as he agrees to deliver a massive number of bombs for the IDF- so they can clear the country.

Are they planning the Ben Gurrion Canal yet- was it was this is all about, as some suspected a long time ago.

Call me cynical andpessimistic. Where on earth are they supposed to go?

Wyllow3 Mon 10-Feb-25 12:32:55

(Sorry, thats half a sentence, should read
"Hamas leaders have been indicted by the ICC specifically for 7th October just as some Israel leaders have in relationship to events in Gaza")

maddyone Mon 10-Feb-25 12:37:33

No Maybee, of course it isn’t right for anyone to break international law.
However we were regularly told on Gransnet (I’m not saying it was you) that because Hamas hadn’t signed up to anything and aren’t a country, that they couldn’t be accused of war crimes! Obviously those saying this weren’t saying what Hamas did was acceptable, although there have been posts over the months that have appeared to attempt to justify the actions of Hamas, and interestingly, I think I’m right in saying that rather belatedly Hamas have been accused of war crimes by The Hague. I think.
Others may know better.

Anniebach Mon 10-Feb-25 12:38:44

Hamas are freedom fighters Raping , throwing babies from their cribs, setting fire to a room holding a woman and her daughters, making a hostage who was the husband and father
of that family stand on a stage and speak of them.

Hide in hospitals and schools , building underground tunnels to hide away in. Heroes? for some, not , never for me

maddyone Mon 10-Feb-25 12:38:45

Ahh, thank you Wyllow.
I knew someone would know better.
It’s all rather belated though, but better late than never.

maddyone Mon 10-Feb-25 12:42:07

Annie you are right. Hamas are vile and completely evil. The things they have done, and are doing is beyond the comprehension of any normal person.
And if that makes me biased, so be it.

You will find no pushback from me over Hamas, but I hope that I am open minded enough to recognise the atrocities that Israel has/are committing.

Anniebach Mon 10-Feb-25 13:13:17

Defending oneself against terrorists = atrocities ? no

MayBee70 Mon 10-Feb-25 13:35:03

The way forward is to look at countries like Ireland and see how they have moved on from the troubles. Terrorism doesn’t just happen. You have to go back to find what caused terrorism to be the end result, even if it goes back a long long time. There are no quick fixes.

I'm glad I am open minded enough to recognise the atrocities that Israel has/are committing Whitewavemark and that others are too.

Quite...

Anniebach Mon 10-Feb-25 14:00:20

What atrocities?

I have just followed that up by looking up when they were indicted by the ICC.

It was at the same time.

wiki

"The International Criminal Court confirmed that its mandate to investigate alleged war crimes committed since June 2014 in the State of Palestine extends to the current conflict.[7][1][8]

On 20 May 2024, the Chief Prosecutor Karim Ahmad Khan announced his intention to seek arrest warrants against leaders of both sides of the conflict, including Hamas leaders Yahya Sinwar, Mohammed Deif and Ismail Haniyeh, and Israeli leaders Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Minister of Defense Yoav Gallant

I think the ideas around "when" are becuase it started when
on 29 December, South Africa filed a case against Israel at the International Court of Justice, alleging that Israel's conduct amounted to genocide.

However the results of that case filing as in the first paragraph above were both sides were indicted at the same time.

Needless to say if the US enters Gaza to ethnically cleanse the area, they will be committing a war crime?

Wyllow3 Mon 10-Feb-25 14:11:27

If anyone wants to read the wiki article

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/War_crimes_in_the_Gaza_war

It doesn't evade anything.

Anniebach Mon 10-Feb-25 14:26:31

Any different to the bombing in WW2 ?

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Mon 10-Feb-25 14:43:05

It surely must be obvious that rebuilding Gaza as was would be the height of stupidity. The Palestinians deserve better.

A proper home/state free from Hamas scum to pursue their safety and security and a decent future. The countries of the region should pull together to bring this about. Bad actors like Iran should be excluded totally from this process.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Mon 10-Feb-25 14:46:30

The bottom line is no matter which way you rinse it, no one but no one wants the Palestinians. Simple as that.

Anniebach Mon 10-Feb-25 14:51:42

Do the Palestinians want to be free of Palestinian Hamas, judging by the crowds of Palestinians when the hostages were
released ? no

Wyllow3 Mon 10-Feb-25 15:03:24

Do we not have enough room in our hearts to hold the Gazan Palestinians who just do want peace, and don't want more war or tunnels or shootings or being used as a buffer - but do want to know their land is theirs. What of the ones who didn't join the crowds but are in Gaza trying to - somehow - start a life up?

"all Palestinians are Hamas" No, just as we know not all Jewish people or Israeli Citizens support the current Israeli regime.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Mon 10-Feb-25 15:11:44

I like living in Urmston but if it were bombed and Hamas were in charge with their mindset, I’d go and live anywhere safe for my family in a heartbeat.

MayBee70 Mon 10-Feb-25 15:17:10

Even though, if your house had been bombed and you had no job, no income, no insurance that you could claim on ( and nobody anywhere else wanted you) you would have nowhere to go?

maddyone Mon 10-Feb-25 15:22:31

In 2005 the Israelis left Gaza. It was occupied only by the Palestinian Gazans. They elected Hamas, and the rest is history.
If and when the Israelis leave Gaza, what will the Palestinians do then? Will Hamas rise up and repeat the last twenty years? Or are they going to put all their efforts into rebuilding Gaza?

Anniebach Mon 10-Feb-25 15:22:51

Why are Palestinians not wanted ? There was no problem with Arab countries attack Israel 1948

maddyone Mon 10-Feb-25 15:23:14

Why doesn’t anyone want the Palestinians?
There must be a reason.

Anniebach Mon 10-Feb-25 15:26:58

Must be a reason Maddy , perhaps there is a link which explains this , Wyllow ?

For someone who claims to know so much about the area, I am astounded at such a disingenuous question.
