Still told to 'get over it, it's done.

And yet only 11 - yes, ELEVEN percent, believe it was a success. And only 24% of Reform. That is just staggering, but not surprising.

Why on earth should we 'get over it'?

Claremont has every right to express her views.

It doesn't mean we necessarily have to agree with one another.

No. Brexit has happened.
We can try to do something new, but you can’t change the past.
If we establish links with the EU in the future, that doesn’t change the past, so they will be on different terms.
Going on and on about what is in the past doesn't change anything.
We can’t change the fact that over 1,000,000 didn’t think it was worth voting for Remain and we can’t be certain that they would do so in the future.

Claremont referred to problems expats are having post-Brexit, hence my suggestion. I didn’t mean that she was an expat.

Totally, thanks.

As do we all.

We also have the right to express them again and again and again.

There might however be an optimum number of ways and indeed times of repeating these views before others switch off? grin

Nobody is being forced to read them.

I'm probably a cup half full person, RosieandherMaw 😀
The Pollyanna syndrome.

I do realise it can annoy some people whose cups are often half empty.

Well, do switch off. No worries and your prerogative. Scroll by, ignore.

The issues are real, and there is everything to fight for and improve.

I hate the word expat btw. I was an immigrant once, for 1 year, otherwise always been a cititzen.

I am and have always been very much a half full ++ typer of person.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Mon 24-Mar-25 16:25:26

Except when it comes to Brexit. 😂
I’m a glass half full about it.
I’d vote the same way again to be honest.

My glass is not concerned. Nothing I care about has changed much.

Wonderful you voted wisely and are content.

I guess that doesn’t apply when you talk about Brexit.

Why should it. I’m not aware of any benefits from it. And people seem quite gleeful that some people suffered quite badly financially because of it.

Did you say you were a glass half-full++ type of person?

Mollygo Tue 25-Mar-25 04:40:54

And who are the people who are gleeful that some people suffered quite badly financially because of it?
I must have missed their posts, or the news about that.

Barleyfields Tue 25-Mar-25 09:32:46

You are not alone in missing the gleeful posts Mollygo.

Who has suffered quite badly? Who is gleeful?

Markets always change over time.

Freudian slip?

Brevity doesn't come into it!

MayBee70 Wed 26-Mar-25 19:51:28

Auto correct. Which, of course, you know it is.

Only 11% in the UK now think brevity (Brexit) has been a success

A smaller % of people, if any, think importing slaves was a success.

A different % think that wiping down shopping with disinfectant during Covid was a success.

All three of those things have happened and can’t be undone.

What we can do in the future might make a difference, but it won’t undo Brexit, or slavery, or Covid.

Incidentally I’m currently in a country that was delighted to scrape into the EU.
I’ve had to listen to endless stories of all the money that they have received, especially in view of their financial issues. I debated asking what their contribution to EU coffers is, but decided against it.
