Kier Starmer & voice coach during tier 4 lockdown

How hypocritical of Kier Starmer to have had a voice coach over for lessons during
Tier 4 lockdowns on Christmas Eve!

I am absolutely raging mad that I stuck fast to these lockdown rules, that I hardly saw my parents during these lockdowns, didn’t notice my dad’s dementia because mum always came to the door, couldn’t attend my Aunts funeral, ended up with severe depression & he’s got the gall to put this woman down as a key worker, I thought that was for emergency services, care workers, & shop staff?
What was so urgent that he needed a voice coach on Christmas Eve, he wasn’t even PM?
To think that they gave BJ so much flack, it’s truly unbelievable đŸ˜©

They made so much of Borris meeting people he was working with anyway and the pictures of Starmer having a drink at an event so called brushed under the carpet What is the difference labour don't get investigated To be honest if people were working together can't see the problem with them having a drink together it was obviously ok for labour but it's one rule for them

I can find updates on this from October 2023. Why has it now been so blown out of proportion?

He was a key worker

Barleyfields Mon 03-Feb-25 20:34:53

An ‘actress and communication skills specialist’ isn’t within the definition of a key worker - unsurprisingly.

I wouldn’t call it ‘being blown out of proportion’, PoliticsNerd. I’d call it being brought to light at last.

Yes I was in those schools at the time. But for those who werent the damage (particularly in vulnerable children) has been considerable.

Smileless2012 Mon 03-Feb-25 20:05:55

He was leader of the opposition at the time and I don't see how having a session in person, with a voice coach can be regarded as work related Cossy?

Smileless2012 Mon 03-Feb-25 20:03:08

That's true Cossy but the number of those attending would have been drastically reduced.

Maybe he had to repeat Christmas Eve tongue twisters with her?
Santa's sleigh sliding swiftly through the slippery snow.

That is funny. It certainly hasn't help improve his wooden , no inflection , boring voice.

What?!? A professional voice coach actually got paid to teach Captain Flip-Flop how to speak as if he has a mouth full of Lego bricks?

BJ was having lots of parties with many people.

Maybe he was, Starmer managed to wriggle out of his "work party," prebooked with beer and sarnies.
The op is talking about Starmer, not BJ. Another deflection technique, quite popular amongst Labour supporters on here.

But if they caught Covid they could have passed it onto their parents and older vulnerable relatives who may have been living with them. Wasn't that one the reasons for closing schools?

But actually it’s a misnomer that schools were closed, many stayed open for vulnerable pupils and the children of “essential” workers, of which there were many.

We should be more focused on what happened during lockdown in terms of the authoritarian approach to the population. It was I think looking back a mistake but hindsight is an amazing thing, and I certainly supported lockdown at the time. It has damaged children, who were at very low risk from covid, considerably.

Absolutely took it seriously 100 %

PoliticNerd- I assume that only applies to anyone politically on the Left. Funny though it’s ok to take aim at anyone on the right. BTW I don’t need your Pity!

Oh right, yes Mt61
 the curry and beer ‘party’!

😂😂 or as we might call it, “working evening”

I think whoever has dragged this up is really scrapping the barrel frankly. I’m guessing it was work related.

Many of us worked during lockdown and came into contact with others.

Many of us didn’t hold party after party in our place of work, or travel to Barnard Castle to be rewarded with a press conference in the govt rose garden!

I've never really understood these parties that Boris was alleged to have.

Work is being used as an excuse for KS, but Boris' parties were in number 10. People who were all working together anyway.

I don't care about KS and his elocution lessons, apart from the fact they have done nothing to assist his horrendous speech delivery.

But I'm not overly convinced that the parties at Number 10 were that bad. It's not as if they were inviting all and sundry. It was just those who were working there.

Also, Dominic Cummings decided to tell this party business to the press. And he's hardly someone to be admired.

Oh Cummings-goings- yes he was another plonker, with eye problems as an excuse for a jaunt up to a castle wasn’t it?

The voice coach allegedly visited Labour HQ, not the Starmers home ( or one of Lord Ali’s apartments).

I don’t know which I find worse the fact that his voice is a result of coaching or that he criticised Boris and co for their breach of regulations.

I think his Father was a toolmaker.

Maybe speech therapy is a euphemism?

Well apparently rumours going around about KS, has a press injunction on it though.
Wonder what that can be?
