as he agrees to deliver a massive number of bombs for the IDF- so they can clear the country.

Are they planning the Ben Gurrion Canal yet- was it was this is all about, as some suspected a long time ago.

Call me cynical andpessimistic. Where on earth are they supposed to go?

I’ve just seen that report by the BBC Annie.
I’m afraid it does suggest that UN employees were also working for Hamas.

The UN and UNRWA are not the same. UNRWA is an agency of the UN and works autonomously.

Anniebach Sun 02-Feb-25 07:38:02

An agency of UN doesn’t work for the UN , really!

The UN ( UNWRA) must have overseen the arming and tunnel building by Hamas before the war so is actually complicit.

Anniebach Sun 02-Feb-25 10:12:41

Must have David 2024 Israeli government designated UNDWA as a terrorist group,

When a GN member posted that the UN along with UNWRA were complicit in assisting Hamas on here months ago they were derided.

Hamas are dangerous, they are cowards, their tentacles stretch far and wide.

And still it is denied.
But it is true.

In the news as discussed yesterday by Arab nations, official rejection of Trump's suggestions

"
A key group of Arab nations have said they “firmly” reject any efforts to resettle or evict Palestinians from Gaza, after US President Donald Trump said he wanted to “clean out” the enclave and move its population to neighboring countries.

The foreign ministers of Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Egypt issued a wide-ranging statement Saturday, saying they hoped to work with Trump on a two-state solution in the Middle East.

But they pushed back on Trump’s suggestion to relocate Palestinians from Gaza. Without specifically referencing the president’s proposal, the ministers reiterated a commitment to rebuilding the enclave while ensuring “the continued presence of Palestinians in their homeland.”

The nations “firmly rejected any actions that threaten these rights, including settlement expansion, forced evictions, home demolitions, land annexation, or the displacement of Palestinians through direct expulsion or coerced migration,” they wrote after a meeting of the foreign ministers in Cairo.

Why relocate from Gaza, the many videos covering release of
hostages show many, many well fed Palestinians ,

valdali Sun 02-Feb-25 11:03:58

Annie are you saying that there is no incentive for Palestinians to leave because the food shortages do not appear to have been as severe as feared? I hope you are pleased about that, not disappointed.

Children and the elderly are much more susceptible to starvation compared to adult males, the latter are the Palestinians who were on the hostage release videos that I saw.

Anniebach Sun 02-Feb-25 11:14:24

I don’t believe they want to leave

Wyllow3 Sun 02-Feb-25 11:42:40

We can't judge by the photos, it's a tiny sample.

I don't doubt the figures by the British Red Cross of the dangers of possible starvation. There are other key issues as well, which is the supply of clean water and consequences for disease.

Red Cross report updated 20th January.

Trump has said nothing on Gaza (or Ukraine, for that matter) very recently.

valdali Sun 02-Feb-25 11:51:15

Considering what he has said recently, nothing is probably good.

David49 Sun 02-Feb-25 11:58:21

I’m trying to think of a previous conflict where an aid organization has overseen an arms build up and supported terrorists like this.

Wyllow3 Sun 02-Feb-25 12:02:19

What, the Red Cross?

Anniebach Sun 02-Feb-25 12:03:51

Few photographs ? Many , many videos showing healthy male
Palestinians , massive crowds .

There's no point giving a reply to people who won't listen.

What, the Red Cross?

UNWRA is an aid organization isnt it

Anniebach Sun 02-Feb-25 12:18:06

Good grief, ‘people who WON’T LISTEN’ , shall I leave the thread ?

I saw many children, apparently boys, on the release videos.
And some, though few, women.

Do not leave the thread.
You do not need to pay any attention to anyone who wishes to either influence you or change your opinion.

I cannot imagine why anyone would want to return to Gaza with Hamas clearly in control.
Unless of course, they support them.

Casdon Sun 02-Feb-25 15:10:41

Surely it’s because it’s their home and the home of generations before them eazybee. If our homes in the UK were bombed but we could return we would, rather than face an uncertain future in another country where we aren’t wanted.

It’s their home. It’s where they live. Where the hell are they supposed to go? Would you leave the UK because you didn’t support the current government? Or perhaps you think they should get on dinghies and try to come here ( methinks you wouldn’t be keen on that, would you..). Did everyone leave Ireland during the troubles because they didn’t support the IRA? Or are some races of people different in some way to others?sad

Good point.

I would have thought that a different part of Israel would be more suitable to be developed. And of course there is the West Bank, but I assume that would need to be enlarged.
Obviously the Palestinians have got to live somewhere, and Israel has to accept that, because no other country wants them. If they continue to live in Gaza, as I expect they will, they will be living in tents for years because from my observations on news programmes, there are very few buildings left that could be lived in. Everything will need to be cleared and then rebuilt. It will take years.
