with their torches and pitchforks!
