Biden’s security clearance has been revoked.

Wwm2. It’s tit for tat time as Biden had revoked Trump’s security clearance 4 years ago.

True. But that followed the insurrection that Trump was responsible for and was unprecedented. And he then became a convicted felon who only got away with his various crimes by becoming the President again ( if someone wrote a book about all this I think people would think it totally implausible).

Maybee70 thank you. That was a chilling read. It seems that Trump is getting rid of all the good, honourable people by one means or another.

Thank you Maybee. He cannot be the only one in the military that thinks this way. What a moving speech.

David Congress can stop some actions but not all of them. Trump is acting like a dictator. I just hope he is really pi*** off Republicans in and out of congress enough so they act as a brake.

Congress and Trump as currently - I mean as of now - still at odds over Trumps budget bill, it should have been settled yesterday

Its at standoff. It's central because Trump wants to find the Wall and deportation programme, and it embodies and brings the tax cuts (ie mass sackings of federal employees) into Law. ^It also means cuts in food aid and medicare^

but "At the same time, congressional phone lines are being swamped with callers protesting cost-cutting efforts led by billionaire Elon Musk against federal programs, services and operations."

voting margins are close.
" In the Senate, Republicans have a 53-47 majority, with little room for dissent."

He it is certainly trying and after less than a month I don’t think an alternative would had changed more

Whitewavemark2 Sat 08-Feb-25 11:46:17

Ah, but he isn’t doing what he promised is he?

He has already admitted that Ukraine will take years.

His deportation of migrants is coming up against numerous buffers.

And Gaza is being resisted by almost the entire world.

I agree GG.

When these orders, many of which are unworkable, don’t happen, Trump can become ‘the victim’ - a mask he often displays when things don’t go his way.

He knows exactly what he’s doing - it’s just another episode in The Trump Show!

He’s doing it because he can and does not want to wait to get approval from congress.

It’s a bit of reverse democracy “this is what I am going to do,”try to stop me of you can.
Not a dictatorship because any action be reversed or stopped

There were 3 major actions he promised end Ukraine War, solve the Gaza problem, stop illegal migration, along with efficiency etc

He’s not wasting any time he’s doing what he promised, many of us disapprove with all or some, it’s certainly not an agenda that Harris likes.

Yes I do agree.

To be Frank I think it is a real weakness on his part, except his followers in the states will not recognise it as such, just blame everyone else.

He backed down pdq over tariffs when the markets resisted his intention.

I assume the same might happen if he attempts tariffs aimed at Europe.

What I am interested in is why is Trump using executive orders, which are open to being challenged by everyone including apparently Republican judges, rather than going through congress and making it law?

Could it be that congress may not support him?

I think it’s his get out clause

DT can sign executive orders on issues he promised during his election campaign, when they are kicked out by the judiciary or congress he will say

I tried, it’s not me that’s a against the voters, it’s them

Wwm2 who knows why? Should we even care? It’s beyond all understanding to me that America with its huge population ended up with Biden and Trump as presidents in the first place.

I think if it happened and I can find no evidence that it did, it was almost certainly to do with Trumps illegal retention of classified documents.

Chocolatelovinggran Sat 08-Feb-25 10:27:08

Mr Trump's followers might not enjoy a large intake of disgruntled white South Africans. I thought that he was not keen on unfettered immigration ?

Why?

Claremont Sat 08-Feb-25 09:46:59

The Judge said Trump wants to change the Law for Political and Personal gain, and that this cannot be allowed.

Judge Coughenour had eviscerated the executive order as “blatantly unconstitutional” during a hearing two weeks ago in the lawsuit brought by a coalition of four Democratic-led states. In Thursday’s court session, Coughenour, who was appointed by President Ronald Reagan, criticized Trump in direct and unsparing terms moments after Justice Department lawyers had finished arguing that the order was constitutional.

“It has become ever more apparent that, to our president, the rule of law is but an impediment to his policy goals. The rule of law is, according to him, something to navigate around or simply ignore, whether that be for political or personal gain,” Coughenour said. “Nevertheless, in this courtroom, and under my watch, the rule of law is a bright beacon which I intend to follow.”

Claremont Sat 08-Feb-25 09:38:16

Some Senior Judges, very much Republican appointees, are turning against Trump and saying loud and clear that the Law and Constitution of the United States cannot be tampered with to suit its current President- in this case, citizenship by birth or proper naturalisation. That is great news- and especially as they are not Democrats, who would be accused of bias.

What a heartfelt resignation letter - clearly an honourable man.

Thanks for the post MayBee.

General Milley is a brave man with a conscience, I hope there's more like him but he's put a target on his back. Trump is such a vile vengeful man.

loopyloo Sat 08-Feb-25 09:19:59

At what point will there be insurrection?
Surely the armed forces are quietly discussing this
Will the US divide?

Biden’s security clearance has been revoked.

Wwm2. It’s tit for tat time as Biden had revoked Trump’s security clearance 4 years ago.

MayBee70 Sat 08-Feb-25 09:03:25

United States Army General Mark A Milley resigned from service to our government. Milley was a highly decorated Commanding General in the Army, served in many operations, and was Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff from September 30, 2019 to September 30, 2023. He considered resignation several times, most notably when Trump had pulled Milley from an important meeting to use as an escort to get through the fog of tear gas at the capital during a protest so that Trump could get his picture taken holding a Bible in front of a church.
Please read and consider his resignation as follows :
"The events of the last couple weeks have caused me to do deep soul-searching, and I can no longer faithfully support and execute your orders as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. It is my belief that you were doing great and irreparable harm to my country. I believe that you have made a concerted effort over time to politicize the United States military. I thought that I could change that. I’ve come to the realization that I cannot, and I need to step aside and let someone else try to do that.
Second, you are using the military to create fear in the minds of the people—and we are trying to protect the American people. I cannot stand idly by and participate in that attack, verbally or otherwise, on the American people. The American people trust their military and they trust us to protect them against all enemies, foreign and domestic, and our military will do just that. We will not turn our back on the American people.
Third, I swore an oath to the Constitution of the United States and embodied within that Constitution is the idea that says that all men and women are created equal. All men and women are created equal, no matter who you are, whether you are white or Black, Asian, Indian, no matter the color of your skin, no matter if you’re gay, straight or something in between. It doesn’t matter if you’re Catholic, Protestant, Muslim, Jew, or choose not to believe. None of that matters. It doesn’t matter what country you came from, what your last name is—what matters is we’re Americans. We’re all Americans. That under these colors of red, white, and blue—the colors that my parents fought for in World War II—means something around the world. It’s obvious to me that you don’t think of those colors the same way I do. It’s obvious to me that you don’t hold those values dear and the cause that I serve.
And lastly it is my deeply held belief that you’re ruining the international order, and causing significant damage to our country overseas, that was fought for so hard by the Greatest Generation that they instituted in 1945. Between 1914 and 1945, 150 million people were slaughtered in the conduct of war. They were slaughtered because of tyrannies and dictatorships. That generation, like every generation, has fought against that, has fought against fascism, has fought against Nazism, has fought against extremism. It’s now obvious to me that you don’t understand that world order. You don’t understand what the war was all about. In fact, you subscribe to many of the principles that we fought against. And I cannot be a party to that. It is with deep regret that I hereby submit my letter of resignation."

I finally got a look at his South Africa order. He is wanting to bring white people from South Africa as refugees from black people, basically.

It is like being in the Twilight Zone.

imaround Sat 08-Feb-25 02:25:11

His Lunacy is communicating on social media again.

Next up: Tariffs on Japan specifically, then he mentioned tariffs on many countries. Auto tariffs are on the table. He is meeting with Xi and talking to Putin. He wants to talk to Zelinsky next week to discuss security of their assets.

There is something about Pam Bondi, Trumps attorney general, wanting to use the death penalty on illegals, though it could mean illegals charged with capital crime. She does want to push states to use the death penalty more, and she plans to hurry the process along. Which will ultimately end up with innocent people dead and civil rights violated.

Shipments of food and medicines are sitting on docks around the world, rotting and expiring, because of Trumps USAID freeze. People will starve and start to die soon in countries that rely on the assistance.

Trump and Musk have re-hired the Musk lackey who promoted supports Nazi's because it was "unfair" that he was targeted.

Trump has removed the board from the Kennedy Center and has named himself in charge over there. I cant even begin to explain this one yet.

Oh yea, and he saved us from a plastic straw ban.
