Kier Starmer & voice coach during tier 4 lockdown

How hypocritical of Kier Starmer to have had a voice coach over for lessons during
Tier 4 lockdowns on Christmas Eve!

I am absolutely raging mad that I stuck fast to these lockdown rules, that I hardly saw my parents during these lockdowns, didn’t notice my dad’s dementia because mum always came to the door, couldn’t attend my Aunts funeral, ended up with severe depression & he’s got the gall to put this woman down as a key worker, I thought that was for emergency services, care workers, & shop staff?
What was so urgent that he needed a voice coach on Christmas Eve, he wasn’t even PM?
To think that they gave BJ so much flack, it’s truly unbelievable 😩

BJ was having lots of parties with many people.

I heard about this at lunchtime and was shocked that Starmer flagrantly broke the rules. I bet he was dreading this coming out.

First I’ve heard about it. Bloody hypocrite (but then I knew he was when all the freebies came to light),

I got castigated on here once as it was pointed out to me that two wrongs don’t make a right.

Maybe more so in the case of Starmer, being a lawyer.

Oh dear, if true how's he going to get out of this one hmm.

True but KS was working.

Smileless2012 Mon 03-Feb-25 17:36:24

confused did KS need a voice coach because of his work?

Not much of a barrister if incapable of clear diction.

Work

This is a non-starter, but good for a 5 minute bout of hysteria I suppose

Mt61 I’m sorry that lockdown caused you so much sorrow.

I presume you were equally raging mad with Boris Johnson for attending all those parties that he lied about?

Barleyfields Mon 03-Feb-25 17:43:23

Indeed. It’s what you say rather than what your voice is like. If this is his voice after coaching Lord knows what it was like beforehand. His delivery is incredibly boring. The money would have been better spent on Reeves or Rayner.

Grandmabatty Mon 03-Feb-25 17:45:24

I'm not seeing it in the Guardian nor The independent. Which media is it in?

karmalady Mon 03-Feb-25 17:46:41

Voice coaching? Yes. right, pull the other one

LizzieDrip Mon 03-Feb-25 17:49:39

Oh right, yes Mt61 … the curry and beer ‘party’!

Smileless2012 Mon 03-Feb-25 17:49:42

Barleyfields that made me laugh grin.

So, why did the speech coach need to visit him personally?
I gave French language lessons on Skype during lockdown, and it was possible to correct accent and intonation online.
Unless he has a speech impediment where he needs to be shown where to place his tongue in his mouth, I don't get it.

Mt61 Mon 03-Feb-25 17:51:01

Could he not have had a lesson on zoom?

That’s old news and justifiably criticised, but interesting to hear another addition to Starmer’s list.

No don’t suppose it will be in of those labour rags

Barleyfields Mon 03-Feb-25 18:01:58

Maybe speech therapy is a euphemism?

eazybee Mon 03-Feb-25 18:04:16

I am genuinely sorry for the grief suffered by Mt61 through the loss of communication with his relatives.
Lockdown did not affect me personally except that I spent much of it alone, but I thought then that much of the outrage was manufactured to score political points. It succeeded and now we have this Labour government .

Increasingly the rank hypocrisy of Starmer is being exposed , sharing beer and sandwiches (but he and Rayner were working) and now this voice coach. On Christmas Eve?

escaped Mon 03-Feb-25 18:10:38

Maybe he had to repeat Christmas Eve tongue twisters with her?
