Not another one? Feel for the assistants who had to work with him and others …if these allegations are true

Sparklefizz Fri 07-Feb-25 08:24:32

petra "What he did at Paul Youngs house was unforgivable.
Not only did he break in and piss on the carpet he stole recordings of Paul Youngs wife’s voice recordings.
His wife is now dead and he will never get them back."

Whaaat? Why did he do that? For goodness sake, what's the matter with him????

Georgesgran Fri 07-Feb-25 08:26:52

I knew about the Paul Young thing (lovely man) so never quite understood Gino D’A’s popularity.

merlotgran Fri 07-Feb-25 09:37:51

I find the whole Italian Stallion thing beyond the pale in any TV programme. I’m now starting to wonder about the stuff that is edited out before we see the finished article.

Galaxy Fri 07-Feb-25 09:40:12

Yes I knew about the Paul Young burglary thing. I didnt know about the urine, and if that's true I dont want to know.

Smileless2012 Fri 07-Feb-25 09:47:25

I can't see any reports on the incident that say he urinated. Has anyone found one?

Ziggy62 Fri 07-Feb-25 10:17:59

Apparently he was 21 at the time, a young waiter (not always tv chef), served a 2 year sentence and Paul Young was interviewed on TV some years ago saying he has forgiven him.

Allira Fri 07-Feb-25 10:21:38

BlueBelle

Well what’s he done isn’t there a link ?
Never liked him anyway too cocky and always sounds a put on accent, but I haven’t seen any articles about him
I don’t watch cookery shows or the ‘celebrity’ travel shows either

BBC and ITV News.

maddyone Fri 07-Feb-25 10:21:59

Another one!
Will it ever end?

Allira Fri 07-Feb-25 10:23:01

As long as there are arrogant men who think they're God's gift to the world - no.

Kate1949 Fri 07-Feb-25 10:50:03

I haven't read that he urinated but that he dropped cigarette buts which led to him being caught. The worst part for Paul Young was that he took recordings of his now deceased wife's voice which have never been recovered.

If he served his time fair play, he was young and stupid, but what he is being accused of now is deplorable and he can’t blame it on anything other than his own bloated sense of entitlement and a misogynistic attitude towards women.
If is true his career has to be forfeited.

NotSpaghetti Fri 07-Feb-25 10:59:30

Miriam Margolyes has done two great short series round Australia... without bothering about the food specifically, bathsalts - obviously she loves food so it IS in there - but not the focus.
She is definitely older and in a "niche" campervan. grin
She does drive it herself.

Smileless2012 Fri 07-Feb-25 11:18:29

I read that too Ziggy so if Paul Young can forgive him, who are we to continue to berate him; no mention of him urinating though.

We don't know if it istrue but it looks as if his career is over anyway Babs. ITV have said they'll no longer be working with him.

Coronation Fri 07-Feb-25 11:37:34

I dislike this trial by media.

AGAA4 Fri 07-Feb-25 11:38:43

I think when some men gain celebrity status they become over confident and feel powerful. They then believe they can do and say anything. It happens too often with TV personalities.

Ziggy62 Fri 07-Feb-25 12:48:23

I remember watching him making Toad in the hole on This Morning and calling it Sausage in the hole, pretending he misunderstood the translation. It was hilarious, very tongue in cheek, very "Carry On" but nothing that young children who may have been watching could have understood. Poor Holly Willoughby couldn't speak for laughing.

I also liked the series he did with Fred and Gordon Ramsey

I haven't read all he has been accused of but I hope it's not true
Obviously if it is, it has to be taken seriously. Sad

Eloethan Fri 07-Feb-25 14:06:22

He always comes across as very pushy and full of himself, but it seems that many men who are in the public eye think they are so important that they can do and say whatever they like. And it seems that, until the you-know-what hits the fan, they can.

Hopefully, after so many careers have been brought to a standstill perhaps even those who are inclined to behave in this way will think twice about it.

Kate1949 Fri 07-Feb-25 14:12:26

Apologies petra for practically duplicating your post. Note to self Read the bloomin thread properly. 🙄

GrannyIvy Fri 07-Feb-25 14:22:52

I will stick to watching James Martin 😂

Never really watched Gino in anything cookery or other things. No interest in him. If he is guilty then throw the book at him. No smoke without fire but why is it all coming out now🤷‍♀️.

I think it just takes one woman to pluck up the courage to come forwards for others to then do the same, and members of staff who witnessed this.
I imagine is extremely hard to challenge his behaviour at the time, like Wallace he probably created an intimidating work environment where you either went along with it or risked being singled out and made fun of. Classic bullying behaviour.

Babs03 Fri 07-Feb-25 14:36:50

Does anyone remember the Galloping Gourmet with Graham Kerr. At the end of the programme he would ask a young woman from the audience to join him to eat the meal he’d made.
Am sure this kind of thing was rife back when but had a soft spot fur Kerr, hope he didn’t blot his copybook.

Babs03 Fri 07-Feb-25 14:37:12

Correction - back then

Shelflife Fri 07-Feb-25 14:43:23

Have never liked him .

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Fri 07-Feb-25 14:57:49

2 women on GN have accused him of putting his hand up their skirts

I assume you meant ‘GM ‘ petra!

Otherwise - ‘fess up ladies!

Galaxy Fri 07-Feb-25 15:05:01

The sad thing is I saw that and actually believed that two women on GN had had some awful experience with him.
If anyone has a bridge to sell , you know who to target.
