Yet another hideous grooming/rape conviction

I've already pointed out that sentencing only took place today. No, it's not the same as the 'grooming gangs' cases, but equally horrific and just as worthy of discussion. These children mattered just as much and will have been utterly traumatised for life by what happened to them.

It was a sex ring involving children rather than a grooming gang and was reported at the time, and yes, sentencing today.
Discuss it of course, to anyone who wants to ( personally I can’t take more harrowing content today) but don’t use it to rubbish political figures.

The age of the children involved is probably the main difference. Children involved in this case were all under 13, so they had no choice at all.

What is upsetting is that others were there, must have known but were acquitted. They surely should be charged with being complicit, because they failed to prevent crimes from happening, at the very least.

There were two women involved from what I have seen reported, reading between the lines presumably they received money for procuring the children, because it says in the report that money changed hands.

It’s nothing to do with political point scoring and neither is it anything to do with thr name it was given grooming or abusing is all abuse It’s about harming our children Where were the stone throwing crowd where were they setting buildings on fire ? Where were the send them home comments I didn’t see any threads on here at the time maybe I missed them !

I think HPQ is making a perfectly valid point and is no more guilty of making a political point than others have done with regard to similar crimes. Anyone who reads or follows a variety of media will be aware of how the reporting of crimes can be used for political purposes.

I agree. All crime of this kind is horrific and this was ongoing and described as a CT paedophile ring, the children involved were younger and also abused in other ways

The case was well reported in November 2023 in all UK newspapers and TV. It has taken so long for sentencing to be given because the judge needed each guilty person to be risk assessed before he could issue the Life Restriction Order. There are very few risk assessors and that accounts for the delay.
To write it off as "old news" as some have is ignorant and insulting to the victims - are they simply "old news" too?
Here's the Judge's summation. There is a wonderful paragraph that gives some hope that the children are now well cared for, though goodness knows what scars they carry.
For all the bickering on here l don't think anyone bothered to wonder what had become of the victims.

For those who don't want to read the whole sentencing report here's a paragraph about the children.

The children were facilitated by the care and stability provided following their removal in June 2019. However difficult it must have been for all concerned, a married couple accepted the invitation of the social work department to offer respite for the four children who feature in this case. Care then continued. The new carers’ actions were as kind, caring, generous and selfless as it is possible to imagine that anyone’s could be. From the desperate darkness of their earlier life, their new carers brought sunlight into blighted young lives, offering hope, a home, structure and nurture over a period of years. They continue to care for some of the children.

This case is very different to the grooming cases.

From what I read, there was bo grooming, just three chikdren, one still in nappys(!!!!!!!!!!!!!) consistently raped and abused over a period of years. Nothing was said, obviously, but I wonder whether the children were related to one or more of the abusers, that it should go on so long and with at least one of the victims so very young.

As I also said earlier in the thread, there would be no mention of whether any of the children involved were related to any of the abusers, as that could lead to identification of the children. People may, of course, draw their own conclusions.
