I think everyone needs to be reminded that the land of Israel was not created in 1948. It has been the homeland of the Jewish people for thousands of years.
Does no-one read the Bible any more? Ever heard of a man called Abraham? He and his tribe were allowed to settle in that country and have been there ever since.
Abraham is supposed to be the ancestor of both Jews and Arabs, therefore the land belongs to both. They really need to sort out their differences and share the land.

If we're going to go back thousands of years, nearly everybody in the world would be displaced.

Yes, they do need to sort out differences - that's what conflict resolution is all about, but there's not much sign of that.

However, we do have to talk about displacement in the present in order to both understand the situation and find some hope of remedy that does to mean following Trump's suggestion of total displacement - cleansing Gaza of Palestininans.

But some Israelis have been slowly occupying more and more of the West Bank day by day, week by week, displacing Palestinians, as Gaza has occupied the news. and its backed up by the IDF.

It's not OK at all - and I agree with you.

Many Israelis are bothered by it too. Some of them think that Netanyahu thought people would be more worried about what was happening in the West Bank than in Gaza, which is why defences were more concentrated on the West Bank than Gaza, which is how mistakes were made.

Well, I wasn't born in 1948, so I couldn't have been distressed at the time. Nevertheless, I agree with you about the displacement after 1948. The state of Israel needed to be created to provide some kind of sanctuary. In a way, that's what puzzles me about the lack of empathy by people like Ben-Givr and Smotrich about the Palestinian need to have their own land.

Yes, of course, but are you aware that similar numbers of Palestinians, in what is now remembered as the Nabka, were forced to leave their homes when Israel was established? Neither is "OK" but part of the troubled history of the area.

Many read the Daily Mail

Israelis in or out of Israel, are as divided as can be. Many are very critical of Netanyahu's failure to protect Israelis on October 7th despite repeated warnings at the highest level of the military, and the reactions ever since. Many are shocked and disgusted, and ashamed even. Many have huge empathy with the Palestinians. I know you won't believe it Annie, but they do.

So worrying that they read the DM, the paper that supported Hitler and the Nazis. Unimaginable, truly.

I doubt the Daily Mail is read in Israel .

Comparing Haaretz to the Daily Mail is really nonsensical.

But if Israelis don't trust them to tell the truth, maybe they should allow worlwide journalists to report from Gaza, perhaps.
