My goodness the statement from the Murdoch is extraordinarily damning.

I wonder what it is that they are keen that we don’t hear at a trial.

True, lies are damaging

Iam64 Wed 22-Jan-25 17:27:50

He was 12 when the newspapers acted illegally towards him and others. Indefensible and inevitably psychologically damaging to him, his family and friends

Anniebach Wed 22-Jan-25 16:50:34

He has the money, how many who settled out of court has millions ? I am glad the truth won

Jaxjacky Wed 22-Jan-25 16:41:33

Fair play to Harry, but as has been said he has the clout
I hope others who have been subject to this diabolical behaviour benefit too.

Luckygirl3 Wed 22-Jan-25 16:41:00

It would be good if the criminal justice system took up the admissions of illegality.
This result will hopefully go some way to curbing further illegal activity on the part of the tabloids.
Well done Harry for his perseverance.

I criticise them for their lies, i dislike lies and the harm they can do, i do nor quote newspapers, why would i feel spiteful
If criticism is from spite they is much spite in this thread

I ve always thought Harry was ok and hate all the nastiness around him
Murdoch and his media is the spawn of the devil so good on Harry for sticking with it

Hear, hear BlueBelle, the animosity directed at Harry & Megan by certain newspapers & Gransnetters is just plain spite, pure & simple!
I'm not a Royalist but his poor naive mother is probably turning
in her grave! It's so sad really 😞

They sent him to Afghanistan and he was on the front line.

And had security. Fine for a very few years but not for an entire army career, where he would have assumed an increasingly higher profile. Not bright enough for much of a desk job I fear.

Maremia Wed 22-Jan-25 15:37:54

Not usually 'wild about Harry' but today, BRAVO to him and his comrades in arms, for staying the course and getting that result against one of the most powerful media moguls in the world.

I don't think Murdoch really gives a F_CK about what he's done. Just that he got caught. At the end of the day him and his company are crooks. If any ordinary person in the street phone bugged etc, we'd be locked up.

100%

well I am delighted to see that dreadful Murdoch and his empire being humbled for once. I know that it will not last long, and already we have seen the H&M bashing, but, as others have said, this is not about H&M, it is about Murdoch. Hugh Grant was unable to take his case to this stage due to fears of bankruptcy if he lost against the eye wateringly expensive legal team employed by Murdoch.

BlessedArt Wed 22-Jan-25 15:21:09

Hardly a surprise. Murdoch media is internationally low-ethics and low-quality. I wouldn’t be shocked if they budget for these lawsuit losses annually considering how slimy their “publications” and media channels conduct themselves across the globe as a habit. It’s their M.O

The reason Harry was able to take the stance was he has deep pockets unlike the many others who had to settle in the past. By threatening to go through with the case the Sun had to own up to years of wrongdoing. Well done Harry for standing your ground.

This vicotry shows what a mistake it was for Prince Harry to have had to give up his army career. It was clear at the time he was in the army that he was a good and brave officer and commanded liking and respect from those who served with him and under him. Unlike his unce Andrew in the navy, who was cordially disliked.

He should have stayed in the army and had a decent and respected career. No high flyer but a good officer none the less.

I imagine that would have been too much of a security risk.

Anniebach Wed 22-Jan-25 15:01:55

Is there a lot of guilt , a small amount of guilt, a medium amount of guilt

I’m always a bit put off by phrases like ‘a source said” ‘being talked about” “ bandied about” etc

Daily Mail stuff really.

A figure of $787million is being talked about.

That is quite a lot of guilt.

Where did you get that figure from? The reports I’ve seen say between 10 and 20million.

Google. Of course I realise it might not be accurate, I said that it was a figure being bandied about

The money I think is the least of it for me. The admission of guilt is the victory.

Well indeed.

You did seem to imply that the large figure you quoted was significant in “quite a lot of guilt”. And conversely that a very much smaller figure would be very much less guilt.

I dont think there is anything Poor about Harry and Megan. I wish had their money. What about normal Jo Soap , what would get?

Surely we should be concerned about everyone who was affected by this, whether they were celebrities, royals or just ordinary members of the public? As Whitewavemark2 says, the admission of guilt is the real victory here.
