The constant adoration of Farage and Trump by some people on here is making me want to avoid the forum and it wouldn’t surprise me if it isn’t having the same effect on other people, too

I can only think of one reason why the same people keep banging on about this.

On the one hand, it's profoundly upsetting and depressing, on the other thankfully I do still have a choice about what I expose myself to.

These rants can not be representative of the vast number of citizens who are friendly and caring.

I think that Mr Farage should try being an MP first, before he has a stab at being Prime Minister. He is very hot on rhetoric, very cool on working for his constituency.
Unless, of course, someone from Essex knows something different...

Totally agree MayBee. I’ve not been on Gransnet for ages for that very reason. First thing I see today. Trump and Farage are both self-serving attention seekers who say unkind things about others. Forcibly moving people from their homelands in Gaza so you can benefit by turning it into the ‘Riviera’? Deporting vulnerable people? Outrageous! Sadly it’s ‘Goodbye Gransnet’ for the foreseeable from me.

Those of you severely affected by Nigel Farage, the thread title clearly mentions his name so no need to open the thread and get all dramatic about leaving the site.
Just ignore the threads - I ignore 80% of threads on the N&P board.

I read somewhere vague and unverifiable that this will happen in 17 months, 2 weeks and 3 days, but it will only apply to those who sign using their granny’s blood that they will always vote Labour.

How do you hide threads?

On my iPhone I click onto the thread I want to hide. To the right of Forums > News and Politics (which is where the thread I want to hide is located) there is a red upward arrow. Click on that arrow and there is the Hide this Discussion' option.

I haven't found out how to hide thread on iPad.

Thank you. Is it possible to screen by thread subject, or is it a case by case thing?

~I watched Prime Ministers questions and seem to remember the Speaker telling Farridge to get a move on . I also remember Starmer putting him down with a rather nice line on the lines of F. being in his constituency if he could remember where Clacton was.

Yes I too watched PMQs on Wednesday westendgirl. Nigel Farage tried a few times to ask Keir Starmer his question but there was so much barracking going on from the Labour back benches he had to keep trying to be heard. Then he stopped and smiled politely hoping it would calm down. Big mistake! No chance. He should have just ploughed on regardless. The Speaker Lindsay Hoyle obviously realised the situation and urged Nigel Farage to “just get on with it!”.

I heard Farage attempting to ask a question in the house through a barrage of jeers and catcalls and noticed the absence of any attempt to restore order from the Speaker.
Farage seizes the day because he is able to expose the hypocrisy of the contemptible Starmer, and the mendacity and duplicity of those who support him.

Me too MayBee. I wouldn’t engage with people holding many of these views in real life … so I’m not doing it on GN either.

What exactly is the point here? Is it personalities or policies? Once again, personality seems more important than policies. I can't say I actually like Nigel Farage, but that is beside the point. He is standing up for those who actually care about Great Britain and want to put a stop to its continuing decline, which is more than can be said for the majority of people on Gransnet!

I feel exactly the same when I see Starmer, or hear his wooden attempt to play the world leader.

Interesting, the demography of many people who support Reform, is, in the main, quite similar to those who support Trump.

Anti-immigration, anti-trans, live in poorer deprived areas, truly believe Trump and Farage care about them and speak for them.

It’s a facade. Trump and Farage care the most about themselves, it’s about perceived power and ego.

At least Farage can string sentences together, using words of more than two syllables!

Note, I said many, not all supporters, before you jump on me.

Farage needs to learn his MP duties before he even dreams about being PM.

I'd be very interested to know how Farage and the other Reform MPs are considered now by their constituents.

Are they working for them on the issues that matter?
Or are they just busy campaigning.

Farage was key to driving Britain through Brexit.
Brexit was necessary to isolate the UK.
Was the plan always to make us vulnerable so that his pal Trump can turn his greedy eye to a weakened UK when he's finished with Gaza, Canada, Greenland and Mexico.

I can never forget Farage's links to Aaron Banks. Where did the money from Brexit come from?

If Trump-loving, fox hunt supporting, misogynistic Farage's intentions are good I'll eat my MAGA hat.

How do you think Reform could possibly form a functioning government FGT? What expertise and experience can they bring to the table? Farage has a lot to say for himself but he couldn’t run the country on his own and he can’t appoint a cabinet of people who are not MPs or peers, unlike Trump.

Farage is looking out for himself just as his friend Trump is. As for us being a declining country we have some way to go because last time I looked we are the world’s 6 th richest nation.

Was just about to say the same. Have to turn the tv off every time he comes on and I’m really not impressed with having a quick glance at gransnet only to see that picture.
