What a wonderful start to his Presidency. Today he visited North Carolina and California. His meeting with the local people must have been so uplifting for them, having been let down by the previous government.
He speaks so much sense. Please take time to really listen to what he is saying before slamming him to the wall.
Thank you.

I have nothing against people singing Trumps praises, but would like it to be based on all his policies and how feasible or realistic they are, not just because he is cracking down hard on illegal migrants. The US has huge problems relating to gun crimes, poverty, a lack of health care, mass unemployment in the rust belt etc., etc., so how is he tackling all of this.
All I have heard so far is that he letting crypto currency gangsters out of jail, giving a rallying call to the ICE and KKK to go on a witch hunt, and is curtailing women's rights as per.
What about the rest, as in actually doing something about the many other - and some would say more imperative - issues facing people in the US?

Correction - illegal immigration

They call them illegal migrants here but you are not allowed to say that in the uk because they don’t have freedom of speech. .

When has anyone stopped people taking about illegals immigration in the UK. Is all that anyone bangs on about, in the tabloids, in government, the opposition, and regularly on threads on GN.
This is a spurious accusation.

Arto1s Sat 25-Jan-25 16:14:16

cossy Yes, I live in California, been here 35 years.
As to the abortion question, I am totally for freedom of choice. It would be impossible to agree with all of Trump’s policies.
However, most states will do what they want thank goodness. We don’t actually live under a dictatorship as many on here seem to think. I have lived in the UK and now here. I know which I prefer, which is no criticism towards the UK by the way. Life is full of choices and I made mine many years ago.

Chocolatelovinggran Sat 25-Jan-25 12:05:17

I do find it unpleasant when some Trump supporters then find that their admiration for him means that they must make them voice dislike of the British government.
The British cabinet is " getting things done", also, as in Cossy's post.
And nanna8, we do have freedom of speech in the UK ( unless it is inciting hate) but most of us prefer to speak respectfully of our fellow human beings-we're funny that way.

Oh the irony. Same posters who only yesterday accused some of starting goady threads. Same unpleasant language too "illegals" and that old Brexit favourite aimed at Remainers "suck it up". I suggest we leave the deluded Trump fan club to their echo chamber, I like a good robust political discussion, but I suspect this thread isn't it

You may not like it, but the title of this thread is nothing like the goady tone of the other which asked posters to justify themselves.
Illegals is just shorthand for illegal immigrants and is used widely.
You may leave if you like, it’s your choice.
I’m interested in all kinds of views.

Actually HPQ, on reflection you’re so right.

We will leave them to worship their Gods and watch with interest! thanks

This isn’t a goady thread.
It’s not demanding people explain themselves as to why they voted brexit or like Donald Trump.

Anyway, what are Trump haters doing on this thread? Haven’t you got enough of your own Trump bashing threads? One even has a post wishing the bullet had killed him!
And I get pulled up for calling people illegals.

I beg to differ, of course it’s goads and toady!

We are not Trump (or Vance or Musk or Farage) haters, we are compassionate people, some who have strong links to the USA, who are rightly voicing their concerns, just like some on here have continually voiced their concerns and Labour/Starmer bashed. It’s no different.

But he was going to stop the war in Ukraine on day one, what happened to that?

I meant to say that you are aware over 16,000 migrants have been deported by the LP in 6 months, 50 of these in the first 3 weeks of them being elected?

Cossy Sat 25-Jan-25 09:38:54

Soz posted too soon!

He doesn’t mess about does he? Our Government could learn a lot from him. Good to see all those illegal immigrants being led onto the plane yesterday.

He gives what his country asks for!

In chains and shackles?

You do know

They themselves are not “illegal”, the means by which they enter is illegal and if you’re in Oz I’m guessing lots of those there are visa overstayers or working on visitors visas and therefore are committing a crime.

Kandinsky Perhaps you would like to "give it a rest" too. Or does everyone have to agree with you?

How about migrants ? Or Refugees or Asylum Seekers?

Do you live in America?
Why are you so obsessed with Donald Trump?
Is it because the Tories are no longer in power so you have to have someone to vent your frustration / anger?

Americans voted for him twice
Get over it.

I have close family and friends in the USA, I’ve also visited several times and lived there for a year.

I’m a woman, so it concerns me that women’s rights are being eradicated, I have gay children so their rights concern me also.

America is one of the biggest and most powerful nations in the world, what they do affects many other countries.

I could ask why you’re so obsessed with migrants??

karmalady Sat 25-Jan-25 09:26:25

I agree Arto1s, what a wonderful positive start and what a contrast with the dismal leaders of uk

America will be great again, meanwhile the uk wreckers are in charge here, for a while
